PBF has some good skills so maybe he could. :) But comparing his power to those great welters is a big let down, so I have my serious doubt.
How would you suppose PBF will fight Hearns? Hearns is a tall welter with hands speed, foot speed and power.
Tommy Hearns KO7 Mayweather.
Tommy's reach would kill Mayweather especially if Hearns can get close enough to land that right hand. and Hearns is like 6'1 and Mayweather is like 5'9.
floyd would compete with any fighter in the history of the game. he beats leonard and hearns, and gets knocked out against robinson. not to say he wouldnt compete with him well though
I bet you did'nt have a straight face when writing this. He needs to start beating decent fighters convincingly for me to think he can beat Hearns. Let alone Leanard ;)
SRR is god!!!
No, but seriously, big LOL at someone who says SRR was not a puncher.
Who ever said that? If they did let me at em. Sugar Ray Robinson had one of the sharpest and most deadly weapons in history! His left hook ;) . Right was'nt bad either!

he would crush all three...yea they all hit hard but you cant KO what you cant hit.....he would KO any of the three but he would surely beat the shit out of them...
All 3 are fast, so Floyd is going to have to deal with their speed as well.
Floyd got tagged by Corley so you have to readjust your thought..if that was a punch landed by Robinson or Hearns, Floyd would have been sleeping.
no way in hell could floyd beat hearns hearns jab is sickiningly powerful and long and floyd combos suck ...corrales is nothing like hearns noone is like hearns and im not even a hearns fan
I'm sure there were many top caliber opponents back in the day too.
Monkey Boy's right training hasn't changed much. It really comes down to heart, determination and a serious killer instinct. But you could also say the dollar signs will motivate jsut about anyone to become great.

Floyd is one of my favorite fighters today...But he is too small to compete with yesterdays great welters. They all had comparable skills along with greater strength and punching power. Leonard took shots from Hearns...Do you think Floyd can hurt him? Hearns competed well against Ray Leonard...so Floyds speed wouldnt be anything new. SRR was relentless and would put lil Floyd on his A$$!
natural talent/gifts, are still rare...forget the other athletes that are using steroids to make-up for their poor genes, I am talking about "natural" guys...If we are so advanced today as yesterday, where is BO JACKSON 2? How come every fighter doesn't have the power of Foreman or the speed of Ray Leonard?
Maybe we should talk about work-ethic...maybe if some of these heavyweights would follow the work-ethic of some of the guys from "back in the day" we might have Heavyweights that don't get tired in the 3rd round, or show up with a spare tire around their waist
Compare these 3:
Floyd is today's Leonard....Margarito, I guess is Hearns....Duran, maybe Hatton
Wow, what evolution has given us
Yeah I don't see how you can compare today's fighters to those who fought 15-20+ years ago unless its just wins, losses, belts etc.
I don't agree. We have film of fights, training, sparring, info about all of the above not just visual proof. We have analysis from experts, pundits and the general public. What more do you need? By making the above point you are saying that we cannot compare ANY fighters if they have not directly faced each other or had a common foe.
20 years ago is 1986. Not exactly distant history. There may have been advances in nutrition and certain physical training techniques but the guys we are talking about were as primed and trained as anyone today. Boxing training has not changed that much. In fact it seems that most training and exercise techniques from prior decades still are used.
If you watch as many Leonard fights as Floyd fights you will have a pretty good grasp of their respective abilities. If you are familiar with their opponent's abilities as well then you can see how they deal with certain qualities of fighters and styles too.
Leonard, Duran and Hearns were the cream of their generation. They fought each other which makes it easier to compare and classify them. They had all respectively destroyed high level competition. Not beat, DESTROYED. I personally find it quite easy to compare.
Floyd is an excellent boxer. He would not beat Floyd, Duran, Hearns or Robinson.
Abe, thanks for that Ray Robinson video. Ray was masterful in his day.
So were the others. You know, it's always hard to compare old boxers with the new ones due to many different factors. For ex: the improvement and evolution of todays fighters. Also, the old fighters trained for 15+ rounds compared to the 12 of today. But, my guess is if PBF fought SRR today, it would probably end in a draw. Ray Robinson had a mean killer instinct.
I dont think anybody who faces someone with the skills of floyd would have an easy night by any means, but i personally couldnt see him beating any of those 3 at this weight.
Floyd's natural weight is not 147, so he'd probably lose to all of them. Although I think he has a chance with Hearns if Hearns power doesn't bother him.
As good as floyd is you have to be on crack to think he can beat
ROBINSON,HEARNS OR LEONARD THREE LEGENDS if a person thinks floyd could beat any of them the kid would have to be a 12 year old or something
