Hes had alot of fights, and i havent seen all of them, but earlier i watched him against David Telesco, and it was just fucking amazing to watch.
Anyway, which wa his best performance?
His greatest win?
Or just ur favourite Jones fight.
I know those are three different questions, but i dont want to limit the thread.
im not a big fan of roy jones, but i gotta say, watching him fight was nothing short of spectacular.
the ruiz fight was probly his best performance and most significant performance, IMO.
The Clinton Woods fight gets my vote - Woods still a llttle inexperienced at the time, but a very game, top contender.
After a few rounds where it looked like Woods had a real chance, Jones went up a gear & Woods just fell apart.
Very impressive stuff.
off the head, def Pazienza, Thorton, Hall, Tarver 1, Ajamu he was amazing I thought, ummm, there's so many... if you get get Roy Jones greatest knockouts, that one has a beautiful variety of his fights. I've seen every single one...I have every single one...good shit
The Eric Lucas fight was the one where Roy played in a basketball game before the fight. I'm sure of it. I remember watching that fight live. Roy gave Lucas a beating for 12 rounds.
In the Griffin rematch, Roy came out like he was posessed. That's the only time I've ever seen Roy fight like he didn't care if he got hit. He came out throwing vicious left hooks, trying to take Griffin's head off with every one he threw.
i saw the eric lucas - roy jones fight. i remember it well, i'd never seen eric lucas fight before. he was tough, he took a beating for 12 rounds, his face was a mess, but he kept going, every round he'd back roy into the corner at least once and land a combination of body punches. it was the only time he was able to hit roy. i was impressed with lucas' heart. after that, i watched him in one of his other fights, against an average pro. lucas destroyed him in less than four rounds
Toney at his best (not in a hospital bed the night before) would of beaten Jones and Griffin at his best (not after getting rid of Eddie Futch and training himself) did beat Jones.
Toney had two chances against Griffith and failed 'em both; and it is irrelevant about his weight issues when he fought Jones. It's not Roy's fault that Toney couldn't show some self control.
Both men knew what was at stake going into that fight and Toney blew it.
Regarding Jones loss to Griffith and Eddie Futch, I'm not taking anything away from Griffith's performance in the first fight; but Roy let himself down that night with stupidity. Nothing can be taken away from his vindication at the rematch. His demolition of Griffith in the second figth was perfection.

Lucas who? Eric is that who you mean? I don't think they fought. I tryed to look on boxrec but for some reason they don't have Roy Jones on boxrec.
Boxrec does have his record, its on the second page.
And he did fight Eric Lucas, i dont think ive seen it.
The Paz fight was exciting, but Jones looked huge against him. And the fight was a total mismatch.
The Griffin rematch was great, although he basically bombed Griffen out. But the finishing punch was an amazing shot. I still dont know how he was able to get such power into it.
But for me the fight was too quick.
I love the Merqui Sosa fight. I believe that was Jones first fight at LH.
But some of the combos were great.

Vinny Paz, Toney, And Griffin II are some of my favorites.
When it comes to knockouts, his right hand against Art Serwano was one of his most vicious. It was scary to watch Serwano's eyes roll back into his head like that after hitting the canvas.
yeah, i have that serwano fight. that's one of the greatest knockouts i've ever seen.

The second griffen fight for sure and maybe even the Bryant Brannon fight. When he fought Brannon he had played a pro basketball game just before the fight, on the same day. Then Brannon bull rushed him right at the begining and threw over 100 punches in 30 seconds. Jone covered up and waited after the rush he floored Brannon twice and stopped him in the 2nd. Before flooring him he turned to the ref and said hey should'nt you stop this the ref just looked at him so Roy took him out. Roy landed a 7 left hook combo in that fight and still to this day I have'nt seen it done. He did all this while knowing his whole purse was being donated to charity.
i thought he played basketball before the lucas fight? iam almost positive.
pitching a near shut out against toney is up there....
not getting hit for an entire round against paz and than finishing paz they way he did was also very impressive.
for me though, the griffin revenge fight is the best.... after all that was going on between both camps and roy came out like that was insane...
best KO was against virgil hill... that body shot was brutal
The guy was in a league of his own.
He wasn't unbeatable, I'd take Nunn over him every time, McClellan and Jones would of been awesome, and Benn would of been a tough one. And Eubank I think was wrong for him.
But man, Jones was on his own as far as catching your breath.
In alot of Jones fights he may win by a mile, or clown around alot, or coast when he is ahead and only show his best every now and again.
But against Telesco, he was very aggresive throughout the fight, he showed it all, body shots, amazing right leads that put Mayweather to shame (almost), sickening rights to the body, left hooks, 4 punch combos.
And he did this almost in every round.
He fought off the ropes, he countered, he used his jab, he went toe to toe. That fight had it all. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS FIGHT.
Telesco was very game and was trying to piss Jones off, saying he couldnt stop him.
Jones hit him with everything he had, and looked like superman. (Yea, i know my heads up his ass now, but i havent seen Jones like that in a long time).
