Why did everyone say (including me) that he is a very good boxer?
He was outboxed by Rahman, had a close fight with Jirov, had a close fight with Peter, and then lost another fight to Peter.
Toney has NOT performed well against a good boxer in many, many years.
Any way... just a thought.

James Toney is 150 years old!!
and fighting at HEAVYWEIGHT
Toney is still good but dosent need to be fighting at heavyweight the first fight with Peter i was there and i thought Toney won but the second fight Toney lost, he should go to cruiserweight or just fight someone like M.Moore or Rahman again cause they mean nothing to the heavyweight picture. personal success but not gonna get a title shot again could you imagine him against Value or Klitschko?
Toney was still great in 2003. He hasnt been the same since. His fight against Jirov is amazing. He still had the skills that fight. You cant look past his stay at super middle either where he put together a great performance against the bigger Prince Charles Williams. Especially the 12th round, where he took him apart with great accuracy.
He was at his all time worst against Rahman. I thought he lost, and got a gift.
I would say his stamina was worst with Rahman, but he still fought hard & I had him winnning that fight by a few points.
he kicked jirovs ass? it was an even fight going into the last couple rounds and rahman clearly beat him. not sure what the hell fights you were watching
Against Jirov he was landing the cleaner harder shots the whole fight. He was fighting in bursts & also landing the cleaner harder shot against Rahman & he beat Peter with the jab the first time around no question, that's how I saw them, what fights were you watching?
Edit: & with Jirov, at least according to the judges it wasn't an even fight, I had it alot closer then they did tho.

I think he beat Rahman & Peter the first time no question, & he kicked Jirov's ass. The thing with the second Peter fight is that Peter fought the perfect big mans fight, which is mainly why Toney looked so bad, he wasn't able to land as well as last time around, & since he came with no regard to speed & agility he lost the fight.

toney never ate healthy not in his whole career until now..the weight is what beat him .. if the only weights he used was for lats neck and abs he would of won tthe fight
well considering he isnt even a natural light heavy he has done alot in his career. I personally thought toney beat peter. The fight iwas watching was toneys heart vs peters stamina. the knock diown was more of being off balance. Toney got fast after he fell down
I hate to give red juice to someone who disagrees with me about a fight, but I had to this time. I couldn't help it.
Toney was actually never a natural middleweight, he had to kill himself to get that low, and had a good run there for awhile, pretty much the last impressive thing he did, besides the Jirov win. He was naturally 200 lbs as a high school athlete.
And the Barkley fight was good, but Barkley was becoming damaged goods by that point. Really his impressive win was against Nunn, and he had some nice defenses, then Jones took him to school, he couldn't deal with Griffin and lost two close fights to him, then just puttered around fighting meaningless fights until he beat Jirov, which was a close fight but an impressive win.
no but iam not gonna get in to it. everyone is entitled to there own opion. iam not start argueing over this no point cause done and over with. All in all this is probally a blessing in disguise cause peter is yougn he can probally bring back some fans to boxing.

The Only real problem was .. its 2007... Toney hasn't been GREAT since 1996... Alot of people would not , could not accept that...
