He reported Simms was never a member of the team, or an alternate. Simms will be challenging Rivera for his belt but the WBA, after a lawsuit from Simms, has deemed Simms a "champion in recess." The Rivera-Simms bout is scheduled to air on Showtime January 6 as the chief support to the rematch between Samuel Peter and James Toney.
