boxing has clearly gotten more popular. idk how u can call a sport DYING when it seems to coming back to life right?
i was reading an article on this website called IGN.com, which i usually go on to see movie ratings and stuff, but they have everything on that website.
and im reading the sales on this one videogame called "FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 3"
which is a professional boxing game. and its has ENOURMOUS sales. They are selling as many copies of this videogame as some of the best selling video games right now.
Then u got Boxing playing on a new channel every six months almost.lol. Espn, Oln, Msg, 72 (w/e channel that is), espn classic, hbo, showtime, FOX, and all sorts of PPV channels.
U also got a new member comin on this website every couple of days. If thats not a sign idk what is.
Plus, last season of FNF and WNF was moved from 10 to 9 est. which is a prime-time slot. Wednesday is THE most popular night for television (southpark, lost...)... IF boxing has a primetime slot on the most popular night for television... u get my drift
U know what im sayin? i think its a small comeback, and think it could continue at the rate.
like ive said a billion times before on this site. i have a ton of friends who thought boxing was the most retarted thing ever. They liked the idea of a knocout but boxing was boring and uneventful.
Then i expose them to the sport and after a few short months and a viewing of corrales-castillo 1, they become hardcore fans of the sport.
ill stand by it till i die, the reason why boxing is dying is because it has terrible exposure. If people would start concentrating on the future of the sport instead of making money in the present, this comeback would be goin a lot fast.
Video games are for children or pathetic pimpled faced poindexters with no social life:nonono:
doenst matter. they are still fans and they can still pay and support the sport.
and when ur kids nowadays, ur almost supposed to play video games. lol. its only "pathetic" when ur out of college with no job and u play vid games all day. THATS pathetic. funny image in my head right now... lol
And when is this all going to happen? He's been a champion, and a top fighter for years without having that cross over appeal. What is going to change that all of a sudden?
him beating De La Hoya and Mosley is what will do it.
Exactly the promotional woes and politics that I' talking about. People need to see real fights, not a named fighter against HYPED opponents.
Title holders needs to fight each other and unify.
Yep i agree
I'd say boxing has taken a step forward from a few years ago when it was John Ruiz, Chris Byrd, Roy Jones vs postal workers, Hopkins vs Eastman type things headlining things. OLN's new boxing is a great show so far.
Still have 4 different heavyweight champions and alot of other negatives but still a better situation than a few years ago.
I love boxing, the only bad thing is,major fighters nawadays dont fight eachover, back in the days you'd get people like Leonard,Hearns,Hagler and Duran, who used 2 fight eachover for pride, now its more business, but were slowly getting back to getting the mega fights i.e Winky vs Taylor,Pac vs Morales,Floyd vs Baldi,Hatton vs Castillo ( if it comes off ) we're getting more fights like this,i dont think boxings dying at all

Fights against DLH and Mosley.
It really is. It's terrible. But it's from EA what do you expect?
There are only a handful of playable characters (only ones casual boxing fans would know and somewhat know i.e. ODLH, Hopkins, RRJ). You can only fight in like 2 arenas before you unlock a few more. The announcer SUCKS (extremely repetitive, annoying, no color commentary). The camera angles are so-so. The animations are robotic, and EVERY boxer moves EXACTLY the same way (there is no excuse for that in video games this day in age, but hey it's EA). The training and career modes put me to sleep. Just plain awful. The advice your corner gives you between rounds gets repeated like a billion times, and it's not even that good.
I can't wait 'til somebody steps up and makes a GREAT boxing game with over 100 playable characters (not just the "stars"), able to fight in venues all over the world, an awesome career mode with real-like boxing drama, much better commentary and trainer's advice, better training, weigh-ins, customizable entrances...etc.
Count me in on this ONE.. FIGHTNIGHT IS CRAP.. all the reason you mention PLUS.. you never can knock a guy out ONE with punch.. Regardless of style you have to wear him down.. EVEN the flash KO punch still requires you to hit him a few more times.. And when A guy is falling AND you land 2 more uppercuts fight should be over.. BUT they said they made the game have an arcade feel on purpose.. They said they dont think anyone would WANT to play a true BOXING simulation.. BUT they didn't ask ME...
Pretty Boy Floyd is and will be the reason boxing gets big again.
Undefeated, cocky, confident, flashy, smart. He has it all and will attract the casual fan to come back for more.

I don't like those networks. Only taking boxing back as a reality show. I hope they don't show it. They would screw it up and Hollywood everything.
Yeah but the contender brought alot of new fans to the sport. Which is good and could make them follow the sport more closely.
Boxing really won't be what it used to be until they start showing it on the major networks (ABC, NBC, Fox, etc.)
its no where near that state now, i agree. but a small comeback seems to happening. and when and if it does get back to that state. i could see that happening.
holyfield fights are on FNS which is a big step
