Pavlik is too raw for the top Middleweights

Yes, he is better technically than Miranda, that is for sure. However, Miranda's workrate, determination, heart, power, and accurate punches more than make up for his lack of boxing technique. While Miranda does not posses the best footwork or the best combinations in the division, he is still very exciting to watch (so is Pavlik, BTW). I'd pay $50 to watch Miranda fight yet I wouldn't set my TiVo to watch Winky unless he's fighting someone else I want to see (like Jermain, Miranda, Pavlik, or Oscar). I AGREE WITH YOU 10000%.....like i stated earlier in this thread.....the day winky retires or gets the fuck outta the picture, the more exciting boxing will become....he is the cure to insomina! Miranda/pavlik has the fight of the CENTURY WRITTEN ALL OVER IT, yes i said century.....i dont think their is a possible exciting match up with the likes of winky wright, unless hes fight john ruiz lol

Yup, just like the title says. After watching two of Pavlik's fights (Zertuche and McKart), I was searching for a word to describe him. I didn't want to use amateurish, because that's not really it. He's just too raw and green and while he would have a puncher's chance against Abraham, Miranda, Wright, and Taylor, I doubt he'd be able to beat them more than 1 time out of 10. I'd pick any of those to beat Pavlik by UD (Taylor and Wright) or KO (Miranda and Abraham). I'd love to see him fight either Miranda or Abraham just to get this guy off of everyone's hype list. he is better techincally in his last fight then miranda and abrahm.. he was very good techincally in this last fight .. i think he has a good chance to beat any middle weight except winky wright

In reality, the top middleweights (Taylor, Miranda, Abraham) are all very raw. pavlik has less holes in his game than any of the above fighters... the only problem with pavlik is his lapses in defense. the kid is young - 24, i think a year and two or three fights against top 10 contenders will sharpen up his skills. this kid will be champ one day

Regarding Miranda: Pantera is perhaps more "raw" than Pavlik. Reread my earlier post (pg. 2) I think I addressed this point clearly. Miranda is the more gifted fighter though, and I would pick Miranda in a shootout over Pavlik.

We shall see. It seems like Pavlik is gonna have to face Miranda soon (I hear May-June). He better sharpen up his skills. Those 'lapses' are not gonna work well against Miranda.

The problem with Pavlik is the way he throws his punches. Some of them look like they're lazy punches and any good counterpuncher (like Wright) would exploit that weakness to no end. He also telegraphs too much which leaves himself open and off balance. He's a nice guy, tho, and seems like he's go good character and is good for boxing, but I don't think he has the skill to be up at the top. Not yet, anyway. pavlik'spunches are kinda slow so i think from a top middleweight fighter like taylor will give a lot of problems to pavlik, but i think he is right up there

I sure don't, but he's certainly a top five - ten middleweight and a solid puncher, which makes him a future Taylor opponent and someone who should be able to earn the shot. Yeah that's about right. Everyone wants to see more of Pavlik including me...he OBVIOUSLY deserves a shot. He's been fighting for 7 years, is undefeated and did a good job in his last outing...stopping a guy who had never been. I've always held people in high regards for stopping durable opponents...for instance Corrales gained big time respect from me for stopping Castillo in the first fight, Miguel Cotto gets a ton of credit from me for stopping Olivera and Quintana, Wlad gets credit for stopping Mercer even though Mercer was old, etc. That kind of stuff is impressive. I'd be more impressed though if Pavlik stopped a guy his size and make. Zertuche looked like the perfect guy for Pavlik to just unload on. Mckart and Zertuche caught him flat footed and those guys can't break an egg by throwing it at the wall. Pavlik is a badass....but people are hyping him up way too much. He's a methodical technician with a good offense and moderate inside defense. Do you people really think he can beat Jermaine Taylor? I think Taylor would knock him out. He's way too accurate and puts punches together. The difference is.....Taylor isn't Zertuche: LOL. He's a lengthy guy who can crack when he gets leverage on his punches....not a guy straight off the street selling oranges. I agree with you on this one. He really looks amateurish sometimes when he throws and he admires his punches too much, too. He'll connect a right hand and just look at the other guy to see if he hurt him. I know what you guys mean about Pavlik. But, I love watching exciting fights and I think he will provide some in the future. I think we can all agree to that.
