We need congress to get involved and regulate the sport of boxing. The problem is that Don King was a major supporter of George Bush's campaign. What does it say about a president when he associates himself with Don King? Maybe John McCain will get in next election. It's a long shot, but if that were to happen we'd be getting on the right track. John McCain is an even bigger douche. I respect his service to our country, but as a politician he is as slimy as the rest of them. He tried to get mma banned in the mid 90s, not because it was dangerous as he claimed, but because his 2nd wife is the chairman of a large Anheiser-Busch distributor. Back then, Budweiser was a HUGE money backer of boxing AND McCain. McCain is owned by special interests just like the rest of them, it's just that he is not honest enough to admit it. Speaking of his 2nd wife; his 1st wife stuck with him while he was a POW. She even suffered a bad car accident and required cruthes to walk. Soon after being freed, McCain had numerous extra-marital affairs and ended up leaving her and marrying the 2nd wife mentioned above. A real stand-up guy there.

GoldenBoy is taking over the sport, King and Arum have their days number, 1 dominant promoter-we are moving towards that.

I will never be as big a fan of MMA as I am of boxing, though I still like it a lot. It doesn't have to be a one or the other type of deal. There's room for both, even on the same network known for airing the big bouts. As someone said earlier, maybe the money people in boxing will see MMA as a threat....& this willl force them to step up their game.

Competition usually always benefits the consumer. If boxing is going to be forced to compete with UFC, they will be forced to improve their product or lose 'market share'. The Arum's and King's and the rest for years have made cards with the primary reason to make themselves rich, not making the best fights like they should. One thing about the UFC, they have their #1 contenders fighting for belts, best vs the best, very little politics involved. You should see what Teddy Atlas says about Arum in his book. It's hilarious, how Arum is so shameless about being a worm.

Boxing will never die. The MMA will not kill boxing. It's slow due to a lack of superstars. We were spoiled in the 70's and 80's and the early 90's. Those Decades are a hard act to follow. Only time will tell if we will see another Ray Leonard, or Mike Tyson. There were so many good fighters back then, Duran, Holmes, Hearns, Mugabi, the list goes on and on. Boxing doesn't have that kind of depth now. Neither does the UFC. Boxing fans just need to keep on watching, and the stars will emerge. In the mean time...A good fight is a good fight, whether it's UFC or Boxing. :boxing:

ARUM, DON KING, they forgot someone Golden Boy... Don't get me wrong I like Oscar but he has been putting out cards that the under card was a much better fight and sorry ones also. Also Main Event.

man this article made me sad...greenburg tells of how he fought hard to not show UFC on hbo, he said he would not show it...but he gave in basically cause the ratings for boxing were low... and he blames the greedy promoters who want to put up subpar ppv;s for quick monetary gains, instead of putting fights on for free on hbo. what can be done about this? its sad but don king and bob arum are like fidel castro they just keep on ticking and ticking and they are bad for the sport.
