Bernard Hopkins and Floyd are very different. Floyd didn't go to jail at a early age like Hopkins, and Floyd has gone up in weight whooping ass, and hasn't had a big problem with a promoter.

Lightheavyweight Erm...that's not good for Roy. It's not horrible, but he makes cruiserweight better. Hopkins gained a lot of steam going up to 175, but it limits Roy a bit. I would rather this fight took place at a catchweight of 185-190.

No I cannot. I lean more towards it being a decent fight due to them both being more flat footed and the fact that their 1st fight was a fought at a fairly brisk pace. Some people thought it was boring, but I liked it. I appreciate two legends going at it. If fighting Winky is acceptable, then so is fighting Roy on the grounds that Roy hits harder, is faster still, and is a bigger man than Winky. Seriously. There's no reason to thinka fight with Winky would be any more exciting than one with Roy. Plus, a fight with Roy would probably make more money. I disagree that Roy is still a huge name though. I also don't think this fight will be as meaningful as it could have been 3 years ago, but oh well. I am curious to see what happens. Whatever happens, it will surely have an asterisk next to it. Hopkins and Roy are two old goats and they have earned the right to do this type of thing if they please. Having said that, I perfectly undertand your frustration with this not being the hardest fight Hopkins could take. Calzaghe or Maskaev would be the hardest fight at this point. P.S. 1) Bernard did not win his first 20 fights, he actually lost his very hirst prfessional match...ya learn something every day huh. 2) If you read what I write you will find references to the old Bernard Hopkins, the "junkyard dog" as I describe him, at one point in time Hopkins was the definition of a fighter, that time has long since passed. I know he lost his first fight in a close decision. That doesn't change the fact that he began his career with a 20 win streak, with all the statistics I mentioned. I consider the second fight onward of his career still the beginnings.

I don't pay for that lame website, so why don't you tell me exactly what Hopkins said about Roy, Joe, and Maskaev, as well as what Roy's response was. The latest news has zero to do with Joe or Oleg, just Winky and Roy. These are the two fights it appears Bernard is seriously looking at. (Winky is an acceptable fight, which the winkster insists on 50-50 and to be held at 168-AKA, not happening) Your boy Roy is really getting pumped to, he wants a 50-50 split(possible because he is still a huge name). saying he would be all over the promotion of this fight which is exactly what boxing fans should be afraid of. (then wants the 4th fight with Tarver) Can you imagine Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. selling the absolute shit out of this fight for 4 months call it some gay name like "REDEMPTION" and then 500K people pay $50 to watch a stairing contest, yes you can imagine cant you.

That will end up dissapointed at the borefest and say "boxing sucks!" because they thought that it was gonna be a huge fight? That's EXACTLY how I feel about the upcomming Mayweather and Oscar fight. Mayweather is gonna be on his bike like Lance Armstrong. The Floyd-Oscar fight has at least the potential to be a great match. Hopkins has fought many tough fighters, including Oscar de la Hoya who he knocked out, and capped off his career by becoming a light heavyweight champion. Hopkins has only gotten older since Tarver. He may not be 'too old' but it's plenty obvious that he is not even 90% of what he used to be. Further, no one should dis Hopkins for taking Maskaev. Maskaev is big, can punch, and certainly will not be hurt by Bernard. That is a respectful fight to take and it is a risk. You expect Bernard to take on Klitschko? Roy Jones will not get raped by Bernard at any point in time simply because Hops does not throw enough leather these days (like vs Echols) to do something like that. The sad part about that is that some fighters understand that, yet they still end up brain-damaged and often in financial trouble. Look at the GOAT, Ray Robinson. Yeah. There really needs to be a boxing union or something that works towards retirement plans for fighter. They shed their blood for out entertainment....a decent retirement plan is the least that could be done IMO. Ali's pretty good shape, financially, I think, though.
