Let's say you're in a bar and you look a little too hard at some chick's ass. her b/f nuts up and takes you outside.
You're younger and stronger, so you think to yourself, "No problem, I'll take this old guy down!"
You swing and miss, he peppers you a few shots, sidesteps, and does it continually.
When you do land a few shots, they have no effect on him. He keeps backing up, stepping in, peppering you, stepping around you, peppering you again. He just continually peppers you. He closes your right eye. you haven't landed anything significant at all.
When the police show up and the fight breaks up, didn't you still just get your ass kicked?
i hear you on that bro, in no way was i coming at you and attacking you in my post, id be frustrated too if i was juarez, im not going to deny that barrera was on the back foot most of the night and juarez wanted to engage, but barrera did not want too. but then in my opinion juarez needs to have a plan B in order to make barrera feel uncomfortable and fight him the way juarez wanted to fight him. barrera cant be to blame for this in my opinion, juarez did not do what he said he would do. he said he was gonna apply pressure and take MORE risks, he didnt do that, if he done that, then barrera would not have been "running" away because he would have caught up with barrera with his constant pressure and risk taking. No big deal, buddy. I didn't think that you were.
Anyhow, if anyone really wants to find visual evidence of MAB mixing some of his punches, all one has to do is check out the photo gallery on this site. There are quite a number of pictures there where Barrera was dishing out a right straight, a right cross, a left uppercut, a left hook...
Barrera's having dominated through his jab may have made some over-look the other things he did. The jab was indeed the predominant weapon, but there were others in the arsenal that were also used, albeit, more sparingly. Be that as it may, one of the very few uppercuts left that damage that Juarez himself confessed to.;)
True. Agree on all points.
I cited Juarez's statement about what inflicted the damage on the eye to corroborate your earlier post that Barrera did, indeed, use punches other than a jab.
I just felt it fair to add Juarez's claim of MAB running in as much as both statements were made in the very same interview.

even though barrera "ran" or in other words did not want to engage in a brawl with juarez, its not barreras fault that juarez couldnt adapt, even when barrera lost to pacman, after he got knocked down in the 3rd round by pacquiao, barrera was not tryin to brawl with pacman and he was on the back foot all the time after he got knocked down in the 3rd round, but you know what, pacman didnt have it, he didnt just wait on the outside, he made barrera fight even at times when he didnt want too and was landin on barrera on the outside and the inside, my point is pacman adapted and took barrera out of his rythm, but juarez did not, is barrera really to blame for this??? i dont think so, juarez did not do what he said he was gonna do.True. Agree on all points.

Juarez himself said in an interview that it was an uppercut that inflicted the damage to his eye, although, (it must be added) he also complained that Barrera just kept running.

did you watch the same figtht as me??? yeah barrera did jab mostly and was circling but he was also using his uppercut and was throwing lead right hands when he saw an opening, barrera looked VERY focused on the job at hand and in the first 2 rounds and let juarez know that he was fightin a different fighter, although barrera didnt fight the brawl alot of you people wanted, juarez is the one to blame, he was the one that said he was gonna apply pressure, he was gonna change his tactics, throw punches, combinations, etc....and he did NOTHING!!! he tried to fight on the inside but barrera clinched him up and he didnt have an answer for it, barrera adapted, juarez didnt and has shown he is just one dimensional.
now i think barrera vs pacman will go ahead....even if pacquiao were to lose against morales in november :boxing:Juarez himself said in an interview that it was an uppercut that inflicted the damage to his eye, although, (it must be added) he also complained that Barrera just kept running.
my point as well, barrera was not trying to break his opponent down he was just running and jabbing no lead rightsw no uppercuts just a jab, you can't win a fight on just a jab.

I know it was a smart fight he fought... but my point is that he should've brawled and gave his fans/people a hell of a fight for the fact that it was Mexico's Independence Day, everyone was expecting a brawl but he didnt do it... thats why im pissed...
what does the fact that it was mexican independence day have to do with how a man fights a fight? I guess that winning isn't good enough to mexican people around the world on this particular day? How absurd is that!!!!
PAC is great.
but ur going over board with your statement.
Going overboard?
How?
Don't tell me PBF is your p4p. How can you muster enough courage to add a duck as you p4p man. lols! A duck for a p4p? Pathetic.
Well... I'm willing to recant if it's winky as he has been fighting more names opponents as of late.
Sorry dude.
PAC does.
That's why PAC is p4p number 1. He makes elites like MAB look like target practice.
PAC is great.
but ur going over board with your statement.
Exactly man. All the little kids that are whining about Barrera's style this fight are crybabies. Barrera is a winner and he knows how to win. It looked ugly, but he got the decision. Not every fighter can win and look pleasing with a fight of the year every time out.
Does everyone here forget that Barrera has given us COUNTLESS great fights.
Sorry dude.
PAC does.
That's why PAC is p4p number 1. He makes elites like MAB look like target practice.
Fair enough, man. I just misinterpreted. You are right with Barrera though. Good K when i can.
same for u my friend
but still computer illiterate to figure out how the karma thing works...
Nope, outboxing someone is hitting without getting hit. Duran outboxed Leonard except he did so on the inside, not on the outside.
wut u said is right.
but i was referring to what Barrera was tryin to do.
he cleary didn't wanna be on the inside...
and what he did on the outside, it wasn't up to par wit some of the great performances (great outSIDE boxing i'd call) i've seen in the past.
and i wanna quickly point out something although i think a lot of you already know this...
OUT-BOXING is not just jabbing and moving, leaning forward and locking arms in close range.
you've got to jab, move, jab, move, keep the most comfortable distance, throw in combinations here and there, body shots, roll and slip in close range, hold intelligently, systemetically break down an opponent...
that's what i'd call "masterful" performance...
and i'd be more than impressed by that...
Today is Mexican Independence, he should've brawled and gave his fans and people one hell of a fight.. But no, instead he fought a smart fight, but to the fans it was a boring ass fucking fight and didnt expect that to happend.. fuck barrera, im pissed at him today
maybe boxing is not your sport
I know it was a smart fight he fought... but my point is that he should've brawled and gave his fans/people a hell of a fight for the fact that it was Mexico's Independence Day, everyone was expecting a brawl but he didnt do it... thats why im pissed...
If he had gone into this fight in a brawling style there is a better than even chance that he would have lost. How would that have helped his case for a rematch with Pacquiao? Personally I'm more interested in seeing the Pac rematch, though I still think Barerra will lose, than I am in seeing him risk the possibiity in fighting stupidly against a young Juarez.
I'm sorry, but Juarez proved tonight that he's one-dimensional and not worthy of standing with the elite fighters of the division.
So what you wanted was Barerra to fight in a losing style so you could feel like you got your money's worth? He should have limited his future possibilities so you wouldn't feel ripped off?
See, this sport is called "boxing", which is what he did. It's also called "prize fighting". Didn't he keep his eye on the prize, and do what he needed to keep it?
If all you want is hard punches, brawling and blood, UFC just might be for you.
no i'm a pure boxing fan. UFC wont do me any good.
and you're puttin words in my mouth.
i didn't just blame barrera for the lack of excitement
but it is a fact he ran and circled for the majority of the rounds, while JUAREZ couldn't do anythin about it.
dont get me wrong, i love watchin masterful BOXING matches,
(delahoya vs trinidad, leonard vs hagler, pbf vs corrales, hopkins vs tarver, sweet pea fights, etc.)
but today, i just didn't see anything spectacular.
i didn't see barrera's performance as MASTERFUL as the announcers called it.
MASTERFUL can be said when the boxer follows up with hooks and uppercuts, combinations, etc...not JUST jabbin and moving.
i said it again and again, while barrera clearly won the fight,
he wasn't all that impressive...in fact, not at all...
well seing how this fight at a bar is highly unlikely, this doesnt make that great of an argument
.. Most pissed off drunk dudes take one or two swing ad if there is no KO it is a wrestling match. Maybe yu should view more bar brawls. Cause they neevr end up like boxing matches kid
I have probably busted more heads in barroom brawls than you've seen pussies. I really don't need your input to know that the scenario I outlined is unlikely. It's called a hypothetical situation for a reason.
Perhaps you should be wearing my new user title?
even a mexican and a huge mexican fan understands how boring that main event was.......
thats enuff 4 me
As I said before:
If all you want is hard punches, brawling and blood, UFC just might be for you.
I just noticed someone changed my user title. Thanks!! If you were trying to get me upset, you're going to have to try much harder than a weak attempt at an insult on a message board :)
I was getting tired of the old one anyway.
i thought it was pretty funny :D
its funny.... cause its true! lol. im just kidding.

again. nobody is blaming him for doing what he had to do to win. the world was just expecting a better fight, and for 50 bucks, it clearly wasnt worth it to the people who paid the full price to watch!
