I don't follow the very low weight classes too much but I was watching this guy Darchinyan and I think he's pretty good. I seen his fight with Maldonado and the one from last night against Donaire.
I notice he mostly stands kind of flat footed but is strong.
Are there any fighters around his weight, besides the one everyone says Arce that can really give him trouble?
I think he could have some trouble with someone who won't stand right in front of him and who moves very well.
villoria has no heart IMO
I think he lost it, the moment he hospitalised and and almost killed Contreras. He got lucky against the champ with his 1punch ko but its pretty clear in the agguire and nino fight that he dont have the same killer instict he had as an amateur and in his pre-contreras fights.
There was Villoria and there's Donaire.
But there also was Randy Suico against Juan Diaz; Suico had nothing but heart.
Then, there was Bautista who picked himself up from a KD to win.
There have been so many Filipinos who displayed courage in and outside the ring.
It's not a matter of nationality. Not even race (principally, Malay, in the case of Filipinos as they share the same race as Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries in the South East Asian region).
In 1983, Filipino civilians faced and stopped battle tanks in their tracks in what history now labels as "The People Power Revolution" in the Philippines. They had nothing but flowers, Rosaries and prayers.
It's silly to portray what Donaire and Villoria did as exemplifying any kind of Filipino trait. The Philippine's pantheon of heroes attest to courage. A Filipino chieftain named Lapulapu killed the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the first recorded resistance to foreigners in the year 1521. The Filipinos met the westerners' cannons and muskets with spears and the local version of broadswords, called "kampilans".
Many others followed in Lapulapu's footsteps for some 4 hundred years. Many Filipinos faced all comers: Spaniards, British, Dutch, Americans, Japanese...
The "Moro Rebellion" in the southern island of Mindanao was so fierce, the .45 caliber pistol had to be called in to service in the US Forces deployed to the Philippines--the first time that the pistol saw combat.
The Philippines is site to a long history of bravery under the most adverse circumstances.
Edit: What Donaire did was an exception, not the rule. As for Villoria, who really knows other than he, what he was thinking?
i dont think anyone in darchinyan's weight division or lighter can trouble him at all. he has great heart, ditermination along with great speed and strength. he is a champion fighter and might only have trouble if he steps up a division which i odnt think will happen
That shouldnt be an excuse of not having any heart, theres people that live middle class and still fight their heart out, regardless what country they are from.. They just dont care about their people/country and just fight for the money, they should fight for pride of their country.. And the only one really doing it is Pacquiao.. others are fucking homo's no matter how much you like them, its true, Viloria is a fucking pussy, he should've won againts Nino if he tried harder but he gave up, he simply got exposed..
If they keep coming out like that then you can forget about the "next Pacquiao" this generation..
one of the few times ill say this, but I agree.
Even Villoria's corner admitted that he showed no heart against Nino. They say he doesnt have that fire in him that a World Champ must have, that hunger.
Viloria was overlooking that fight and thinking $$$ that would come after that fight. It was a shame and a missed opportunity. I was at that fight ringside, sitting right next to Viloria's mom, just didnt know what to say man, it was sad.
both of you guys are right.
and its the first time I heard you appreciate Pac Xcaret.
its true many Filipino boxers wanted to become like Pacquiao, but they dont have the heart like Pac.
Pac is one hell of a rare breed of boxer coming from the Philippines, he is the only Filipino boxer who had given hope to his country.

because those two don't. if you'd notice both of them grew up in the states. im not saying filipino fighters dont have heart but you'd expect a bigger heart for filipino fighters from the PI because the come from much worse conditions and have fought adversity all their life.
Gabi didnt grow up in the states bro, that much I know.
He has a wife and kid back home that he hasnt gone back to see for like a year now.
Reports were that his father watches them, he catches fish regularly so they can eat and survive.
We all know heart is a big factor, and I can tell you Gabbi had alottt more than Donaire did last nite, but still, natural power and talent is somethin the heart cant quite deliver, and the better man has simply won.
Cant question Gabbi's heart.
Neither does Donaire, whats going on here?? why no heart for your people??

Diosdabo Gabi another phillipino got his jaw broken too by the same guy... :tapedshut
but gabi was keeping vic at bay for the first 7 rounds until vic got in with his signature punch. and game over.
thats why i like him...........he's no ali and he knows it!!..
but, he does want one thing that others won't!!....wants to fight others!!..Agree on all points, Mooch.
I don't get it, you don't follow the lower weight classes much though you have Ivan Calderon in your avatar? This is not a hate post either. Just curious why you do if you don't follow them. Eitherway, to answer your question. I'd say yeah Arce is the best shot. Ivan is slick, he could do it also. It's all about the weight classes now. These guys are jumping around and Vic says he'd even fight Rafael Marquez, he doesn't care. I see Vic moving up soon, at least to chase Arce down. We'll see what happens.
I don't follow them as a whole very much, I've seen Calderon fight before and I like him. I change my avatar all the time.

i agree, vic is pretty good. a bit too cocky, but he gives his opponents some credit at least.
do you usually equate standing flat-footed as being a weaker stance than up on the balls of the feet? if so, you are very mistaken.
anyways, i'd say he is fairly beatable, but who and how are the real questions. he does bring some great attention and interest to his weight class. i will certainly enjoy following his career.
Viloria is an overhyped balloonhead who's got popped by Omar Nino.
no, Viloria just got lucky on his being a Champion, he doesn't stand a chance against the likes of Darchinyan or Arce.
Arce is the biggest threat for Darchinyan, I hope this fight happens.:purity:
Wow...until you guys mentioned Brian Viloria, I've completely forgot about that cat. He like disappeared or something. Not 1 news post on him or what he's been up to. Completely forgot about him though now that we mention him, yeah he'd be KOed by Vic also, forget him.
