Looking beyond the Manfredo fight...
IF the reports that Taylor won't move up are true (see the "Taylor to stay at 160!" thread). What is Calzaghe gonna do next?
My gues is he'll renew his efforts to get Hopkins in the ring.
If that fails he may try for Winky or possibly Tarver for a last money fight.
If none of those can be made he might just retire.
What do you ppl think?
Umm no.. that is correct.. the Danes colloaberated with the French in the Napolean Wars.. and the Germans in the Great War.. and WW2..
Its a fact ..
To think otherwise is IGNORANT..
Thats the Danes ..Always trying to ride on the coatails of someone elses glory
As i recall i didn't respond to a post about colloaboration, but to anoraks nazi-fixation.
But hey, if you can't tell the diff - join your nazi friend in the scum club.
Just as i thought - Ignorant scum!

Fuckin' 'ell, that's goin' a bit far, ain't it? It ain't the "British scum" who gassed the Jews and gypsies, remember? Sieg Heil!

Ouch. That's going to offend them pesky collaboraters.
I think most of us have long since realised that having belts do not make you a champion. As far as I'm concerned, Kessler is still a challenger. And from what I've seen of Manfredo he's a lot better than most of the fodder Kessler has faced.
Is Andrade really a better opponent than Manfredo? I can't see much evidence for that.
Manfredo would probably be a good fight for Kessler. And is probably a step up from 95% of his resume.
But yes, it's a crap fight for Calzaghe. HBO have a lot to answer for, especially if the Taylor or Hopkins fights don't pan out.
Yes, it would look very stupid, if he didn't get any of them.
But it's not just HBO picking JC's opponent is it?
I don't know how you could think of Manfredo as a good fight for any champ? Do you know something about Manfredo i dont?
Kessler's getting better and better fights, and would be attractive to anyone in smw, since JC is doing, what ever it is he's doing right now.
Fighting Andrade means more. Even if he hasn't been on a tv-show.

The more I see of Kessler, the more he reminds me of Veit.
:gives:
Are you looking forward to your boy faces Manfredo? It says so much about JC, nobody really needs to point it out.
LoL.. Just imagine if it was Kessler going after Manfredo. Would you ever shut up?
Heh heh heh. I bet your mam was tag teamed by a visiting british football team.
You're right though - why would Kessler want exposure on the biggest market in the region. That's just crazy talk.
You're a nut job.
I say let the unproven contenders - Froch and Kessler - fight. Then they can take on the champion. It's as good a route as any for Kessler to make himself an attractive opponent for Calzaghe and British TV, and it would mean Kessler fighting somebody who is actually a live opponent instead of Beyer or the rugger bugger.
Getting exposure on british TV will mean feck all to Kessler once Calzaghe is out of picture - and for all practical purposes he already is.
However even though it's a pretty pointless fight i still wanna see Kessler dismantle the cocky useless bastard (thats Froch).
If for no other purpose then to see the british scum on here humiliated.
The more I see of Kessler, the more he reminds me of Veit. The Veit that until recently only Calzaghe had beaten up twice ... once at home and once in Germany. Both were rather impressive in both their nature and against an undefeated opponent being hyped to high heaven by the Euros ... sound familiar?
It's strange you mention those three (as many seem to) when for me the beating of Woodhall was the most impressive, whilst the Mitchell and Brewer fights were the most entertaining bar the Eubank slugfest.
Having a close fight with a relatively decent fighter who showed blood and guts by putting up a hell of a fight while being thuroughly outboxed for the 10 rounds doesn't somehow make it a huge accomplishment. The fight was clearly over in the first round (or one of the early ones) where Woodhall got drilled and lost his mouthpiece but was basically out on his feet. He had his big moment of the fight in like the 6th or 7th round and even then it wasn't as though Zag was in that bad of shape.

I thought I'd bring this up...
It might seem outlandish but what tests has Calzaghe gone through? I mean, I'm not trying to suggest his Resume isn't better than Kessler's and Froch's put together but it's still a pile of shit. His 3 claims to greatness are an old, weight drained Eubank, overhyped Lacy, and a close decision against Robin Reid, all the while (pre Lacy) holding onto a single SMW belt? People in glass houses...
Calzaghe should be looking for a fight with Kessler.... regardless of what he wants to say. Yes, if he wants money and can manage to muster up a big fight with Taylor in the states then he's free to do so. But if he doesn't then there's no way around the fact that he'd be ducking Kessler.
Just put the fight together and then the questsion will have answers and both parties can move on.
Yup. Kessler is a danish hype job who got lucky and just happened to come across a couple of belts and thereby in two years achieve as much as Calzaghe has done in his entire career.
But let's forget about Calzaghe for a bit. After all Froch is the REAL BRITISH SMW king. Future P4P no. 1 no doubt. A man so skilled he doesn't need defence. A man so skilled he'd beat Calzaghe and ehhh... a clone of Calzaghe simultanously with one hand tied behind his back. A man who is both noble and modest. A true warrior and a source of pride for all of Britain.
It's evident for all to see.
God save Carl and the Queen, rule Froch and Britannia and cherio old chaps!

Well, if Manfredo doesn't get knoked out, i'd say Calzaghe didn't deliver.
It's not just us danes who think this fight is very meaningless. It's strange how fans defends this move.
Froch get's the chance when he's mandetory, Kessler want's the same thing as JC, a ticket to the US, and Froch woudn't be a shortcut.
I think Bute will be a force later on, and i would love to se him vs. kessler.
I hope JC finds the good fight he's looking for, so he isn't forced to take yet another nobody..
Like I said in the other thread on this, I detected some bitterness towards Warren/Calzaghe from Dibella. Calzaghe is wrapped up until April now, and knowing his fragile hands, who knows? I think Dibella and Taylor were planning on moving up until Joe signed to fight Manfredo and then pushed it back even. Notice Dibella was trying to trump that move by talking up Mora for Taylor. Definitely some bitterness there.
HBO wants the fight, that's obvious. But bringing Warren and Joe over to the states is going to be a chore. I see Warren and Dibella as personalities that could hold up this fight. That and of course the possibility of another broken hand from Joe.
but kessler is a unproven ( i wont say no good ) dane hype job whos getting attention for trying to get the number 1 smw to come to denmark

Let me say this Calzaghe in my opinion is takin a step-back by fighting Manfredo and needs to take a page from the JT saga and fight the best available opponents, shit i think it would have been a little more fulfilling if he fought Allan Green or the winner of Green V Manfredo! SHit if he cant get Hopkins or Taylor why not go for the guy that a lot of people are sayin is the heir apparent to the belt you so galently call your own an go after Kessler
