De La Hoya is always saying how hes fighting the guy the fans want him to, and he HAS done that for much of his career.
then he comes out and says "If i DO fight again, it'll be against Mayweather"
Now He's offering Trinidad fights and threatening retirement.
I understand from a business point of view, why DLH would want to "play mind games" with Mayweather, but its pissing off the fans. Just make up ur mind already.
I would lose a ton of respect for DLH if he refuses this fight.
Newsflash: Multi Millionaire means someone who is worth several million dollars. Floyd is over 60 million at the moment
Then he shouldn't be stiffing his jewelers...
I am a big Mayweather fan....but how can you lose respect for DLH when he has made a career out of fighting the best...
he is semi retired and while I want to see the fight as bad as anyone else...DLH doesn't need Floyd..AS MUCH as Floyd needs him....
I say "AS MUCH" because DLH has still lost to the three best fighters he has fought in Bernard Hopkins, Mosley x2 and Trinidad...so those high profile fights will always hang over his head..
I dont care if he fights Oscar what im worried about is mayweahter Retireing, I think thats bullshit he hasnt even fought anybody thats a challenge to him everybody knew he was going to beat baldomir, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME MAYWEAHTER WAS THE UNDERDOG?
FLoyd-DLH is one of the biggest matchups. not just of this generation, but in the history of the sport.
it would certainly generate some record #'s in terms of PPV buys, and money earned.
I dont know how either fighter could pass up the oppurtunity to be a part of such an enourmous part of boxing, AND SPORTS, history.
The reason Oscar doesn't fight much any more is because he doesn't have to win. Earlier in his career when people were giving him the same kind of crap people give Floyd, he fought big fights and won (with the exception of some). As for the rusty statement, Mayorga thought he'd be rusty, too. Oscar will probably fight again, but whoever it was that said he'll make more promoting than boxing was spot-on. He's a great boxer who has done what a lot of boxers didn't - set up a profitable career that allows him to retire before he gets seriously injured or forced into fighting passed his prime. He's a prime example of a boxer you should respect, Floyd or no Floyd.
(So I'm a DLH fan....whatever. :B)
See what u did, DLH is now crying cuz u don't respecthim.
This fight will not happen. 1 reason: MONEY.
ur not copyin what steward said are u? lol
thats the most rediculous thing i have ever heard.
if both fighters honestly cant figure out a fair way to split 40 MILLION DOLLARS, that would be hilarious! idk what many was talkin about...
LMAO at these fool saying he will lose respect for OSCAR! oscar dont need to fight floyd he doesnt.....how can you say you lose respect for him when you probally never even had any respect for him most floyd fans are like that...
and who said floyd is a multimillionare? ya he has millions but he aint worth as much as oscar....oscar is worth around 500 million bucks.

I would not, DLH does not need Floyd, Floyd needs DLH.
Very simple.
well obviously, i think we all knew this a long time ago, but DLH definetly needs to give the oppurtunity. AFter all hes said and done, its far to late to back out now
I would not, DLH does not need Floyd, Floyd needs DLH.

This has never been more true... after last nights showing he will have lost the interest of the general public. I feel that now DLH has the upper hand in this negotiation dance they're having.
There will be a time when Mayweather fades as quickly and as dramatically as Roy Jones Jr. A guy who has fought at 160 lbs. and is in the twilight of his career doesn't have to fight some hype machine who's naturally much smaller to cement a legacy. And he doesn't need the money either. He'll make much more as a promoter than he ever made boxing...
