Am I the only one thinking that people are going a little nutty lately with the Paul Williams love?I mean his only notable opponent was a shot Sharmba Mitchell.I admit he looked great in beating the bag out of him.But just because Sharmba wasn't able to get inside on him, doesn't mean guys like Mayweather,Mosley,ETC won't be able to either.BTW,no disrespect to Williams fans or anything!I can see your point! The man's physical attributes could mean greatness from him down the line.I just think we should wait to see him in the ring with someone fresher than Mitchell before we go too overboard.
Maragrito is not considered an elite fighter. this is not the same as him calling out Floyd. Floyd is considered the best fighter in the world, Margarito was not his mandatory. Williams deserves his mandatory shot at the title, it was earned in the ring. Williams and margarito are in the same boat, they both are about as equally known so to say that Williams is step below Margarito is absurd. Margo is just showing his true colors, how can u criticize many fighters for the exact same thing you are doing right now. i think williams did get the best of him because he hasn't disputed it and doesn't want to fight him. He rather fight Clottey instead of his mandatory and he said he might not never fight Williams (i Beleive) in his video. what is up with that? If he really wanted big fights, don't u think he would get his mandatory out of the way to clear way for the bigger fights.
Well there you go, your key word is "consider".
If some fools in here can consider a fighter with 5-0;6-0 records as a future superstar how can anyone can't consider Williams who's got 31 wins and zero loss record the next superstar?
Williams should prove to us and to himself if he's for real so by all means let him get the big fights he is asking for. By then we can judge the guy is he's gonna be a superstar or not.
I agree! That was my point!Let's see how he does against better compeition before we judge him one way or another.Im not saying that he doesn't have a hell of a lot of potential.Im just unsure until I see him in there with someone a little fresher than Sharmba Mitchell or Marteze Logan. As for the pro record thing, thirty one wins and zero losses is impressive no doubt. But lets not forget that up until a few months ago this man was one of the most protected prospects in boxing. He really didn't step up at all until his 30th pro fight. That's even a little much for todays standards.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but just as Floyd saif that Marg hadn't fought anyone, the same goes for Williams. I don't think him beating old Sharmba Mitchell quite makes him legit. Like I said I hear they were asking for too much money. Iam not defending Marg because I don't think by him not taking this fight hurt him more than it helped his caes. I'm just saying like someone said earlier, I think people are starting to jump on the Williams band wagon a little too ealry. I mean he looks good and seems to have all the makings of a really good fighter, but I want to see him do it against better competition. I will give it to him and say thats what he was trying to do against Marg but at the same time he can't expect to make really big money quite yet based on the fact that he hasn't really proved much yet.
Jai, goosen made it clear that he and arum hasn't talk yet and putting margarito to face williams so the williams over pricing himself is bs. If margarito did knock williams, then why magarito never mention in his own mouth that he did knock williams down? and why is williams keep calling him out if williams was indeed knockout in sparring? that don't make sense. The only sense is that margarito is afraid to fight his mandatory challenger.
I'll make it short buddy, people should stop mentioning the lame excuse of questioning who a fighter has fought for him to fight the big names.
The guy is still undefeated and he wanted to step up and prove himself, so by all means if you are a true boxing fan and not just a plain nut hugger like most people here are, you should be giving this fighter props instead of creating and putting doubt on his fighting skills.
I'll make it even shorter buddy,I was just saying that why don't we see how he does against better comp before we consider him the next superstar.I didn't mean to create or put doubt on his skills. It was just an opinion! We can't all be high on every boxer.

And there you have it. A fighter is willing to step up in class, he isnt demanding outrageous amounts of money. He stays ready to fight and is still looking for a fight by the end of the year and willing to travel to any location to make it happen. The very thing many complain about our sport is fighters picking opponents, Paul Williams isnt doint that.

So far so good. Nice work of bringing him up, still have some minor details to work on, maybe a little help in his corner? Like to see his people continue to step him up the right way. He's not ready for Margarito yet, still needs 2 or 3 more fights against top contenders, unless there are weight issues and they're trying to rush him.
I love how fans talk about the Margarito-Williams sparring session like they was there or something. You dont know what happened so dont say nothing. Stop running your mouths.
You gotta understand Williams could defintly be the future and people are goin to cling on him now rather then later when he does stepin with that top COMP and may not far as well, i personally am a fan and have clinged on and am hopeing for the best! PBF v The Punisher late 07 or early 08
Id love to see Williams beat Flloyds ass thats for sure.

they'll fight
I think they will fight each other and should. If they both win there will probably be talks of a fight. I haven't seen Williams much, but man he whooped Mithcell's ass.
margarito is scared of williams. he keeps bragging about how pbf duck him but in the same time when a high risk fighter is his mandatory, he made a bitch turn.

Williams has huge potential, big guy, good chin, good power etc
he looks real good but he needs to step it up, which he would have if Tony wasnt having them nightmares from their sparring sessions still
i think floyd,mosley beat him no-one else at 147
If I heard correctly after Williams threw a good body shot on Marg, Marg floored him. I'm not talking a slip or a push, I mean a legit knockdown. People tend to leave that part out. I agree with you though I would have liked to see that fight. I don't know if it is true but supposedly Williams was asking for too much money. I would have liked to see that fight.
