i think if williams gets the right opportunities he will be able to surpass cotto. right now i think after floyd leaves that cotto will be the first to rule the division.
williams is where cotto was about two years ago but i think he will beat marg and if he and cotto fought i think he would win to. he's long fast and and able to dodge a lot of shots his defense is underrated in my opinion. his time is coming.
I just hope that Cotto and Williams can clean out the competition and build up the hype for a superfight. I can't see a way in which these two wouldn't make it a great fight, and it would make whoever the winner is a top 3 p4p, imo.
It's a little early for that...
This the same Williams whose biggest win was against over-the-hill Sharmba Mitchell, a very former top JUNIOR-welter,
& whose last fight was against an over-the-hill, very limited lightweight/Super Feather - who he couldn't even put away convincingly.
I think I'll wait a while before jumping on the Williams bandwagon.
I respect your opinion on Margarito, Williams, and Cotto as well Kaynan. You seem to be new here (judged by your post count) but appear to be an intelligent and considerate guy, so welcome to the forum and I hope you stay!
Appreciated, man.
Fuck a Margarito. He shouldn't even be in the equation. I just hope that Cotto and Williams can clean out the competition and build up the hype for a superfight. I can't see a way in which these two wouldn't make it a great fight, and it would make whoever the winner is a top 3 p4p, imo.
Glad to see the quality of posts is improving around here.
:ugh:
How is Williams gonna hope to fight Cotto once he loses to Antonio "The Tijuana Tornado" MARRRGARIITOOOO!
this fight should happen at 154, not 147, both these guys are too drained at welter. it looks like everybody's moving north to 154 anyway, it must be the place to be

After this past weekend's performance by Cotto, I still wonder how in the world there is people that still doubt Cotto's level and skill, it's plainly stupid.
BTW, may somebody please let Hatton know, that the way Cotto looked in his first fight at 147 is the way you are supposed to look, as well as let him know that that's the way you win a fight decisively, not by a gift from the judges.

I respect your opinion on Margarito (I like him) but I feel like he is the most limited of all the fighters. Yeah, yeah, he's strong, but Williams can match that. And Margie's slow ass hands would be ill suited for Williams' reach (if the fucker used his reach!). As far as Cotto goes, the buck stops there for ALL the aforementioned as well as unmentioned WW's.

I saw Margarito buckled hard a few times, I think he was a bit lucky Clottey got tired, I don't give Margarito a good shot at Cotto or Williams anymore, Margarito needs to move up to 154 now. He looked slower and the power he showed against Cintron wasn't there either, he looked drained.
Williams has a lot to grow as a fighter...I would personally like to see him with Emanuel Steward, but Emanuel doesn't seem like he has the time.
When you think about it, boxing really does suck right now: Few good trainers, and Pros today, because of the lack of amatuer background, being without good teaching, they are so far behind. Very Sad
I doubt he will stay at WW too long I mean it has to be tough to make that weight even with his build being as tall as he is.........I would say 2 maybe 3 more fights and he should be moving up.
I think Margarito would beat Cotto and Williams. Then again, I am a little biased because I like Margarito's style so much. In my imagination, I always see Margarito catching these guys with a big shot and swarming them for the kill. Margarito always gets caught early repeatedly but he turns things around when he lands a big one. A lot of his fights follow this script and I love it.
He just needs to be careful of ring wars on his way to elite fighters. He doesn't want his body to be finished too early in his career.
