For those of you who have not seen the most bizarre break in action in boxing, finally here is the Round that everyone has been talking about.
Abraham, the Doctor and the ref want the fight stopped, but the German Promoter, Wilfred Sauerland, overrules everyone and makes the fight continue...

For me the next time Abraham won come out safe.
with just a broken jaw sometime you whole career would end he could havea W here but could end up in an early retirment.
those promoter didnt care about Abraham health they should have stopped the fight because the most important is the safety of the fighters and not win or loss.
damn and these nuthuggers thought i was crazy when i told them no american media thought abraham won.... dumb shit...
What exactly makes the opinions of American writers more valid than the rest??

I hope miranda vs abraham rematch will be on hbo or showtime and i hope this fight will take place in the states.
No doubt... but after the poor decision to continue the fight Miranda was not automatically precluded from winning. He simply didn't win. Hence I would call this a bad decision not a robbery. I guess I'm just splitting hairs and am a little disappointed that Miranda couldn't finish him off.
I am also disappointed Miranda didn't finish him off. But it was not the easiest task having the ref against you and giving Abraham time to rest and hold.
If anything I wanted Miranda to win, but boxing sometimes throws fighters a curveball... I was expecting more from Miranda. On the other hand, the ref's flagrant misdiagnosis of fouls probably distracted him.

I respect your opinions. Atleast you make sense unlike the abraham nuthuggers. Hell i'm not even a miranda fan.

I totally feel your point...the fight should have been stopped in the 5th round. BUT I wouldn't call it a robbery...the point deductions may have been but not the decision. A Robbery (to me) means that somebody took the fight away from a fighter that would have/should have won. Here the ref/doctor simply let the fight continue. From there, Abraham (arguably) won the fight and Miranda didn't win the fight. I personally don't agree with the decision but I don't have as much sympathy for Miranda than I do for Meldrick Taylor who was ACTUALLY prevented from being able to win. The good thing is that with all of the controversy there will be a rematch to sort this out.
It was a robbery. If you watch the fight in the 5th round, you could clearly see that when the ref ask abraham if he can continue, abraham clearly shake his head no.
It proves that mostly everyone except way biased abraham fans that miranda was screwed and should have been the winner by a tko in the 5th round.

Here's more backup to my robbery claim....

Next time you say wacky shit like that try to back it up with solid proof. If you can't then dont throw BS out there.
That's the pot calling the kettle black!
Exactly isn't that happening right now with Peter-Toney? Surely there are those who THINK Toney won the fight (myself included) but the FACT is that he lost and now there will be a rematch
The ibf did put miranda back as the mandatory challenger. Why did they do that? hmmmmmmm.
Because their was controversy... it's the same as a sanctioning body demanding an immediate rematch after a fight... it happens. This is hardly a first or a milestone.

Well the bad news that i can't find the article that state by the ibf saying miranda should have won by a tko of the 5th round. I however did found the article from warriorsboxing.com about miranda as still the number 1 contender to the ibf title.

Keeping him the #1 challenger counts as a win? Well fuck me running... we don't need title fights anymore folks since the #1 conteder can automatically claim the W.
Yes initially he did, but I am not aware of any rule in boxing that says a guy can't change his mind (as long as the fight still hasn't been officially ended). Even discounting this... the fact is that the fight DID go on... and Abraham won on the scorecards. If you want to disagree with the scoring I understand but don't get caught up in a stoppage that didn't happen. We could talk about countless fights with long counts, bad stoppages etc.

IBF DECIDES THAT ‘PANTERA’ WILL KEEP MANDATORY CONTENDER’S SPOT
HOLLYWOOD, FL, October 4 – After a highly controversial 12 round decision defeat that rocked the boxing world and caused the media and fight fans to speak out in droves against the injustices done to ‘Uncrowned Middleweight Champion’ Edison Miranda, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) decided on September 29 that Miranda will retain his number one spot in the sanctioning body’s rankings, thus keeping him as the mandatory challenger to champion Arthur Abraham, who was awarded a controversial decision over ‘Pantera’ on September 23rd in his hometown of Wetzlar, Germany in a bout that should have been ruled a fifth round TKO in the Colombian’s favor.
“I’m pleased that the IBF has decided to keep Edison Miranda as the mandatory contender, and their decision makes it clear that they will not tolerate any injustice when it comes to their championship matches,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing, Miranda’s promoter. “Edison Miranda won that fight and every objective observer and mainstream boxing journalist who has seen the fight agrees. We believe Miranda is the uncrowned champion and the result of September 23rd’s fight should be changed to a TKO5 for ‘Pantera.’”
“I thank the IBF for keeping me as the number one contender and I plan on rewarding their good faith by becoming their champion the next time I fight Arthur Abraham, if he is able to fight again,” said Miranda. “I have a lot of respect for Abraham as a warrior, but I promise that I will knock him out the next time we fight. I will not let the judges or referee take the fight from me again.”
In the Abraham-Miranda bout, Miranda broke the jaw of the champion in the fourth round and everyone agreed – including Abraham – that the fight should have been stopped in the subsequent round. That is, everyone except members of the champion’s team, who put Abraham’s career in danger with their callous deeds and actions. When asked after the fight why he allowed the fight to continue, Dr. Walter Wagner told German television, “We were in danger to lose the fight, so Arthur had to continue.” This is very strange since Dr. Wagner was clearly seen advising Referee Randy Neumann in the fifth round that Abraham could not continue.
Said Margules, “Arthur Abraham was asked by referee Randy Neumann in the fifth round if he wanted to continue and he said ‘no’, and rightfully so. He had suffered a severe injury and it was better for him to come back for another chance at the title than to risk his life and career. But his team put winning over this young man’s safety, and it disgusts me that professionals in our business behaved in this manner.”
Seminole Warriors Boxing has big plans for their Champion, Edison Miranda and those plans which may or may not include a rematch with Abraham will be announced in the near future.

Only boxing offers unique situations like this. I got to give Abraham his credit because he cannot control what the doctor, ref, cornermen do... he can only control his actions. He chose to fight on and risk injury and he won the fight. If people want to claim that the ref helped Abraham with the deductions that is fine, but the non-stoppage shouldn't be an issue. It kind of reminds me of the fiasco at the Judah-Mayweather fight. Sure the ref could have DQ'd Floyd b/c his trainer was in the ring, but they didn't and Mayweather won the fight. Not as much controversy as people are making this out to be.
He didn't choose the fight to go on. He clearly shake his head no after the ref told him if he can continue.
