I was wondering what kind of fight Erik Morales would try to fight. The reason is that in the last fight he was talking about retirement and how he was about done with boxing. He took a long break and came back and signed a fight with Pac. But I believe that he realized that he was going to retire during his break. Pac was just easily the fight that would earn him the most money.
Erik Morales knew Pac was the better man so he just went along with the hype trying to tell people that he was feeling good and in great shape. I believe that he truely felt the opposite though. He got in shape and made weight to just simply fight for the money.
Erik was saying after the fight that he did the best he could and Pac just beat him but that usually isn't the way he is during a loss. Erik usually is trying to attack his loss but this time it was different.
This thread isn't to discredit Pac at all as I believe he came into the fight with even more skills than he has ever had. This thread also isn't to make Erik sound like a bitch. This thread is to bring a real look into why the fight was the way it was.
I agree with the threadstarter, I feel this fight for Erik was purely for financial reasons. There was no incentive for him to fight on and so he went out early. A lot of nutthuggers refuse to see what is in plain view.
I have to completely disagree with this, Morales is a warrior and is straight up when he says he never fights just for money. I think Morales worked his ass off to make weight and to try to win the 3rd fight againts Manny. To say that he was in it solely for fanancial reasons is to say Morales quit before the fight even began. No doubt Manny was the biggest fight out there for Morales and he would make the most money fighting manny, I believe he went in the fight wanting and trying his best to win. You are the one looking like a nuthugger because you completely discredit Morales just to make your point. I would believe Morales over you.
eric is completley washed up, he got domminated by rahheem and almost drop at one point, got dominated by pac twice his punches are so slow and he has no legs
morales wouldnt beat raheem at any point in his career..just like trinidad wouldnt beat wright at any point in his career..thats just the way it is
erik morales dosent have the skills to move up in weight anyway so he might as well retire..i said that 2 months..once he left 126 he was a very average fighter..he cant beat freitas diaz casamayor guzman none of those guys so he might as well call it quits
I was on with my prediction
Before every major fight, Boxingscene's staff puts out a prediction article giving reasons why they think the fight will go the way it will. In my forecast, I stated "this fight just reminds me of the Pryor-Arguello fights, a great featherweight on the slide making his last stand against a vicious predator." What stood out about the second fight was the utter viciousness of the close, give and take combat that was fairly even until the older fighter blinked first. Similar to the first encounter between Aaron Pryor and Alexis Arguello, Pryor's unrelenting attack was too much a load for the Nicaraguan legend to handle.
In the second Pryor-Arguello encounter, Arguello fought as hard as he could until he had exhausted his will and elected to stay down while still bearing his wits. Almost to the script, Morales followed suit, with the only deviation being that Morales lasted just three rounds.

Here is a sneak peek at my next column "Pacquiao destroys Morales Physically, Division Mentally"
not even close to FOTY. shouldnt even get a mention. Really onesided against a faded fighter.
And i still have WRIGHT (if he beats quartey) above pacquioa because MOrales was old and faded and as good as pac looked, it wasnt a HUGE accomplishment

Well maybe Morales should have worn some pheromones to keep Manny away from him during the fight :luvbed: :ok:
Sry this is a Boratish thread.
:-) sry i had to borrow ur dog for a bit :-)
As of now, I have NO arguement with this post. In many ways, Manny has impressed me more than Floyd to be quite honest. He takes on the best, and he beats them. I'll admit taht Morales was past his best; but he's not "shot"...well, he didn't look shot last night. He was aggressive, accurate, full of spunk, and I believe he could have beaten 90% of the junior lightweights out there.....and Manny destroyed him.
Manny has carried his power with hiim all the way up from flyweight for crying out loud! Floyd had some pop at 130; but he has yet to hurt a legitimate welterweight contender...which means his power, such as it was, didn't come with him. Also, he has seemed less than anxious to take on all teh best since moving up from lightweight.....and it can be argued that Pacquiao has taken on better competition than Floyd over the last couple of years......and Manny's getting better. He is in his prime right now and put an all-time great away in 3 rounds...and it wasn't a blow out; he was just too strong. Erik was battling until the end; Manny just had too much for him at this stage of his career.
So yeah, Manny's staking his claim, no doubt.
I'm 100% in agreement with your post. The only recent fight where Floyd has put someone away like this was Gatti and Gatti ,love him though I do, is not even in the same league and had no reason to be in the ring with Mayweather.
Now if Mayweather can put away DLH like this.......
Morales Training
Props to Pac-man, he worked hard and it showed.
Before the fight started, the Morales' team mentioned quite often of Erik's new training methods and high tech methods used to cut weight and retain his skill and strength in some L.A center?
a.) Whether he would have been dominated either way, did this "High-Tech" training procedures help him or no?
b.) If it did not, what does this say about old school training vs. new school "high tech"
c.) To what extent can there be balance between the new and old?
-Iwagh
Side note: Although Morales was dominated in this fight, people should still show him respect for what he's done for boxing. Recent threads that say, "I'm embarressed to be Mexican" are not only disrepectful but also show a lot of immaturity...
Pac Man is that good...we have listen to how good the Flash Elorde's are and the Salvador Sancheze's are and the JC Chavez are and they all have there merit...but lets give our own their due!
Its now time to crown our own era and our own champion....Mister Manny Pacquaio, the guy is as good as there is and as good as there ever was...dont let some historian tell you that this guy or that guy is better because you have never seen them fight...Manny is the king precisely because you have seen him fight...
You have seen dominance, against all opponents, time and time again...isnt that some real special shit?
Manny is damn special, you believe it motherfuckers, cuz if you dont the next generation certainly will!
Does anyone believe that we have not seen one of boxings all time greats?
Lets hear your thoughts?

Naah i dont think it was FOTY,Hagler Hearns was non-stop action, they never stoped swinging,in Hagler Hearns both fighters got hurt,u didnt know who would win,Hagler was badly cut,u never knew what could have happened,Morales didnt hurt Pac and after the knockdown it was all Pacman
I would love to see Pacman beat shit into Marquez just to shut a load of haterz up.
they arent just haterz but just trying to divert the attention to pac's latest dominance :p
Pac looked great last night but it's also due in part to an old Morales. I don't think he'd have looked this good against Guzman, JMM, or Barrera.
:D ....imma going to sleep now.... :p
Not great? I just said he is easily a top 3 fighter. However, that doesnt make him God like some people are trying to say.
I just dont feel like Pac has changed all that much from the 1st Morales fight. The guy who has changed alot is Morales.
ive been expecting something like this to come out... :D
