How much longer do you think Roy Jones is going to fight? Do you think he can still beat the best in the division? And how far past his prime do you think he is?

Jones would be dwarfed by Tyson. He wouldn't appear that big.
In 1984, while Tyson had been a super-heavyweight for years, Jones was a BANTUMWEIGHT.
He's a fighter and they all have the same disease...staying to long, even fans suffer from it sometimes. You know your guy is done and then he fights what seems like a one shot deal to leave with a win and he wins so before you know it the fighter and his fans what him to make another run at it. I do it all the time with the guys I have really come to love as fighters over the years. It's sad but a part of the sport, impulse makes a good fighter and it also makes the good fighter fight way to long. Jones is a guy that I still love to watch...He won his last fight why not move on. Honestly, I would like to see him avenge his losses and maybe fight a rematch with B-Hop or some crazy ass showdown with FMJ or DLH...That's just me.
i think he really should've retired by now. the general competition has caught up with him and people are no longer syked out by his "aura".
btw, how can you tell when his prime was? i mean, he didn't really have many high caliber opponents. that fact alone makes it hard to discern his skills and when they were at their peak. even his own network made fun of the opponents he chose to fought.
I think Roy will have one more big fight soon. Probably after his next fight, if he wins.
i tend to agree.
Until he comes in fully prepared and fully focused for a fight and is soundly defeated in every aspect.
hasn't that happened? i could've swore that glen johnson was outboxing him and then ko'd his ass.
Roy is just a shadow of his former glory, I am a big fan of his but I want him to retire before he gets really hurt. Is he still capable of being brilliant for a single night, yes. Is he capable of dominating a division, hell no.
i'm sure he's holding out for a title and if he gets that then he'll retire. i personally don't think that he will win another title, no one fears him anymore, the mystique is gone, people know how to fight him and pressure him after the Johnson fight, anyone with the skills to at least do what Johnson did.
if he is trying to get a fight with Woods, i think Woods would stop him honestly, mainly due to the fact that he knows jones is fragile and has a shakey chin. he woods won't be afraid to engage, he has a better mental aspect to fighting jones now, especially after already fighting him.
jones ought to reitire with the win he has and be done before he gets starched again and really tarnishes his legacy. it's not the losses it's the way of the losses that will ruin all he's built.
i feel really sorry for roy, i was a big fan of his in his prime - the mid / late 90's. i remember watching roy's fights and thinking, wow, this is one of the most talented fighters i've seen in my lifetime - i'm talking pure natural talent, not what he chose to do with it. when u watch prime roy or james toney, u know u're seeing an all time great. the roy of today is just a good fighter, but not that roy from before. anyway, the reason i feel sorry for him is becuz he started believing he was superman, and now he's not anymore, and he can't let it go.

How much longer do you think Roy Jones is going to fight?
more than i hope he does
Do you think he can still beat the best in the division?
no
And how far past his prime do you think he is?
almost 10 years
How much longer do you think Roy Jones is going to fight? Do you think he can still beat the best in the division? And how far past his prime do you think he is?
How Long? Too Long, that's already apparent.
How far past his prime? Well, you'd have to go back to the Reggie Johnson fight or sooner to find his "prime", actually, probably the second Griffith fight would be Roy's peak.
