** British Boxers...why the lack of fights in the US?**

In the history of British boxing, fighting fellow Euro;s and over the hill americans have been the norm....and right now England has 2 of the top fighters in the World on their respective division, and it is like pulling teeth to try to get a great match up in the US with this guys....and I know you will say: Ricky is fighting in the US now" yes, after 41 fights with only 4 in the US before the Collazo fight...Joe C has not touch US ground for a fight in 42 fights.... Like it or not this trend dimish what ever possible glory they can grab in Europe to merley inunedos of "Ok great but can they win in the US" and in all honesty dimished their accomplishments...Lennox wsa the only Britsh boxer that I can recall that clearly understood the importance of fighting in the USA, hell the Klithsckos finally got it......and they came to the US to fight..... All this home fight always leave the door open for expeculation, well homer ref's etc....if the lose in US, then well you see the competiton in Englad was not that tought, or you get them outof England and they are average at best... And I know that Ricky and Joe C are the real thing...but it would be great if they solidify that greatness in the US...

at the end of the day first and foremost boxing is a buisiness! you fight where the money is doesnt matter wether thats in dreamland or disney land you fight where the money is. joe calzaghe isnt earning massive money but at the end of the day hel earn more selling out arenas in the uk then fighting on undercards of ppv fights or topping the bill in a smaller venue in america. thats why to fight in the us hel need to top the bill of a major fight with hopkins or taylor and either fight looks very unlikely atm. hatton is earning more money now due to the fact hbo is chipping in to hes purse and hbo want him to fight in the us so like i stated at the top you fight where the money is. but with hbo very interested in joe calzaghe now id expect him to fight there at least once before he retires I agree but we are not talking money, we are talking recognition, to be the Legitimize as a champ...

Once Calzaghe fights Hopkins he won't need the US for his time at 175 either. What with all 4 titlists being European. I'd like to see Calzaghe fight Hopkins in the US though, MSG or Las Vegas. More chance of controversy in the US however, I'd wager. If Joe C thinks that BHOP is going to the UK to fight....he is dreaming...BHop will tell Joe C...you want me...come and get it......and once agains a potential great fight and one that preatty much will complete Joe C legacy will not happened...

He's already turned down Taylor, and my guess is after Manfredo he'll move to LHW. Money is where he's going to go, he was adamant about that. He's openly stated that it's killing him to make weight for about four years now. He gave up on super-middleweight after the Mitchell fight because he didn't think he could make the weight anymore..

Kevin Mitchell said he'd rather fight at the York Hall (the home of boxing) than at the MGM Grand, and that winning the Lonsdale belt outright would mean more to him than winning the WBC title. He does plan on winning the WBC title and fighting at the MGM Grand, but it wouldn't mean as much to him as winning the Lonsdale belt outright at the York Hall. Carl Froch said likewise. And Naseem Hamed asked Ryan Rhodes if he wanted to swap his Lonsdale belt for the WBC belt - Ryan declined! Good shit. It's probably the number one place for Boxing at the moment, true enough. That won't always be true though. In Calzaghe's division the US isn't exactly a major player. That's just not true. you are denying the basic fact the U.S.A. is the mecca of professional boxing. It's probably the number one place for Boxing at the moment, true enough. That won't always be true though. In Calzaghe's division the US isn't exactly a major player.

The world is about the WORLD CHAMP. The US isn't neccessary for someone to be world champion. Let me just say this: Sure you can win world title anywhere in the world, no doubt, but to be LEGITIMIZE ou need to make your mark in the USA..this is not an attack on Euro or Brit boxing or any other place in the world, but is a fact...Manny Pacquiao won title in the PI's but it was not until he won the title over Lebwada in the USA and HBO that he shot into STARDOME....itm is a fact....
