From a tabloid:
"It's been 10, 15 years and he still hasn't fought anybody with a pulse. Guys like Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Nigel Benn fought everybody in sight, but then you get guys like Joe who fight once or twice a year against nobodies and disgrace the great sport, never fight in the States and so on."
"I fought far better opposition than Joe and my time ended right at the start of my career, he's right at the end of his career and hasn't fought anybody to compare with Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Mike McCallum - the Body Snatcher, Dangerous Don Lee, Errol Christie and all. I fought the best European's and the best American's and my career had hardly begun, Joe hasn't fought anybody at all and he's at the end of the road.
"He gives boxing a bad, bad name."

I am not sure what you guys are saying, but Joe did fight Eubank! was'nt he the first to knock down Eubank? Are you forgetting he actually fought him 9 years ago?
Did he also not beat Collins? Again I say boxing does not start and end with the US, who have they got in the heavyweight ranks now?
Their selection is pitiful, and there still is not an opening pic at the top of
this site of Lennox! He gave Mike the pasting of a lifetime, so sweet to see Lennox tuck him up in bed and then put the lights out, it was clinical and almost cruel in the operation. Did Lewis look scared, before or during?
History says that Tyson's management paid $7 million in a get out clause to avoid Lewis, and who could blame them? Its sheer rubbish to suggest Lennox
avoided anyone in boxing, he was too arrogant for that!
Michael Watson was a great fighter, in the Benn and Eubank class, and perhaps in the Uk we do not have this quality around anymore.
Who knows what Joe, a lot younger than the others would have done?
He has a peculiar style they all would have struggled with, with this flapping style which puts them on the defence and then he punches properly.
Perhaps we should ask Mr Lacy just how good Joe was, he "might" know?
He called him a slapper too, boy how he must regret those words.
prime tyson ko lewis early! :D
Hasn't fought anyone to compare to Eubank?
You can't blame him for being bitter though.

Yeah but Watson was a Yank nuthugger, jerking off over Ali and Duran when he was 14, and working as Kirkland Laing's waterboy in Detroit.

Watson is a very bitter, jealous man.
Nobody knew who he was before the Benn fight, and certainly it was nobody tuning in to watch Michael Watson fight Eubank - it was everybody tuning in to watch Eubank fight an opponent.
