i doubt the fight happens though..eventhough the 6 foot corrales wouldnt have a problem making 147
The Margarito hating has achieved a hilarious level.
First he has to agree to fight the overhype job Paul "The Punisher" Williams who isin't on his level......and happens to be "Calling him out".
Now he's being "Called out" by a lightweight?
Same way Margarito "happens" to be calling out Mayweather
I'm one of the biggest Chico fans in the world, and I'm honestly not so sure he gets past Casa that easy. I know Casa is on the downward spiral of his career, but a Chico fight vs Casa will never be easy, even if both *****z are the old folks home in wheel chairs fighting over the last piece of vicodin.

LOL!!!!! Corrales shouldn't go any higher than Jr WW, this guys punch a lot harder than Casamayor.
If he goes to 147, he better get used to the weight, and fight an easy fight or two. I wonder what his power would be like at Welter. He could go to 140 first.
If he was truly hurt, and he was clear-eyed an not wobbly at all when he stood back up, 15 seconds would not have been enough time to recover.
Even after the delay Castillo didn't "jump on" him. He knew that Corrales wasn't hurt, so he chose a measured attack, instead. That, or he didn't have anything left in the tank to jump on Corrales with. After the previous rounds, it's surprising that either of them had enough left in the 10th to KD or hurt the other.
It does give Castillo fans a seemingly valid excuse for how he got KO'd on his feet by a guy he had KD'd twice in the same round, though. It's a lame excuse, but seemingly valid.
The thing about the mouthpiece i always come back to is, if Corrales had been truly hurt, the extra 15 seconds would not have been enough for hi to recover and fight as well as he did afterwards.
I tend to believe him when he says he was trying to take it out for a second to breathe and unintentionally dropped it. You can look at the tape and see the "fuck" expression on his face when it slipped out of his glove.
It still casts a shadow on the fight, but not as big a shadow as Castillo fans would have you believe.
It gave him time to recover in the sense that had it not happened, Castillo would have had the chance to jump right back on him and finished him. Instead he was given valuable time to recover and regain his senses. Thats a lot of tim in boxing. It's over and doesn't matter anymore, but I don't beleive for one minute that it was unintentional. I'm not hating on Corrales because I have a lot of respect for the guy but you an't say it doesn't cast the same shadow, Corrales had the option not to fight the second fight but decided to. I realize he did it for the fans and that is why I have respect for him but I think that played a major factor in his win of the first fight.
I completely agree with you there. Corrales spitting out his mouth piece three times was bullshit. I could see maybe once, but three times is intentional.

What would it say about him if he could do it tho?
Thats tough to do, Duran did it succesfully but its a big jump. The biggest jump in boxing is probably from the lightweight to jrWW/WW.
I would like to see Corrales fight Hatton or rematch Castillo at 140lbs before he moves up to 147lbs.
Chico should test the waters at 140 first.
Mosley jumped from 135 to 147, if he were to go that rout I don't think it would be smart to go straight to Margarito.

Yeah, I just didn't want the thread to devolve into a who cheated more thread.
My thoughts on Corrales vs Diaz similar to yours:
If I'm Corrales I like the fight and would schedule it after the Casamayor fight as a last fight at 135lbs before moving up.
If I'm Diaz's people I see no rush in this. Juan is what 21-22years old? There is no need to put him in with a lightweight beast like Corrales at the time. If I was Diaz's camp I would let Diaz have a couple of more fights against ANYONE ELSE at 135lbs.
I dont think Daiz would stay a long time in boxing he is in college and he got the whole future in front of him.

Corrales chin is underrated. Just because one bad night it stick with this reputation of glass chin.
He withstand Castillo 10 round and KOed him in the last, It either Mayweather has a strong jab or Castillo power in underrated so both are wrong as you cant see. As for the spitting incident he was punished by point deduction and Castillo punishment is suspend from fighting las Vegas because wieght issue it a big thing he is a pro and he should now better then to come overwieghted twice or three times espcially in a big event like that. So justice is served for both fighters.
Corrales not only fought Castillo and Casamayor and he won at what they do best and that is enought to make him look good. He is grown better after Gossen taken charge and is developed as a fighter.
I completely agree with everything you just said, I was just responding to what siomeone else said. I think you are right about him moving up. He does have the height, but I don't know about the strength or power when fighting a legit welterweight. I also feel that the two fights with Castillo may have taken a lot out of him. Also, I would love to see him fight Juan Diaz, but I would like Juan to maybe have a couple more fights and not rush into this fight. I honestly may be in the minority that thinks Diaz could beat Corrales. You made a good post with a lot of good points.

I like the thought of chico at JWW. He's getting older and while he can make the weight for LW, I think he fights more comfortably at JWW.
Margarito at WW?...I think Tony's too big. JLC put him out with one punch at the lighter weight, imagine what a Margarito shot does.
But credit to Corrales if he does take the fight. The guy has a set of iron balls.
when your drained from making weight...that affects your ability to take shots..thats why vargas was dropped by mosley
lol...marg would get his ass beat up although Corrales does have a glass jaw....
Marg would not get his ass beat by Corrales. JLC put him down, and Marg is bigger and stronger than Castillo. Marg is a big welter, and Corrales could not stand in toe to toe like he did with Castillo.
That discussion has been done ad nauseum. Lets keep try and keep it on topic.
I would still like to see Corrales vs Diaz before he moves up but thats just me. Corrales has the height and reach to move up to jrWW and possiby WW but I'm not sure if his power and strenght will translate well if he goes north of jrWW.
A few things that need to be seen. First how much did those 2 Castillo fights take out of Corrales. 2ndly how will his body react to the extra 5lbs of jrWW. Will he be stronger, faster, and better stamina without having to lose those tuff extra few pounds or would the bigger guys at jrWW be to much for Corrales?

Definitely time to move up...for somebody who is 5'11"-6'0" and walks around at 160-plus, making weight time and time again is going to shorten Chico's career....but he shouldn't move up to full welter to face Margarito, because that's just stupidity, not balls. There are a lot of great matchups at junior-welter. Corrales/Hatton or Corrales/Vivian Harris anybody? Without having to drain himself as much as before, he'll be plenty strong enough to be a major force at 140.
