I know some of you want to finally see MAB fights JMM whom the former seemed to avoid for a long time. But this is a good example of injustices WBC has done for its fighters. Pacman, the #1 contender for MAB's 130-lb WBC belt obviously can't fight because of the impending litigation between GBP and TR as who is the rightful promoter of the fire-breathing Filipino. However instead of giving the #2 contender Humberto Soto a chance to wrestle for the belt, WBC sanctioned the MAB-JMM fight for Barrera's green belt. This is just a plain stupid and selfish move on the part of Jose Suliaiman. No wonder boxing is losing its appeal to the viewing public and boxing fans.
In another story, Sulaiman was trying to appease camp Soto's disgust by dangling them another proposition that Soto will have a chance to get a crack for the 130 WBC crown and fight for the winner of the MAB-JMM. That is in case Pac does not exercise his #1 contender option, in which case Pac would lose his #1 contender status and Soto would step in as the #1 contender.
Ho-hum! I think I've already heard a similar promise before when WBC declared the winner of Pac-EM II to be the eliminator for MAB's belt, then reneged on their word and again sactioned the Pac-EM III to be the official eliminator. It seem to me that Sulaiman doesn't really value his words and is content on bending his organization's rule to serve his own interest.

i agree he's a hall of fame candidate whatever happens in his last two fights. but a first-ballot candidate ???? - not sure of that if he lose his last two fights the same way he lost to packy in 03.
I think Barrera has accomplished a lot in boxing and is a first-ballot HOFer. But, I don't think he can beat Marquez (who is past his prime, but still very good), Pacman (who is in his prime), or Soto (who is also in his prime) at this stage of his career.
On a different note, I would love to see Soto vs. Pacman (has "fight of the year" written all over it - given their styles).
MAB is already a hall of famer, regardless of what happens in his next fights.

Nah nah Bro. what's the hurry? :D
If MAB survives JMM he won't survive Packy so he'll eventually lose that title.
If he does survive both, then there's no question MAB should be elevated to the hall of fame.

:lol1: ahehehehh! i know it will be another boring fight.. MAB endorses sleeping pills....
u'r damn right dude, this is gonna be a snoozefest between two overcatious boxers and counter-punchers and senior citizens of the lower weight classes.
but i like mab, i hope he wins this one. i think he is the smarter fighter between the two and it will make the difference.
i'm still looking forward for the pac-mab rematch.
money works everything
what is then the use of the so-called boxing governing bodies if they can't enforce their own rules themselves?
i know money means everything to a lot of people but there are rules that govern these organizations and their fighters and they should be followed, otherwise they lose their credibility and most importantly boxing fans.
it's time to teach these bastards some lesson - boycott mab-jmm fight and just watch the replay. :cop:
jmm has no business fighting mab as wbc ranking dictates. he's not even ranked as a 130-lb contender and thus has to earn the right to get his shot for mab's championship belt. sulaiman breaks his words faster than he can utter them. if pacman is not available to fight barrera, soto is the next rightful for the crown as he is the #2 contender, too bad sulaiman doesn't honor his organization's own rules.
if mab doesn't wan't to fight soto then he should be stripped of his belt and let pac and soto fight for it.
money works everything
Well actually
He broke his word because of the money involved.
People were more interested in Pac- Morales 3 than
winner of pac/morales - Barrera
Remember, Pro-boxing is more of a show than a sport. Promoters go for matches that give them more money. Not the ones that would be fair to the boxer.
I wholeheartedly agree it is a injustice for Soto, and i love JMM and id like him to get his chance (Though he is way old now) but Soto fairly and squarely fought what the WBC called an eliminator for the WBC crown and he deserves to fight MAB as mandatory not if MAB feels like fighting him. He also fought Juarez in an eliminator and the WBC did not strip Chi of his belt for not fighting Soto.
Mab-Jmm winner must fight pacman next, should he beat chi, if barrera wins and continue to run away from pac, soto and pacquiao may battle for the vacant wbc 130lbs title, if pac-barrera or pac-marquez does happen this year, soto may have to wait til next year to earn a title shot, provided he keeps on winning.
