Just reading the round by round coverage is comical. According to the round by round, it was a shutout for Klitschko, but you then read HBO scores it for Brock! lol I can't wait to see the judges scorecards! It sounded like a Ruiz hugfest, oh well, another unimpressive win for Klitschko, who should have walked right through Brock. GOD please send us a GOOD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION who actualy COMES TO FIGHT!!!!
Soundtraveler,
I will agree with you, but only if you admit the same about Mayweather and his merely doing enough to win vs. Baldomir. The difference for me is that for all the trouble he had early on Klitschko eventually produced the knockout, one of the cleanest and most visually impressive I've seen in heavyweight boxing in years, so it was a more satisfying result for those attending IMO.
There cannot be a double standard yet with the Klitschkos there often is.
PS You are a great poster here and I have a lot of respect for you. You don't deserve to have people calling you can idiot on this forum.
Leo,
Don't call Soundtraveler an idiot. He is a boxing insider and very knowledgeable. He's also entitled to his own opinion without having to be insulted for it.
I agree completely with you on the Mayweather performance. You get my point, and I am not suprised as you are one of the brightest posters here.
Any fighter who enters the ring with a "I will only do what I have to do attitude" does not do the sport justice. Boxing fans are ENTITLED to see a quality effort from the fighters. The fans paying the ticket price to see the show or worse yet the fight fan who can't really afford to do it - but goes ahead and pays $50.00 for a PPV only to get a hugfest is getting ripped off.
These guys get millions - the fans deserve more bang and less hugfest.

I thank you for that, it's my opinion that Klitschko should have won the fight that is after all, why he took the fight, because his camp thought he would win. But also I have to say that he should have taken Brock - who had no answer for him - out in the first couple of rounds, he just did not show the warrior side that I am looking for. Even with a KO half way through the fight, against a fighter who brought nothing to hurt him, he did not show me that he is the "be all - end all of the division" or the "All Time Great" that some people make him out to be.
fair enough and I do pretty much agree with all of that
C'mon man, so everyone who had the fight even going into the 7th watched a different fight? And even the round by round coverage was talking about the crowd booing very loudly at all the hugging, and THAT is supposed to be the BEST thing to happen to boxing since punches? I make no beans about not being a Klitschko fan, I was simply commenting on the supposed "shutout" on the round by round coverage.
I am looking for a fighter with some heart in the division, one who isn't content to throw a one-two and hold. Is that really too much to ask for?
maybe you need to watch the fight first before running your mouth. brock was the one doing most of the holding and wlad did exactly what he had to do to win. it wasn't a shutout but another impressive win for wlad in my book.
I hear youre a good guy and a good poster so I'll be more polite about it in the future when and if I disagree with you.
wlad should have been a little more agressive in the earlier rounds and and used his distance a little better but a big part of it was brocks awckwardness. most of brocks past fights have been boring because of his style and that was a big part of wlads problem,,, but he did adapt and took him out impressively. I give his performance a B+. he closed the show like a champion is supposed to after a sluggish start

Leo, if you want to exploit stupidity, I would suggest you begin with your own posts, there is plenty to work on right there and I am quite sure it will take you considerable time to figure out what I am talking about.
Look man, if you are satisfied with a mediocre performance from a fighter getting paid millions of dollars that is your perogative - but I personaly don't settle for such. Klitschko won the fight - he was supposed to - but they had the crowd booing at the lack of effort. I don't care who is in the ring - if the crowd is booing the fighters are NOT doing the job they are there to do. Leo these guys get paid more in one night than most people will make in their LIFETIME including YOU, so why is it wrong for me to demand more effort for that kind of money?

I will exploit stupidity when I see it and his talking shit about the fight was pure stupidity, I dont know the guy true but what he sad was a bunch of crap...

...Leo, JD is a good guy and he has been in and around the business for many many years. I disagree with him 100% on Wlad and it caused me to jump him in this very thread as well. I appologized to him in person on the phone a short while ago in fact. He's entitled to his opinion even if he is wrong, and he really isn't an asshole in any way, shape, or form. For some reason, Wlad doesn't thrill him. Remember, this is the same guy who invited a ton of people from here out to his house, put them up, and got them introduced to many great fighters at a couple of boxing events. Most recently he did it for the Taylor/Winky Wright fight. He loves boxing and has an opinion just like everyone else. You and I agree on this fight for sure. Wlad was a little sluggish at first but he dominated and got the job done. I had him winning all 6 rounds before the stoppage with the possible exception of the 2nd round, and the way he closed the show was beautiful.

your an idiot, the fight was good I and many other people enjoyed it, Klitschko beat Brock impressively, I dont know why your crying, you have no case at all your just an asswhole hater who doesnt want to give respect where its due...

You see people, THIS is how to post a comment. Nice job. You are right about his stamina, I have seen much better uppercuts and hooks (Tyson for instance) but Klitschko's is decent, as I said he offers "little" else save the jab. He doesn't move particularly well but he is quick handed, obviously the guy has some skill, but really - is he the BEST thing since punches in the division like so many people seem to think?
imo the only thing he really lacks offensively is the uppercut and body punching. he does throw in combinations with the jab,, left hook,, right hand combo,,,,altho it was mainly just the 1-2 in this particular fight. it was enough and did the job
Leo, you obviously know nothing about me, but that's not a big deal to me. If the fight was so "entartaning" as you so elequently put it, you must like to hear the crowd booing, or perhaps you enjoy man hugs rather than punches being thrown by the fighters. A quality fighter moves around the ring and doesn't let his opponant charge in for the hug. It's basic boxing 101. I see by your pic that you have a decent sized fist, but I see by your nose that you have never been in the ring... nuff said

Actually, he has a good hook and uppercut, but Manny made him into pretty much a Lennox Lewis carbon copy. He can also flurry pretty damn good when he gets the chance. We all know what that does to his stamina though... heh
Brock has a funny defense and that's why I think it took so long for KO to crack him. Nothing from Calvin though, he's a damn good heavy weight, just not in league with the top contenders yet in my eyes. Then again who wouldn't have trouble fighting someone a half a foot taller with longer arms.

I had it a shutout because Brock was initiating a majority of the holding. Klitschko was often holding his hands behind his back to show Brock kept holding. Brock was fighting ugly, looked off-balance, he could not get inside and tried to often by rushing Klitschko like a bull - and all Klitschko had to do was grab him to stop the rush. There two rounds that could have went Brock's way, but a 3-4 landed bodyshots that had no affect were not enough for me to give him the round when Klitschko controlled almost the entire round with a jab that landed more often. Brock fought at Klitschko's pace and never tried to let his hands fly.
Even with the cautious approach by both fighters in the early rounds, it was still more exciting than last week's fight that saw both men barely throw anything for almost twelve rounds.

are u retarted I mean seriously did u even see the fight???
Brock was crawling like a pig when he hit the canvas...
You see fight fans, some of you make the point that Brock offered NOTHING against Klitschko, and by that, you are making my point about Klitschko for me. You see, if Brock had nothing, and presented no threat to Klitschko, then why did it take the "awesome" Klitschko 7 rounds to dispatch of him? The answer is simple, he lacks the heart of a GREAT Champion. A truly GREAT Champion would have realized Brock was not a threat and would have and SHOULD HAVE jumped all over him and got him out within a round or 2 at most.
Klitschko offers little more than a "one - two" he is actually rather one dimensional in that aspect, get past the jab and he offers little else, and THAT does NOT equal a GREAT fighter in my eyes.
Ask yourself : If Klitschko were the SMALLER fighter in his bouts, how would his skill level match up against the others in the division? Do you REALLY think he would stand out? ------ I don't.

Again I am saddened by the lack of even "decent" command of the english language displayed by some posters. (see above post) Why not try to post a thought provoking response rather than throw insults? Schooling works, some of you should have given it a chance...
