The Welterweight division has twice as many stars as Featherweight yet Manny and Floyd share the same number of "named opponents" on their records.
Manny KO Moralles > Floyd UD Baldomir
Manny TKO Barrera > Floyd UD Judah
Floyd has Mosley, Margarito, Hatton, Winky Wright and De la hoya in his own backyard, and he wants to retire after only one more fight? PBF doesnt deserve to be #1 untill he takes advantage of his situation and starts KO'in muthafuckaz like Pacman.
p4p best boxer in the world... think about that. the best boxer is floyd. (imo)
pac is doing more - more exciting etc. but floyd is still a far more polished boxer. thats just how i see it.
Manny is the new Tito, at a lower weight. He can crush opponents, but might get outpointed by a skilled runner. His recent performances have been electric - Barrera, Marquez, Morales * 3, Larios, Velazquez, 3K Battery. I don't recall any of the "morales is shot" Sunday morning experts predicting the 3 round blowout we got. A mighty impressive performance.
There are probably three Hall of Fame opponents there - Barrera, Morales, Marquez. Two of those got crushed, and the third almost KO'd.
What about PBF? He looks fantastic against Sosa, N'Dou, Corley, Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir.
Not a single Hall of Fame fighter there. How good would Manny look against a similar lower class of fighters? He'd be unbeaten for sure. Fortunately we don't have to guess about how good Manny is, because he is doing it in the ring.
What interests boxing fans more - watching competitive fights or reading P4P ratings? Hopefully you don't have to think about that.
I understand why PBF wants to fight semi-retired DLH next - money and a desire to assume the PPV popularity of DLH. This is the first risk PBF has taken in about 4 years, even though DLH is past his prime. But if he really is "one and done" and that's his last fight, he leaves many questions unanswered. If PBF gets clocked by a few DLH left hooks and survives, I'll give him a lot of credit. If he runs for 12 rounds and gets booed, I hope he retires because boring PPV's are not good for the sport.
wowwww
that was the most electrifying crowd i have ever seen.
the stadium was gonna blow up, incredible fight.
and YES, PACMAN iS P4P #1
you watched it live right? how did concepcion do?
Yeah, and thats ok.
Whats your point?his point is... oh yeah, he doesn't have one. pac man may be number 1 but if he fought floyd at 130 pounds he'd lose to him. people seem to forget how tough floyd really is. the man has taken punishment in his fights but still for some strange reason, wins them by a landslide anyway. my poiunt is pac put on a great performance but he's not #1 p4p. that spot is still floyd mayweather. we can agree to disagree all we want but put floyd against pac and watch floyd demolish him then a lot of others will see what i mean.
mayweather is still no.1.
(but i still i think margarito will KO him)hell no he wouldn't.
not to go off subject, who is that chick in your sig. her rack is phenonimal.
The thing is too, Floyd is a slick fighter with alot of boxing skill. He is hard to hit so it is easy for him to move up to higher wieghts without having to endure that much punishment to his naturally smaller frame. Pacquiao is a more of a brawler and gets hit alot. Unless Pac gets better at avoiding punces, which he has a bit, and putting his guard up, he will get hit by naturally bigger guys.
so what weight classes r harder to u.108-130? or 130-154?
It depends who they fight at that weight class. Pound for pound Morales, Barrera, JMM are definitely harder opponents than Baldomir, shambra mitchell or even Zab Judah for matter. I'm not saying Floyd aint the most skilled fighter in the world. I'm just saying he hasn't fought anybody worth mentioning of late except for maybe Zab who is far from Mayweather's caliber. If by harder you mean Physically, all you have to do is look at the damage done to fighters at both weight classes. Were all made of skin and bones and a 130 pounder is just as suceptible to the same exact punishment as a 147 pounder. Noses break at 130 or below, cuts happen at 130 or below, Unconciousness happens at 130 or below, hands break at 130 or below, permanent damage happens at 130 or below, deaths happen at 130 or below. If you mean skill wise I think the talent pool is deeper at 130 than 147. At 140 the talent pool is pretty deep. If Floyd beats DLH, I will not question that he is the true #1. I don't think he can do it though.
There is a huge difference in power from 108 to 130, HUGE. I'm pretty big guy and think I can handle a punch from a good puncher at 108(They still pack a wallop compared to your average joe at any weight) I have gotten hit by a fly weight before and was surprised at how hard they punch relative to their weight. Move up weight class and a guy like Arce or Darchinyan would definitely be ALOT more to handle. Those guys would definitely hurt me. Step up a little higher to a guy like Rafael Marquez, That guy could easily tear me up and knock me out. Step up higher and those guys would kill me. I am not your average Joe too. I just know how powerful these guys really are. It is not really the power though, it is how well you can take a punch at a higher weight. I believe Pac has the more than enough power to KO at 135-140, no doubt, but can he take a punch at that weight? That is the question.

the power could be sorta the same from 108 to 135. now going from 130 to 154? thats a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge step in power and how ppl fight.most ppl in lower weight class throw shit loads of punches without much power behind them.now going in the weight classes floyd is in,once u jump to 135 ppl start fighting different, theres less punch's and more meaningful and powerful 1s:boxing:

He has faced more World Champions that Manny has.
Are people forgetting that Morales was totally done???
This trilogy was decided in round 10 of the 2nd fight. Actually it was decided in rounds 5-10 of the 2nd fight when Pac was beating on Morales at will. This win is being blown way out of proportion
Pac is up there on the P4P list, but he hasn't topped Mayweather, Winky, or even Calzaghe or Taylor, until they lose. I'd put him at #5 ahead of Hatton since Pac has beaten better opposition. But cmon, this doesnt make Pacquiao instant hall of famer, he beat a washed up Morales who honestly never had a chance.
Got to say I'm with Super Lightweight on this.
Floyd's recent resume is OK, not great. His only demolision is of Gatti, a mediocre boxer with HUGE heart.
Pac has BLASTED far better opposition.
Pac P4P no. 1.
Floyd's great but he's not shown us the extent of his greatness. It needs to be shown against top opposition. The DLH fight might be the one to do so but an immediate retirement after will hurt his legacy badly in my opinion.

Pac came up from 108. If that aint stepping up to more weight classes, I don't know what is. He'll probably end up at 135, don't know how well he'll do but judging from last night he should be competition.
