I'm not talking about just beating Wlad (Because he has a chance), but can he straighten out the heavyweight division for once? I have to say that of all the heavyweights right now, Calvin does have the least question marks.
This could be the biggest heavyweight fight, with the most meaning, since Lewis and Vitali. I do know that if Calvin wins, I still want to see him take a few of Wlads best shots just to see how he handles it, because Wlad is probably the hardest puncher in the game right now.
Let’s just say Calvin gets past Wlad then where would that put him? Valuev is a very slow fighter and he can be hurt, as we have seen. Does Calvin have the power to do it? It's a good possibility.
Even then does Calvin have the chin and/or the stamina to wear Maskaev down? I would think he has a good shot at doing so, since Maskaev has had many troubles against American fighters, in the past.
I would have to think that he has the best chance of any heavyweight out there right now and if he can get past Wlad then this is going to get pretty interesting.
Maybe we can finally get some answers soon. Or if Wlad wins then we could just get more questions.
I guess all this leads to one big question, “Why take on Wlad now?” Why not go after Maskaev or Valuev, instead, and work up to Wlad? It would make it a much bigger payday for both of them if they together eliminated Maskaev and Valuev, then fought each other. Plus it would unify the entire division.
Oh well, I am just a fan, so I guess I don’t know anything.
Then you must have never watched his fight with Jameel McCline, where he was dropped by a perfect shot by Jameel, beat the count and went to war with McCline. He was beating the larger McCline all over the ring and was close to putting him down in the final seconds of the same round. The round was scored 9-9 because Brock actually won it even with an early knockdown.
Is that the same McCline who Wlad mopped the floor with?
the punch he put brock down was nothing more than an average shot
brock was leaning and off balance and got caught, he got up cause the punch wasnt even hard to enough to really hurt him, it just woke him up and without the KD he probably would have fought a pussy ass fight all the way through.
That's the way I remember it too.
McCline was never a hard puncher. Maybe with his bulk he is an average puncher but P4P he hits about as hard as Chris Byrd. McCline is a nice guy from what I've heard but he is not championship material and will never be more than a solid B- gatekeeper.

...Excellent post that sums up how I feel about Calvin Brock. Anyone seen the odds on this fight BTW?
the best odds for wladamir on the web are 4-1 favorite.
i bet 1000 bucks on him to win 250, and thats the best you can do
if you bet 1000 on brock you can win upwards of 4000 depending on your bookie
best odds for wladamir are on pinnacle sportbook
brock doesent stand a chance, put your money on wladamir and let it earn some interest. brock is not as good as chris byrd, nor is he as tough as byrd where he can survive after hes been down.
I believe Brock has a great chance of tearing up the HW division...He hs all the tools to do so. I hope he steps it up from his last performance. He really looked slugglish..He will beat Wald very convincingly...I then hope he looks to uni the belts..
....PUT THE CRACK PIPE DOWN!!!!
Brock, I don't think has the umph deep down. He's a smart fighter; but not spectacular. He's got power; but no real killer instinct. He's the "Boxing Banker". You ever seen a hungry banker?
I think Wlad should stop him within 5 or so; and Liakhovish would beat him too, probably by a later round stoppage. But, Brock could outbox both Maskaev and Valuev; but he wouldnt' stop either I don't think.
So, the answer to the thread is......no.

Pump who are you really Michael Grant?
I fuck harder then Big Time punches and trust me on this I fuck soft!
McCline needs some sparring partners. Why not apply?
McCline is a very hard puncher. He just never fights like a big puncher and I have no idea why. I don't think Brock will beat Klitschko, but he has the heart to get off the mat and fight to get himself out of trouble.

calvin brock is very very average. he has no outstanding qualities about him and the only reason hes getting so much attention is because hes american in a european dominated division and hes undefeated.
im not saying brock sux. its just that hes just another fighter, hes nothing special.

I was taught that boxing was about hitting and not getting hit. Apparently you keyboard warriors think boxing is about walking through punches. Try it down in the gym some day, then you will understand why responsible trainers concentrate on defense.
To win all Brock has to do is exploit Klitshcho's weaknesses. Standing in front of Klitschko and blocking punches with his head is NOT the correct strategy for Brock. It may have worked for Brewster but it didn't work for Byrd. One new skill Brock should have been practising is the uppercut and learning to time it for the clinch that Klitschko is most certainly going to employ. Will we see it? It all depends on how badly Brock wants to win.
Missing the enitre point here son as Mr. Achilles sort of pointed out.
If you are involved in the HW division or almost any division for that matter you are going to have to prove at some point in your career that you have a beard, you have whiskers....your chin can take a good shot or two without it disconnecting your ass.
This is all we are saying, dont fail to miss this point again.

No one is saying it'd be a good idea for Brock to take punches from Wladimir. What they are saying is that they'd prefer to see Brock absorb some punches, in the event that he does win, so we know if his chin is for real or not for future fights.
Listen up Pump...
Dont get excited that the Boxing Banker was able to get up and fight back when being smacked by Big Time McCline...Big Time is no benchmark that determines strength of chin, the benchmark comes against Wlad Klitchko...if he gets knocked down, gets up and punishes the Ukranian then we can have a party.
Damn Pump sometimes yu get way to excited!

Saying you can take a punch from McCline and get back up is like saying if you got a blowjob from Monica Belluchi, you'd enjoy it. It's not unique nor impressive, it's just the natural order of things.
