So much banter concerning this fight....Speak now or forever hold your peace. This is probably going to be the most anticipated fight of 2007...lets hear it!!!!!!
Your right I do think that this will be a very tough fight for him and a good test, but if he wins, you have to give him credit. You say that you don't think he is ready for Floyd, but I'm not so sure about that for the reason that I thgink 147 will be a much better weight for him. I think he will be stronger at 147, where Floyd already seems to have shown signs that 147 isn't his best weight. I feel that all these fighters like Cotto,Floyd,Hatton etc. etc. need to stop being so cautious an just fight each other, the way that DLH,Tito,Shane,Vargas, etc. etc. By these guys being so cautious is really fucking over the fans. You say Marg hasn't done anything to deserve recognition or a shot. Here is my problem with that. If that is your reason, my response to that is: What did Baldy do to deserve a shot. I mean nop one knew who Baldy was until he got a shot and beat Zab. he was suppose to be a warm up a speed bump. No one had a clue who he was. He got his shot and made the most of it. I like Baldy but he was nothing than a glorified journeyman that got his 15 minutes of fame and all of a sudden he is such worthy competition for Floyd or done so much to earn a shot. he beat an overrated unfocused Judah and an old over the hill Gatti that he was much bigger than. neither Judah or Gatti are legit welters. Don't get me wron I love Arturo but the truth is he has been past his prime for a long time even before he fought Floyd. I am not defending Marg but looking at this situation objectively Marg would have destroyed both Judah and Gatti. All I am saying is that he is just as legit as Baldy, but just hasn't been given the oppurtunity. Baldy got the shot because like I said he was just suppose to be a stepping stone that ended up shocking everyone and becoming a Cinderella story, but the clock was gonna eventually strike midnight, and Floyd beating Baldy isn't all that impressive. He did what he was suppossed to do. I mean come on dude did have 9 losses. Now had Floyd knocked him out I would have been impressed, but just getting the UD is waht was expected and nothing more. That is not hating it is just the simple truth, weather people agree or not which I am sure a lot of people won't but it's the honest truth.
Baldo earned his shot by becoming Zabs mandatory. Marg won a vacated belt and got beat by the man who held it. enough said about that. Cotto isnt ready for Floyd he would lose badly right now just based on what I saw in the Malanagi fight. I will reasses when he fights quintana. Oh and I highly doubt that Marg destroys Zab Judah he probably will beat Gatti just because Gatti isnt a 147lb fighter and all his advantages go out the window at that weight. Also i was impressed with Mayweathers fight with Baldy I didnt expect him to KO a guy who has only been stopped once at that weight. Floyd is a natural 135lb/140lb at most I dont expect him to KO guys at 147+ but if he does that is a major achievement.
i don't think cotto is quite ready for a superfight against mayweather, he needs to put some more experience under his belt. i do think, however, that if floyd sticks around, which i think he will, cotto down the line can give mayweather all he can handle, and maybe then some
At this stage of his career, Mayweather was fighting the same tough opponents...
Well I don't know what happened to him than. I am talking about present time, not six years ago when he fought Corrales and Castillo. he needs to find that again. I'm not defending Cotto, all I am saying is that you have to give dude props for fighting this fight in his first appearance at 147.
Dont get me wrong im not trying to bash Cotto at all. Cotto is a great boxer and a good Champion. I think the quintana fight will be a tough fight for him and a great test. I just dont think he is ready for a Mayweather type of a fight yet and his people are correct to not want him in there with Floyd. He has so much more to gain by beating guys like Quintana, Cintron, Margarito and Williams. When he is done with that I think a superfight with another big star should happen who knows Maybe Williams vs Cotto will be a superfight. I am Bashing Margarito though because dude aint done a damn thing to get all this recognition. It is sad to see Cotto taking on tougher opposition in his first fight at 147 than Margarito possibly ever has in is entire career. Its probably why Cotto is the Main event.

Man, Cotto was trying to fight Oktay Urkal and not Quintana for the title. They were desperately trying to get Quintana to step aside, but Quintana wouldn't. They ended up paying Urkal to allow Cotto to challenge for the title. If this wasn't the only way Cotto could get a title shot, he wouldn't have anything to do with Quintana...
It doesn't really matter, the point is he is fighting him and thats the bottom line. Like I said I am not the biggest Cotto fan but this is a dangerous fighjt and id he wins, you have to give him credit is all I am saying. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Quintana won.
Your right Cotto and Marg aren't in DLH's league, but you have to give Cotto props for taking on Quintana in his first fight at 147, and not the likes of an old Sharmba Mitchell. Say what you want and I'm not the biggest Cotto fan but I have to respect him for taking such a dangerous fight that the opponent has a legit shot of winning. Floyd needs to take a page out of Cotto's book here. This isn'r exactly gonna be a safe fight, but you have to give Cotto props for testing himself at a brand new weight and not just taking some warm up.

This is one of the dumbest post i have ever seen. Cotto's people dont want his ass anywhere near Floyd. Margarito hasnt proved shit to nobody. dude isnt even a legit champion and has never faced a legit champ and won. please get out of here with this nonsense. Infact this reminds me of all the retards i knew back in the day talking about Deigo Corrales is going to KO Floyd. At least Deigo actually fought champions and won. No slow ass fighter like Cotto or Margarito are going to do shit to Floyd, he would box in and out and frustrate both these fools until they either give up, get TKOed or lose every round. Fact is DLH is more dangerous than either of them.

Exactly. PBF goes on and on about building a "legacy" but can't achieve that objective while clearly avoiding Margarito and/or Cotto.
It's just another reason (a big one) why many fight fans dislike PBF. He's saying it ain't about the money and insists it's about his legacy. Then he goes straight for DLH!

I hope Oscar goes for the kill.
He can take a good shot from much bigger men, he needs to land big shots on the slippery Floyd.
He needs to be very aggresive.I think pretty much all of us agree...(except for some who think it will be a blow out for either side)...that this is going to be the fight of 2007 and maybe this decade 2000-2010....except of course for Rocky Balboa "The Italian Stallion" vs. Mason "The Line" Dixon...ODH/PBF will be the biggest PPV of our time...dont ya think?

I think Oscar definately has the advantage at 154. Also Floyd seems to have lost some of his speed and quickness as e has moved up and already lacks in the power dept. I don't think his speed will be as much of a factor at 154 as it does at lower weight classes. I'm not sayting he won't e quick, but not what he was at 135 or 140. I don't think he will be able to hurt Oscar at all.
Exactly my opinion. Oscar by UD

what are talking about? for one he has wanted this fight forever and for two dlh is still more of a threat than marg is by far and you know what's going to be hilarious is when floyd goes up to 154 and wins something that marg couldn't do.
Exactly. This fight will be a great cardiovascular workout for Floyd but his chin will be as unmarred as the day he was born. You just know Margarito and Cotto have wet dreams about cracking Floyd one in the chin. If either gets a fight with him, at least you know they will give their big break all they have. They won't be trying to survive, they will try to kill Mayweather.
ODH will be content to just go the distance and not mix it up too much. He has money, health, and looks and he'll want to be able to retire to enjoy all of them. Its for this reason that Mayweather-ODH will not be a thrilling fight. Mayweather wants the win on his record, and the money, and Oscar just wants one last big fight to add to his Scrooge McDuck vault.
.... I'd rather see Mayweather in with a hungry Margarito or Cotto .....

It'll be 12 rounds of pitty-patt, pitty-patt and bicycle followed by pitty-patt and bicycle by PBF, all night long.
He's much much faster and skilled than DLH, both offensively and defensively, but won't take out DLH.
well, boxrec has him at 33(born 1973), but i guess that could be wrong... floyd at 29, born 1977...
Okay. Now I know where my thinking went astray. He's going to be 34 next year...I rounded up. :D
