Cotto vs Hatton

Hatton has a shot at 140 No shot at 147

This fight is very hard to pick. Hatton will look good at 147 vs someone like Cotto, who is not a southpaw slickster as Collazo was. I find myself favoring Hatton by stoppage due to Cotto's chin...not that it's awful, but it's bad enough to get hurt by Hatton me thinks. Dunno...

pre quintana and collazo i think 90% of the board would of predicted hatton to win , i dont undertstand how one fight can change all this? everybody knows cottos chin isnt to be desired corley had him out on hes feet , torres nearly had him but got messy going for the kill and if hatton was in there for them fights would cotto be undefeated? hell no. i understand that ppl say your as good as your last fight (if so stop watering down the dismantling of tszyu because he had a very early ko coming into the hatton fight). hatton has got all the tools to beat cotto , but cotto has got exactly the same tools (minus the chin) and thats wat makes the fight intriguin. whos gonna win? 140 ricky hatton 147 i would like to see more of hatton at this wieght but going from there 147 debuts cotto would probably win via tko Corleys punch hurt Cotto.. As for the Torres fight that's what you get when you fight someone with 26Ko out of 28 fights. Bum or not. Why was Tzsyu tight at the weight? I never knew that. Im not sayin Tszyu was in his prime by any means but he was cuming off a devastating win, however scared Mitchell was. the time in which hatton went to welterwieght was highly ideal preparation for a fighter who models himself with a 13 week camp. yah collazo rocked hatton but corley rocked cotto , its styles that make fights. i prefer hatton at 140 but like i said i would of liked to of seen him have the fight with urkal to see how he looked but he admitted he couldnt do 147 so dont ridicule him for telling the truth , what other fighter would admit they was wrong for there actions? 140 is hattons wieght to rule and he would of taken cotto out at that wieght (147 i aint sure) the tszyu that fought hatton still would of knocked him clean out given the chance thats why hatton had to smother hes right hand and the same tszyu would of murdered cotto The thing is you question Cotto's chin as a factor for Hatton beating Cotto. Hatton's chin never got tested against a puncher that was even near his prime. Tzu never got solid leather on him because Hatton was busy holding and hitting his way to stardom. Hatton was rocked by a light punching Collazo who had something like 12 KO's in about 26 fights and by Magy. Cotto was rocked by a guy who also rocked PBF in Corely and by Torres who is a KO artist. Also Hatton and his fans use the excuse of Hatton only having a couple of weeks to prepare for a fight at 147lbs and that is the reason for his performance. But then he runs away from the division and people say that its not his weight class. Well he can prove it was his limited time for preparation by fighting again but he decided to run back down to 140lbs. Cotto can no longer make 140lbs but would've beaten Hatton had they fought last year. At 147 Cotto would put Hatton on his ass IMO.

For Cotto vs. Hatton: Is it me or did Cotto look a bit hurt from the body punches he took? {and not talking about the nut shots} If so, maybe Hatton could hurt him to the body, although I am not sure of the power difference in Hatton and the guy Cotto fought. but if he does hit to the body, look for Cotto to throw bombs at Hatton's exposed Skull. Alot of peeps are sayin that but i didnt notice if he was hurt. And yeah he'd bomb Hatton if he tryed to work his body. Another thing, Cottos body shots are better than Rickys i think

First, if you look at the fight, Tszyu is missing a lot in the beginning, but when he finally lands a big shot, it stuns Mitchell, and he loses his legs making him target practice...Mitchell was also scared to death in facing Tszyu again...yeah, he talked shit for the time Kostya was injured, but when fight time came, he shit his pants...Tyson and Emanuel said they saw Mitchell in the locker room looking like he was preparing to die. And yes, 3 rounds is nothing for a fighter that has been off that long. Not sure which fighter said it, but it was an "old timer" like Basillio, Fullmer, or Lamatta, that said a fighter must fight often to stay in "fighting shape"...he suggested a fighter shouldn't go more than 3 or 4 months without a fight...a year is unheard of, let alone the amount Tszyu lost...Just look at what time off did to Tyson and Ali...also, Tszyu was 35, hormones on the decline, and you add in that he had two surgies, something that can really hurt the body chemistry, that's a problem...all that said, I still think it had to do with the weight, and maybe even the time of the fight, plus the gay holding. But you really can't take anything away from Hatton, he did what he had to do, and that is all you can ask, even if the fight should of been better (which was made crappy because of the gay holding). Tzsyu, fought and ANNIALATED Sharba Mitchell before fighting Ricky but yeah 3rounds in that long aint much! I was at both the Tszyu and Maussa fights and Maussa did not give Hatton a hell of a fight! He made it okward 4 a few rounds but that was it before that Awsum KO! Hatton is overrated....he beat the king at 140 who just happened to be fighting for the first time in like 2 plus years, is old and past his prime, at 2am in front of 100K soccer fans. it was a wrestling match. Hattons skin is like papermache' it will peel off him in a FIGHT not a wrestling match. His ass shouldnt even be in the top 10 p4p b/c he hasnt proved anything other then Tyszu....try to make the case for Carlos Maussa who gave him a hell of a fight. Now hes fighting urango who really lost in one of the most obvious bullshit fights in the past few years even teddy atlas said it was fuckin joke. Cotto would light his ass up....Collazo would to if they fought again at 147. and this Urango fight has potential to be a upset urango is garbage against a boxer but he is one of the most compacted inside fighters from 135 to 147. Taylor made for hattons style... I just dont understand why so many on this website ride his dick. he hasnt proved shit.... Gotta go with Cotto at either weight

My opinion on this fight is the same as it was a year ago, I think Hatton would win. Both are great fighters and nothing is guaranteed in boxing but I think Hatton would overwhelm Cotto and break him down. I think alot of you are only thinking of the Hatton that went in against Collazo, which was possibly the worst performance of his career. I've seen plenty of Hatton's fights and quite a few of Cotto's fights and believe me Hatton is a MUCH better fighter than what he showed against Collazo. Maybe I am a little biased having seen more of Hatton and he is my preferred fighter, but I love to watch Cotto fight aswell; I just lost some faith in him after the Torres fight. He looked like something special before that bout (apart from the minor blip against Corley). Anyway I think it would be a great fight and difficult to predict the winner but I would always lean slightly towards Hatton.

Cotto-Hatton is an excellent match-up. If Cotto maintains his unbeaten record and stays at 147, and Hatton comes through the Urango (likely) and Castillo (pick em) fights this has the makings of FOTY. Trouble is it won't be til sometime in 2008. As for a winner...Cotto by KO.
