this guy blows up to like 185 and he's like 5'5' after fights.i give him another fight or 2 @ 140 before he cant make the weight anymore..who agrres that he will be forced to move up to 147 in which he will lose if he faces a live welterweight
How many Hatton threads you gonna make, Dino? I don't even like the pasty paler but the amount of ill-inform bile that gets spread about him on here makes my hair curl sometimes.
I love the way people talk about Hatton fighting "nobodies", but then acknowledge that he never had the chance to fight anyone else. The guy was kept out of the loop for years due to lack of US funding, and since he got it he's had three back-to-back world title fights, against admittedly variable opposition.
The weight issue isn't an issue, it was clearly stated that HBO wanted him to move up, against the wishes of his trainer.
Lastly, all the talk about "we know what he's like at 147". No, we don't. We might do, but isn't it a little early to judge on ONE fight, and against a southpaw that he clearly had difficulty with? Let's not make rash judgements after just ONE fight.
Slow Clap.
Stepping up a weight class, on a few weeks notice to face a tricky southpaw who is also the belt holder was always gonna give Hatton problems, but he got through it and now he can spend a year bullying the new boys at 140 (JLC & Corrales)..shutting the mouth of a few belt holding no-talents (Witter & Cotto) and then finally take a shot at the big prize (PBF).
I wasn't being serious about Cotto, he has lots of talent and is a pleasure to watch, but Witter..I respect his boxing skills as much as I respect Dino's skills for putting together a coherent argument.
Hatton vs. Mayweather will never happen because by the end of next year, Hatton will no longer be undefeated. Of course, this is only if he fights the top welters. His " 0 " is the ONLY thing exciting about him, and once that goes, Mayweather and the boxing public won't be interested anymore.
mayweather will lose before hatton. i will bet anything on that.
In my mind there is only one fighter that comes to mind that would be more beneficial for Mr. Hatton to fight at 147 as opposed to his more comfortable weight of 140...
Who is this fighter you ask?
Floyd Mayweather.
If Hatton is going to fight one guy at 147 it should be Floyd, Floyd is the one fighter that dows not hold an advantage over Ricky at that weight.
Floyd is tiny and is a step quicker at 140 then 147. Of all the guys that are potential opponents for Ricky down the line I say be smart and fight them at the weight you have been most productive at which is clearly 140...except for 1 guy and that one guy is Pretty Boy Floyd, fight that fucker at 147 it may be the advantage you need to win!
Cotto does not hold, as a matter of fact he seemed lost when Paulie started holding on the inside, he looked as if he never expected it and didn't know what to do. Hatton and Cotto at 147 should be a helluva fight.
i agree with texican..hatton will lose soon or later..he's fought nobody his whole career..now he's a known guy and will h ave to fight stiffer competition..castillo harris witter...somebody will beat him

I would like to see Hatton vs Wlad:
I heard someone say Kostya lost to Hatton, not because he was old and inactive (from injuries), but because "Styles make Fights"...Wlad has a similar style to Kostya, so I would like to see if this is true
show me some facts..i heard he had trouble making weight..thats why he moved to 147 in the first place
Hatton has NEVER had to return to the scale a second time...he's always made weight first time around....
With Castillo, Corrales and Cotto all at 140 he's still got plenty of live Jr Welters to face...lets hope the fights get made

Nah, I think he'll stay at 140 fr a while and unify titles against Harris, Castillo and those guys
No I think he's going to milk 140 as long as he can. It's a wasteland right now & there are 2 good fights for him there those are JLC & Witter. After Hatton fought life & death with Collazo he knew he needed to drop back down.
show me some facts..i heard he had trouble making weight..thats why he moved to 147 in the first place
so if he cant make 140 why did he agrea to fight lazcano at 140 nd then with 7 weeks to go lazcano gets injured and the only suitable option for hbo is collazo at 147
making wieght had fuck all to do with it
show me some facts..i heard he had trouble making weight..thats why he moved to 147 in the first place
nah he moved up to grab an easy title from a supposed pushover ........it didnt turn out that way but that was the plan....
i think he will stay at 140 for as long as he can now
Hatton is going to have problems at Welterweight. Collazo showed us that.
So true Hatton could've been KO'ed in the 12th If Collazo were able to take advantage of rocking him.
if he does move up to welterweight again, which is only a matter of time, but when he does Hatton might want to look into getting back with Warren. it seems that Warren has a tremendous skill at hand picking opponents for his fighters. it's like he finds guys that are either on their way out of the game or guys that aren't ready for that level of fighting, hence the great record.
i know there are some good opponents Hatton's fought, but the bulk of his record is fattened up by guys that he could beat anyday of the week.
i'm not hating, just stating...................fact.
i like Hatton and i hope he does well but it's going to be tough for him fighting at any weight over 140lb. he'll be competitive to the fullest but he isnt going to have the power that he had at 140................
Hatton makes 140 EASILY. He's near fighting weight within a few weeks of camp..
