During a broadcast of Friday Night Fights on ESPN; Sugar Ray Leonard guaranteed a Sergio Mora victory over Jermain Taylor to host Brian Kenny.
Kenny paused and asked Ray for clarification - and Ray again emphatically claimed that Sergio Mora would defeat Jermain Taylor if they fought.
I mentioned this another thread. What's up with this???
Ouma took some good shots. He can take a punch, from what i've seen in past fights also. Not saying he has the best chin, but Ouma can take shots. As for Mora he isn't nothing special. Taylor will win by UD. If any trading occurs im pretty sure Taylor will land a over hand right that might send Mora to the canvas. Yea he is undefeated, but he doesn't know what if feels like to get hit hard and be hurt.
Taylor wins this fight. Taylor beat Hopkins twice and gave Winky the fight of his life. No way Mora is going to stop Taylor from his streak.
Taylor wins via UD.
Thats just ludacris......I mean it will be a moral victory if he makes it the distance which I doubt he will but him winning is just out of the question if you ask me.......Cool thing is I have always liked Taylor although some may not believe that due to that fact that he has been fighting people I like better like Hopkins and Winky lately but I will be chering him on 2 fights in a row now......its cool to get to cheer for a guy you like again finally since he is not fighting your favorite fighters.
I totally agree, if Mora even shows well - he'll get a bunch of hype.
I'll give him his credit if he does something special.
Ray saying that though was surreal, as far as I'm concerned..
Does Ray know something nobody else does?
I guess...

Based on the underwhelming performance vs. Ouma, Taylor had better step it up in this fight or it could be close...but we all know how close decisions go in Taylor fights...his way.
I don't agree with SRL mainly because he picked Tito to knock Nard out, and firmly maintains that Hatton would beat Floyd...that's something I don't agree with. Floyd would tatoo him probably.
But Mora stands a better chance than you people are giving him credit for and he's a better fighter than you're giving him credit for.
Ok, that's interesting.
I was asking at one point how SRL was in predictions..

Good points all around.
I just don't see the improvement I'd like to see from Taylor especially under Steward. He constantly abandons the steady jab in favor of slugging it out.
He did it against Ouma. He was immediately swinging for a homerun and it never came. If you go out their to knock someone out it just doesn't happen, you need to let it happen.
I will give JT this, he's had some very hard competition and it's real tough to look good against great competition.
One thing though, people saying Sugar Ray is back on the crack? Comeon now, the man knows boxing. I respect his honest opinion a lot more than some people who make really ridiculous claims. Obviously he sees something he thinks makes a difference between the 2 fighters.
I've watched Mora fight a little bit, I think he has some flaws but is a solid fighter. One thing I think his defense is a little lax, but he's a big enough guy I think to give Taylor a fight.
Edit: I re-watched the Taylor-Wright fight a couple weekends ago and scored the rounds. I came out with 115-113 for Wright, but only cause I gave Wright the last round. Taylor danced most of the round and only initiated 1 exchange, where as Wright worked his jab, controlled the ring, and initiated more of the boxing that round. It was a lot closer than I first thought, I had Wright winning 116-112 when the fight actually happened.
IT DEPENDS WHICH TAYLOR TURNS UP
The Taylor that fought Winky(Even though Taylor lost), would stop Mora in 6...
The Taylor that fought Ouma, would win a UD but Mora could pull the upset
Taylor is getting handpicked easy opponents now, Dibella does not want to risk his cashcow, I know he almost shit a brick after the Winky fight lol. HBO is in love with JT and it is evidently obvious by the way Lampley rides his nuts during every fight, they where pretty much pushing BHop out the door in their 1st fight. As long as HBO is willing to pay Dibella to televise JT fights he will not be tested for a while, they will dogde Winky, Calzaghe, and Miranda for probably another year. I don't blame JT, even though I am disgusted that he raised his hand in victory after the Draw he got with Winky, I mean you could see it on his face b4 the announcement that he thought he lost. But I do like him because I really think he is one of the few fighters though that will fight ANYBODY, which is something I respect, but they, meaning HBO and Dibella, will wait for Winky and Calzaghe to get some more miles on them, and then they will avoid Miranda until he is no longer unavoidable, kinda like Tarver-Jones, setting up a superfight between the 2, it's all about money. but I digress, I said it b4 and I'll say it again, if Mora takes the open flush shots that Ouma was taking I don't see this going past 3.
P.S.
Taylor go to GBP, you will get the big fights and eventually be reconized as one of the greats, because Dibella is going to ruin your career!
I agree with that statement.
Taylor has some Dangerfield disease going on.
I respect his willingness to take on all comers as well.
I thought all of you critics had this one in the bag. shame shame shame. Taylor has a problem. His name is Sergio Mora. Taylor still doesn't have the top ability and maybe never will and Mora will expose that to everyone. If anyone thinks Taylor won against Winky then you need comment on another sport for now on. Mora is a tough guy who could land the right shots to win this fight. Taylor thinks of Mora as just another jr middleweight thats why he is going to fight him, but Taylor will be in for a big suprise as he was when Ouma ate his shots up and spit them out. If it wasn't for Taylor's natural size and home advantage Ouma probably would have taken a descision. As for Mora he has that spark and talent, he won't be there for Taylor's powerpunches and will be able to take the fight to the champ and take a descision, unless he is robbed like Winky.

One thing I like about Mora is his confidence and you make some good points expecially about the Winky Fight.
i see it going either way but jermain difently the stronger guy mora is a sneaky guy and might be able to keep out of harms way......but mora is a tough guy.....i forgot who it was i saw him fight last year but the guy had a height advntage like by 5 inches or more if im correct and mora was more than willing to trade and even try to bully the guy........alota heart .......i dont know but Jermaine is in a whole other class of fighter than that other dude
His name is Eric Regan who appeared to be stronger and faster in the early rounds but Mora showed his talent and came out victorious as he will with Taylor.

taylors raw and will always be raw. he has long speed and good power he should never move up in weight he needs his hieght.. hes exactly like ray austin
Taylor's punching power is not overrated. Taylor is an excellent athlete in terms of handspeed and power. He just doesn't pick his shots and isn't very clever, he just goes in and throws punches. To knock the top level guys out like Hopkins, Wright, and Ouma(not AS much of a top guy but still very good), you need to do some counterpunching and set guys up more.
In terms of raw strength and speed Taylor might be the world's pound for pound most impressive guy. At worst second behind Pac.

YEAH, I THINK TAYLOR COULDVE TAKEN OUMA OUT IF HE WOULDVE FOUGHT LIKE HE FOUGHT AGAINST WINKY(TAYLOR'S BEST PERFORMANCE EVEN THOUGH HE LOST) IN 6, 7 OR 8 ROUNDS...
