They both are seminal figures in boxing. They both are great contributors to the spectacle.
Yet, which one is greater?
This is interesting.
I went with Ali because he was the Babe Ruth of his era and sport.
Nothing touches that.
you're an idiot. stallone is a cartoon character that made a ficticious movie that turned on the children. that is worth something but its insulting to compare that short fuck egomaniac to ali.
egomaniac huh, do u know who Ali is by any chance...
Seriously though Ali by miles. Like previously said Ali transcended boxing and sports he was a huge World figure while Stalone is mainly an American actor. The symbol which is Ali was in rare form when at the Atlanta Olympics Ali lit the torch, I couldn't think of a better person to have done it. Proud Ali standing there bigger than life yet vulnerable due to the subtle signs of his disease. It was one of those momments where the hair in the back of your neck rise and you just know your watching something special.
Ali by a longshot.
I think the Rocky movies have actully been a detriment to the boxing population.
People expected fights to be like they were in the movies, and there just not.
The most recognizable figures in the 70s are either Fidel Castro or Leonid Brezhnev.
Ali was more world renown than both of them were.
and you're on a streak for making the stupidest threads of all time.

hell yes he was. He wasnt the most inflential or important person in the world, but he obviously and certaily the most recognizable and famous person on the entire planet during the 70's and even the 80's after he retired.
he is STILL extremely famous, and he hasnt fought in almost 30 years.
Read an article about it. I can garuntee you it was true.

one of the most, true ! ... but not the most ... not even in the 70s

Dude, Ali is one of few figures who transcended his sport and was born out of one of the most important periods of this century (Civil Rights movement).
Stallone just made a great movie.
Hold up!
We all know ali was the man... but
Many, many fighters and many fans watch boxing because of the impact stallone has had with the rocky balboa character. there is no doubt about it!!
Realise how big the rocky saga was and still is from the 80's and its major effect it has had world wide, and you'll realise young underdog fighters got their inspiration from these movies.
is this a joke?
Muhammad ali was not only the most famous athlete of his generation and possibly all time, but there was almost a decade where muhammad ali was the single most famous PERSON in the entire planet.
Stalone made 5 good movies that did nothing for the sport but make it seem like a joke sorta. Poeple enjoyed them, but they didnt become boxing fans because of them
