After looking at last night's performance, does anybody else think that Peter would have a good chance against Klitschko? Sam Peter has improved a ton. I for one, did not know he had that type of handspeed. Did you guys see when he was putting those flurries together? Excellent performance. Also, I saw him consistently land a jab, which nobody has seen from him yet. I think that Peter takes out Maskaev within 4.
Right now as far as I'm concerned, we have two heavyweights, Klitschko and Peter, who are quite a bit better than all of the rest. I think we still need about three more to emerge before the heavyweight division really gets going again, but last night's fight was a great start.
He has been KOed once. By Sanders.
He was gassed against Brewster...
His losses are blown way out of proportion.
He had one legitamate KO loss in his career, the other 2 losses were stamina issues.
Or am I missing something:ugh:
I agree. wlad beat himself in 2 of his 3 losses just by throwing way too many power shots per round. you could have literally poked him with a finger and dropped him at those points as he was just dead tired. thats an awful feeling when your dead gassed like that and have someone throwing punches at you. I've had a couple painful memories of that in the past
Peter could defintely beat Wlad........Wlad has been KOed by lesser fighters but will he is the question.Wlad has been looking very good lately and I would love to see these two rematch in late 07 to unify after Peter crushes Oleg.

Lets see 41 percent of you idiots voted for that he would do better but still loosed witch makes no sense at all .. he knocked wlad down 3 times and lost the fight by one point at a time in his career where he had no skills at all .. and wlad looks slower everytime out.. i like wlads skill set but peter is too much for wlad and vuleuv may have the best chance againt peter.
one legit knockdown and wlad dominated most of the rounds. your the same clown that calls wlad a "coverted southpaw" arent you? lol

All's I have to say is Peter has to show me more then he did against Toney. You have to remenber, it's a hell of alot easier punching down then it is punching up. so of course Peter through more punches against a guy who just stands there and takes it like Toney. I say that unless Peter gets lucky with one of his wild slaps, he's going to lose the same way he did last time.
One thing you have to remember, is that Peter was in better shape for the Wladimir fight than he was for the second Toney fight. It's also a lot more easy to look good against a 5'9 former middleweight with little to no power at heavyweight, compared to a 6'6 superheavy with a hard punch.
Peter did improve somewhat though, so i expect him to do better. But i think he'd still lose.
i guess we'll have to wait and see. peter's been known to prove people wrong hahaha, as a matter of fact, everyone thought he was going to lose against toney. and i heard he's been running now. just because you are heavier, does not mean you gained fat or are less in shape, you guys know that much right? take for example some guy hits the weights all the time, and never works on his stamina, he weighs 157 one year and then 170 the next after putting on some muscle. he then realizes his stamina sucks and adds running to his regimen, comes down to 165 and has more stamina. that doesn't mean he's more out of shape than he was at 157. pounds are not the end all, be all of someone being in shape.
I just can't get over the flurries that Peter was trowing last night. It is harder to flurry against a guy like Wlad that it is against Toney, but Peter definately could have used some of those sharp punches against Wlad. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Peter around 235-240, and do more of that. I would pick him against Wlad in a rematch.
peters performance against toney is irrelevant since toney is in no way comparable to klitshcko.
klitschko will completely negate any jab peter may have developed and will dominate the fight on the cards, peter winning on points would seem an almost impossible outcome.
klitschko is also, IMO, as much or more improved than Sam Peter since they fought, wladamir was very conservative in the first fight and passed on many opprutunities to counter peters wild punches, i recall steward almost beggin wlad to "him him after he misses when hes off balance "
also, peter can "take" wlads shots, but how many he can take is the question.

Peter takes his newfound boxing ability.....and still loses every second of every round.
Peter doesnt to get those special punches to the back of the head...therefore doesnt get the knockdowns he had in the first fight.
After a sad Jabbing Contest.....Wlad punches Peters head into hamburger.
Late Stoppage after Peter does the chicken dance again. Its not a KO cause the man has a head like a rhino.
After Liakhovich I've given up making predictions on the fighter after seeing one good performance by him. If he makes a couple more good fights after last night, just like last night or better, I'll say that he has a better chance of beating Wlad than the rest of the crowd.
Those were not 12 rounders man, the Wlad fight was the first time Peter went 12 rounds. Peter threw career high punches against Toney in his last 2 fights, last night Peter had the best stamina I've seen from a big guy in years, I think Peter could've easily gone 15 rounds last night that was the best trained and best conditioned Peter I've ever seen.
they were 10 rounders he went with shufford and pudar. I dont think 2 extra rounds are going to make much a difference. having gone 24 rounds with an experienced guy like toney could have helped him,,sure,,,but I just cant see him doing much anything different than he did last time with wlad. wlad moves and uses his reach so his opponents can never really get set properly to throw in combinations and I sure cant see peter jabbing with wlad. I just think its more of the same if they rematch. peter obviously will have a descent punchers chance again,,but I wouldnt give him more than a 1 in 4 chance of pulling it off here. just my opinion. would love to see a rematch tho
You'd see a whole different Wlad.
This just in, the punches that Toney hit peter with that momentarily stunned him aren't a fraction as hard as Wlad's right hands are.
Not only that.....Peter hit Wlad with illegal punches that took away his equilibrium in the first fight. Knowing how Peter fights now you'd see him enter with confidence and just tattoo Peter with the straight punching combinations.

Peter was not in the best shape of his career, his stamina was shit in that fight, also it was the first fight he had to go 12 rounds!
uh,,,,,no dude. he went the distance with pudar and shufford before he fought wlad and he was in terrific shape at 243 lbs,,,,6 lbs less than his recent win over toney. he tired becuz he was loading up trying to get wlad out of there plus he was getting busted up by a jab from a guy as big as himself and he tired from the pressure as most of wlad and vitali's opponents do

His weight man. Next time around he is not going to throw his punches any faster ;)
I can see were one might think Peter would win the next fight, but I just dont see it.
I see a repeat of fight one. With Wlad less cautios having already figured Peter out, and having seen his Toney fight.
I just dont see it man. Good fight, but I dont see a win for Peter.
Only reason he beat Toney was because Toney was out of shape, slow and old.
In the future maybe, but for now Peter doesnt have enough skills to beat Wlad.
Give him few more fights, then maybe Ill jump the bandwagon. Now I dont see it.

I think Peter could do better against Wlad, but I think Wlad, would still beat him by getting the decision.
