Most title defenses of ANY belt?

Ricardo Lopez I think defended his WBC Minimumweight belt 22 times before moving up a weight division, winning the IBF title, & defended that twice before retiring undefeated (although there was technical draw on his record) Undoubtedly one of the greatest, & longest reigning champs.

its not the most defenses...but the most amazing to me is wilfredo gomez he defended his 122 lbs. title for a record 17 times in a row with all the wins by way of k.o...And he never lost at SuperBantam. His three losses were at Feather (to Salvador Sanchez and Azumah Nelson) and SuperFeather (to Alfredo Layne). He had a string of something like 39 KOs at 122. He debuted with a draw, but went on to rack up those consecutive stoppages that was interrupted only when he tried to step up to Featherweight and was stopped by Salvador Sanchez in the 8th round. By then he already had 31 consecutive KO/TKO victories. He went back to SuperBantam after the defeat to pick up where he left off and registered 8 more stoppages, then wrested the WBC Featherweight title from Juan La Porte by UD. He lost that title to Azumah Nelson in his first defense, but went up to Jr. Light to take the WBA version from Rocky Lockridge in his next fight. He lost the WBA title to Alfredo Layne in his next appearance, then fought twice more (once and Light and another at Welter), knocked out both of his opponents, before bidding the sport good-bye. He finished his career at 44 Ws with 42 stoppages, alongside those three losses mentioned. Only Lockridge and La La Porte went the full route with him. Incredible record in any era. Truly amazing.

Joe louis was the longest reigning and he 20 so i imagine he has the most defenses of any world title
