Klitschko, the #1 heavyweight in the world, wouldnt even be ranked in the top 10 a decade ago... and 20 years ago, forget about top ten, Maybe top 50. And 30 years ago we would have never even heard of klitschko or briggs. Maybe peter cause he has power and could attract a fan base. but thats it.
The heavyweight division isnt taken seriously today. We have a joke of a seven footer. people dont watch Valuev to see a good heavyweight action fight, they go to see a spectacle.
I remember the lightweights a long time ago were terrible, but now they are one of boxings most talent packed divisions. They came back strong, why cant the Heavyweights?
But right now, the heavyweight division is in shambles. its pathetic. you have guys in the heavyweight division who should and could be fighting at cruiserweight.
heavyweights rarely come into the ring in spectacular physical condition. The dont show the passion and courage that the Heavyweight division was known for in the 70's and 30's...
Look at the champions and tell me this division is respectable:
Maskaev is pathetic and got rolled by weak heavyweights in the 90's-2000's
Briggs couldn't even compete in the 90's
Briggs is 35
In the 90's so you call it, his pro debut started in '92 when he was 21 and the 90's ended when he was 28. Still kind of green, no?
Sometimes you have to loose some to get the experience.
We all saw a completely different Peter after only one fight with Toney.
If Toney was unknown, you would have been saying he schooled that full!
Klitschko has 3 knockout losses already
Tyson was knocked out 4 times (not counting the the time with McBride when he just quit)
Lewis was KOed twice
I can list you a dozen of champions who have been KOed.
Wlad was TKOd by Sanders and Punched himself out against Purity and Brewster
Valuev has no ability whatsoever
Yet undefeated, wins by KOs, and is only one approaching Marciano's record.

I agree with you on everyone except klitschko. his 3 losses have occurred over 50 fights which is a lot of fights,,,name one heavyweight that hasnt had a few losses after that many fights. naturally your bound to have a few bad nights. I think he'd compete well in any era. all in all the division is weak,,,but there have been ever worst eras such as the pre tyson and holmes eras

Without a doubt the worst heavyweight division of all time
why...because your boys rahman and toney got knocked out of contention? whats that make them then
I don't know why people are complaining about Wlad. He's like the last bastion of hope and talent in the division, he and Peter (also shit on by most people in this forum). People complain and hate on the only two (currently ranked) guys who actually give the division some hope.
If Sultan beats Briggs, which I think he will, he'll join them at the top.
Moorer destroy Klitschko? I don't see it. Wlad is the one guy in the division that would be top 10-15 in just about any era.
moorer would get knocked out within 4 rounds by wlad. he was a terrific fighter but style wise forget it. he was a small heavyweight and always had trouble with big punchers. if holyfield,,cooper and steward could put him down,,,wlad would put him through the mat. moorer just gives away too much reach and he doesnt move his head. he'd get taken out brutally
lol,,,why are you pointing out moli and nicholson? hes beaten,,,,mccline...byrd twice,,,,mercer....botha,,,barret,,peter,,,brock,,,shulz,,shufford ( whom beat brewster),,williamson,,jefferson,..some of those guys are on the level of brewster and all are certaintly better than purrity. you say "peter will beat wlad in a rematch" emphatic quotes like this make it clear your biased. you think becuase peter came into shape the 2nd time against toney and looked much better means hes that improved from the wlad fight? lol ...he;s shown a good jab in other earlier fights such as with shufford but people forget he was just out of shape in the first toney fight and they seem to judge him by that. wlad looked awful to me in his fight with peter,,,,he let peter off the hook too much when he;d hurt him yet he still won by a descent margin. saying emphatically that peter would win a rematch is laughable. I think wlad would have a much better chance of stopping peter this time around considering he had the momentum going his way at the tail of there fight and I think if anything wlad has improved more since there last fight than peter has
Its a fuckin opinion who would win that fight. ANd peter showed GREAT improvement inbetween Toney fights. how could u not IMMIDIATELY see that?
I would be willing to bet everything that i own, that peter drops klitschko multiple times again, but this time he wont make it up from that last KD.
Klitschko got dropped by a worse peter then he is now. peter wins this one easier then u seem to think... trust me. Ill quote myself when the fight happens because the fight WILL happen.
"lol,,,why are you pointing out moli and nicholson?"
because those were his two opponents BEFORE the Brewster fight, proving that Brewster fight was a step UP at that time... cause u denied earlier...
Lets get all of these guys fighting each other, and then we have a decent division. Right now Peter and Klitschko are to very good heavyweight who are under the age of 30. We need a heavyweight tournament. The talent isn't great, but lets get these guys fighting each other, have a unified champion, and then move forward.
I think Top10 wouldnt be stretching it.
Top 5 highly doubt it.
My personal (biased or not) opinion is that Lewis and Wlad (who I think are very similar fighters) would pose a threat in any era. Their size alone would be the major factor in that threat.
I agree. there's a lot of posters on here that are jealous of the klits. we'll here more excuses after his next couple defenses Im sure
i wouldnt say all of that now. especially the 70s, i dont see it. nope=

You are reall underrating Wlad. He would be top 5 in any era. This version of him that is.

So ur saying Fabio Eduardo Moli and Danell Nicholson were better fighters then Lamon Brewster?
The only reason Wlad was the favorite, if he was, was because he was a very hyped prospect and had everything rolling for him at the time.
And like i said in my post earlier. He may very well have matured and has defiently shown improvements. But even the most diehard klitschko fans gotta admit, that he's certainly not proving it to anybody with wins over Brock, byrd, and now Austin...
And peter being in better shape and peter being a better fighter are completely different things.
He leaped from a one dimensional fighter to a multi-dimensional fighter in one fight. What makes me think he wouldn't improve even more against Klitschko? nothing. he will and he would stop klitschko if he does

mate you must be kidding.
He is by far teh most underrated guy.
Overratedness is an opinion. im not saying he sucks, but some of you guys are makin him much better then he seams. saying the best guys klitschko beat were better then best guys joe louis beat. Saying klitschko is better then jersey joe.
none of which is true. So thats why, in my eyes, he is overrated as of late. He USED to be underrated, but now that he is getting recognition and sooo many people have gotten on the bandwagon, he is definetly overrated in my eyes
oh please,,your clearly showing your biasness. brewster and sanders were not steps up for wlad. he was a huge favorite against both of them and he clearly underestimated them,,as far as peter goes he was in better shape for wlad than both toney fights and peter simply couldnt do what he did to toney becuase of wlads long jab,,size and movement

I dont want to start an agrument here, But people arent UNDERRATING Klitschko, they are OVERRATING him
mate you must be kidding.
He is by far teh most underrated guy. Only recently have some people acknowledged teh fact that he is the best heavy, and then thats only because the "division is weak".
I can name plenty of champs today who get more props then Wlad.
