He's avoiding Mayweather with all this Trinidad discussion. De La Hoya-Trinidad II is garbage. I seriously doubt people that aren't Mexican or Puerto Rican want to see this. De La Hoya easily controlled the first fight and deserved a victory. The rematch will be a blowout. I'd pick Oscar to knock him out in all honesty. Trinidad has been completely outclassed by the three best boxers he fought, stopped by one, dropped a decision to one, and got a bullshit decision against this one, which is the only reason a rematch is even being discussed. This fight won't do anything for DLH's legacy because Trinidad was already embarrassed twice since his embarrassing should-have-been defeat against Oscar. Mayweather is undefeated and the pound for pound king. Mayweather-DLH is the fight to make. If Oscar fights Trinidad, I'll never be able to find it in my heart to forgive him. Not after talking about fighting Mayweather for so long and bailing out. I know Oscar doesn't want to retire with a loss to Mayweather, but going out with an easy win over Trinidad means less to me than a close loss to Mayweather, who could be one of the top 3 greatest fighters of all time by the time he retires. I'll lose a lot of respect for Oscar if this Trinidad fight happens, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that.
DLH/tito 2 just isnt gonna happen, so im not sweating about it.
but if by some unlikely chance it DOES happen, yes, i will lose a lot of respect for oscar.
hope everybody gives DLH shit for this like they have been giving Mayweather for not fighting an Margarito.
So true, besides the ducking part. DLH vs trinidad would be a good, competitive, and lucrative fight. Mayweather is not well known to the public and not as legit a draw as Trinidad when it comes to fighting Oscar. Mayweather would likely murder DLH anyway unless there are weight complications, so why would you want to see it?
I thought you guys knew about boxing. Lets look at it like this, DLH fights PBF and loses, what does that do for pbf? Nothing as all the DLH nutthuggers will claim that he beat an over the hill fighter. (DLH in his thirties already) DLH-Trinidad II now, that will generate huge money for both fighters then they can run into the sunset. Which is the main objective in this sport. The issue at hand is that DLH HAS been talking Trinidad for years, he NEVER got over that lose regardless of what anybody thinks, thus the reason he keeps talking about him. On the other hand Tito does not appreciate DLH uttering his name, nobody would thats why he is getting pissed at DLH and if that happens and they actually fight: Tito will go in like he went in against Vargas and that spells trouble for DLH. My issue with DLH-Tito is that if DLH wins most likely there would be a rubber match. And I really don't feel like seeing two boxers past their primes going at it. It's a no win( on the legacy part) for everyone. PBF will get critisized for beating up an old man and DLH-TITO would settle what?
I agree, DLH/Trinidad II would be meaningless now. Should've been done in 2002.
Dude who the HELL is that DAMN!!! I don't mean to get off the subject but DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMO
Oscar fights Floyd- Floyd wins and Oscar goes out on a loss but he did fight the best in the game
Oscar fights Felix- He most likely wins, but I doubt anyone is really impressed.
I don't see Oscar and Floyd being a great fight anyway. I question how Floyd would be at 154 though.
Oscar have never ducked anyone and is a good boxer even after his retirment.
He is just doing this to show Mayweather that he is the boss and he calls out the shot and he is choosing the dates.
What will happen to Floy Sr Jr relationship?
EXACTLY I don't know why people can't see this. GOOD POST!!!!!!!
Exactly what I said earlier.
Lets get one thing straight in this thread......Oscar has never ducked people and has always fought the best out there......anyone who disagrees with that is a fucking tool.......

By taking Tito instead of Floyd he will be doing something he has never done in his career.

Good post I couldn't have said it better myself.

Oscar will fight Floyd, it's pretty much decided. Oscar is just using this so he doesn't get screwed out of his paycheck. Tito is not a bum, but he shouldn't be shown on TV anymore much less PPV. If your looking at it from a marketing standpoint Tito only looks better if you disregard his last fight although he has one more thing that helps. He didn't look exciting, he looked outclassed and overmatched. It was fun to watch but not exciting. PBF - DLH would be a huge fight though still though its hard to say which will be bigger. PR will likely watch the fight just because its Tito win/lose/draw. Still PBF-DLH is a better fight for DLH if he wants to go out with a greater legacy.
Take your Green, Red, and White blinders off and get off DLH's nuts. If DLH didn't need Floyd, then he wouldn't be trying to make the fight happen in the first place. He knows what Floyd would mean to his career. And in your DLH nuthugging rant you forgot that DLH is going to try and make a hard push to bring PBF in his promotions camp. But according to you, he doesn't need Floyd, right?
This is partly a negotiating ploy but a lot of this is a back up plan. If negotiations get to a boiling point, I know DLH won't hesitate to go to Tito. He's accomplished a ton in his career and I know in the back of his head he's thinking "I've earned the right to go out with an easy win" which is what Tito would be.
And btw, Tito is not a bum career wise, but in his present state he is a damn bum. Bottom line. He would present no problems for DLH.
First off jack ass my quote has nothing to do with being hispanic. How do you even know that I am? What because I am an Oscar fan and because I have Juan Diaz on my avtar. Way to stereotype retard. Someone always has to be ignorant enough to throw race into the mix. Yes it would help Oscar's career if he went out on a win against Floyd but it isn't going to hurt him if he doesn't. Saying that he plans on bringing Floyd into his promotion has nothing to do with the fight or his career, so nice try. Oscar is not gonna worry about Floyd in negotiations. Floyd will put ip a fight, but in the end he will sign to Oscars terms because there is to much money in it for him, and he is not stupid enough to watch his payday fly out the window. Floyd in the end is the one who needs Oscar beacuse he will never make that kind of money anywhere else. Oscar knows he could go on and fight Joe Blow and make 20 million dollars. I'm not saying that is gonna happen but the point is he knows he could do those numbers no matter who he fought, and Floyd knows it too. The Tito talk is just to make Floyd sweat a little, no matter how cool he is trying to be about it. This fight is gonna happen, so I don't even no why you are trippin.
How is this a BIGGER duck? Oscar is nor ducking Floyd. It hasn't even happened and your already saying he is ducking him. The difference is Floyd has been doing this for a long time. Oscar has never ducked anyone and you think he is afraid of Floyd. Yea he'll move up in weight to fight Hopkins, but he's afraid of Floyd.PLEASE!!!! I can't beleive peopple are getting all worked up into beleiving this. Oscar is gonna fight Floyd. This is a negotiating ploy. Like I said Oscar is just trying to show Floyd that he doesn't need him, and can go on and make big money elsewhere unlike Floyd. This is just to eventually hype the fight more and Oscar is just flexing on Floyd a little. Floyd always tries to call all thee shots in negotiations and call the shots and Oscar that is not gonna happen with Oscar. When it comes to negotiations Oscar will call all the shots. Relax Tampax!!!!

I disagree with Oscar's place in history
From what he has said after the Mayorga fight, if he wimps out of PBF and chooses Tito, he will be remembered for ending his career not willing to take on the best.
Are you fucking serious? Oscar has taken on the best his entire career and you are gonna say that he needs to take on Mayweather or he will be labled with that. Perhaps you forgot about Quartey,Trinidad,Vargas,B-Hop,Genaro Hernandez,Rafael Ruelas need I go on. What was I thinking all these guys are scrubs. Shit saying B-Hop should be enough in itself. Yea your right he has never taken on the best fighters in the world. That will only be justified by taking on Floyd.
Makes sense but purely from a business stand point, DLH is the one who makes the fight, like I said before you think people paid for the Mayorga fight to see Mayorga? No. At this point in his career DLH could fight Tito's mother and make it a big fight, but honestly I don't think that Tito coming back for the rematch would excite very many people, but for the average fan to hear that DLH is fighting a young, undefeated, no.1 p4p boxer in the world would make it an incredible event that would bring in more money then a Tito rematch could. If it had happened earlier I think it would have been the biggest fight in history, but at this point in both of their career i don't think it would bring record breaking sales. Honestly If DLH is thinking about his legacy & how to end it in legendary fashion, then a Mayweather fight is the only choice. I have alot of respect for DLH, but win, lose, or draw to see him take the fight against PBF would knock him up a notch on my all time favorite fighters list.
Now this is a post from a PBF fan that I can respect.
Boxing needs Mayweather-Hatton, DLH is a lost cause, his whole career is built on Trinidad which is why he echos his name 24/7. Boxing needs a clean start, and comeback after blowing the 90s and early 2000s ;)
Mayweather-Hatton is a new fight, DLH-Mayweather is meaningless
Saying that Oscars career was built around Tito is an ignorant statement.
Roger that, Tito was never a bum.
The majority of the people that are gonna say Tito is a bum are the Floy nuthuggers. I am not even a Tito fan. I have never liked the guy, but as a fighter I respect him and would never consider him a bum.
Back to business.
Do any of you take college level marketing? Or maybe business?
Anyway, I was talking purely from a business standpoint, why DLH/Tito will make more money and gather more publicity. PBF is not long enough in a spot light to be as distinguished as Tito nor does PBF's style(not that I somehow downgrade his skills) is exciting enough for average people.
LEt me ask you something, do you think an average Joe will be able to distinguish the beauty of pcket defense and countering?
I highly doubt, but what I am sure about is that average fan will be able to say "holy shit!" when he sees a huge punch landed. From that point Tito wins .
I agree with the fact that Tito is a bigger draw than Floyd is and Floyd will never come close to Oscar when it comes to drawing power. I can understan your point from that standpoint.
