Will we have to reassess Hatton at Welter?
Hatton looked out of sorts against Collazo, not his usual energetic self from the bell of round one yet still scraped a win. If Collazo looks great against Mosley will it encourage Hatton to have another try at Welter or at least soften the criticism he has received for that matchup?
Will it even mean a rematch down the line after Castillo and PBF?
If not, why not?
Mosley's fought southpaws before I beleive but no one as crafty as Collazo considering this Mosley doesn't have much sugar left and it may come down to an sneaky SD or a UD in favor of Collazo. If Hatton even thinks about coming back up people will accuse him of ducking Collazo even more after he went directly back down. I think he should have to have a rematch with Collazo if Collazo wins tommorrow to show he can leave people without being as doubtful as they already are.
It is possible to be a pressure fighter / swarmer and still use boxing skills to win fights. Hatton isn't really a swarmer in the sense that he's a volume puncher. His output is not significantly higher than most fighters for his weight class. He wears down his opponents by being constantly there and constantly attacking, not necessarily by throwing outrageous amounts of punches. Hatton uses pressure but he also boxes intelligently (the last three fights aside) by stepping to the side and then swooping in, by attacking from angles etc. If you believe that boxing is the left jab, and anyone who neglects it can't box then you're missing out on a massive part of the fight game.
I agree, but Geoff does claim Hatton has this mythical great jab and when someone disagree's he calls them an idiot psychopath......etc.
Yep Hatton fights excellently from the outside and has an very good left jab that he can use in a variety of ways (as seen in his early pro career).
Now would you concede that your boy Geoff is dillusional?
OK, lets set this straight. I make post and support my thoughts with logic, facts and yes opinnions. You post pure hyperbole and oppinion.
Who needs help.....hmmm, is it the guy who tries to link every thread to Chris Eubank in some way (Geoff's six degrees of Eubank Separation). You also consistently have consequitive post in the same threads in which you actually quote yourself and appear to be attempting to add validity to your arguements by simply quoting yourself :ugh:
I bet if there was a poll and people were asked what style of fighter Hatton was, everyone BUT you would say pressure/swarmer fighter. So would that mean that everyone is crazy but you:banana:
You really think I'm going to waste my time with a psychopath? I'm not giving you what you want. I'm not going to feed you.
Ok, I'm mentally ill because I claim that Hatton is not a great boxer and is actually a pressure fighter/swarmer. Please your really very obtuse and close minded when it comes to many UK fighters.

He doesn't truly believe what he's saying. He's ill.

Why do you keep implying that everyone is crazy when they disagree with you? I thought he made a great point.

You have serious mental issues or just awful eyesight or memory.

Oh and I think Mosley will wipe the floor with Collazo.
the old mosely but now mosely should have stayed at Jr MW instead going down at WW because his last couple of fight at WW didnt look good

Geoff I really think your the only one who see's Hatton as a great boxer who uses a great left jab...etc...etc. Why can't you accept Hatton for what he is and thats a pressure fighter/swarmer and not a boxer.
I do want to see more of Hatton. This fight Saturday can't come fast enough.
Yeah Hatton is all skill and technique - you'll be very impressed with technical skill. He wasn't exactly blessed with great flexibility - he has very squat frame, and apparenly isn't the fastest of runners and can only bench press 160lbs. But as a young kid he studied the greats and spent hours on end working on his technique on the bags and practicising foot positioning over and over. Billy Graham (another student of the game) has just polished him up abit since they got together 10 years back.

All this not enough time to prepare is BS. If that was the true reason for Hatton's less than stellar performance then he could've proved it with another fight at 147lbs in which he would've had plenty of time to prepare. For the record I had Hatton winning the fight but that fight proved that Hatton's strenghts are physcial talent and not skill. Hatton's heart, stamina and strenght and work rate is what wins him fights. At 147lbs he was as dominating physically and he didn't have the boxing skills to cope with the bigger fighter.
Case in point is Duran who was able to go up in weight not just because of his physical attributes but because he was a skilled fighter.

And also, Billy Graham thinks that Mayweather is just a blown-up light-welter and could still make light-welter, he doesn't view Mayweather as a natural welter so I doubt Hatton would need to 'pack on muscle' as much.. and for Collazo remember, they had just seven weeks to pack on muscle because TV forced him to move up at short notice (because Mayweather was up at welter). With a Mayweather fight, they'd have much longer to prepare and get it right.
