toney is the greatest fighter that ever lived...
tunney(stays on back foot) ali(dance and 1 2 combo) moore(defene cross arm straight right) walcott(shoulder roll counter right) chareles(hand placement) and tyson(hook body uppercut combos) make up his skills..
a 38 year old middleweight beating heavyweights...
lamon brewster said hes like a ninja and would be his hardest fight
The only thing i think B-hop has really done is got his 20 under his belt apart from that hes only really beat Tito and Oscar as the 2 best guys, and i understand that they are big names to beat, but oscar was way above his best weight n got a love tap the side, i think toney is a better all round figher, with a better style and harder punch(possibly even a better chin, although both hav amazin ones) i think james is deff a all time great, if u match up what hes done with guys like Jones,Joe Cal lol jokin they to are very over-rated i think toney is the man tho, should hav been more dedicated in trainin tho
I think his boxing skills and raw natural talent are in the "all time great league". I just wonder how he'd do if he came in 25 lbs lighter at 208 or so. I don't think we've seen his best at the heavy weight division. He seems to be of the mind set that the weight somehow helps him. If he would think of himself as more of a boxer instead of a fighter, I think he'd be held in even higher regard. But no doubt he is an amazing talent.
when toney was fighting booker and ruiz at 227 he looked awesome. james needs to be under 230 to be at his best

in hops last fight, he looked like he should have been a lt. hw for the last few years
toney is an all time great, but he didn't live up to all his potential
Yah I know Nard should have been, but so should a lot of fighters. Nard didn't have to drain himself he was just VERY focused and disciplined. Theyre both ATGs to me. Though I wish Toney gave a damn about boxing, he could have done alot more. Though I think if Hopkins wanted to he could go over lt hwt. I wish he would have sooner = /
just the fact that he should only be a middle weight and is 5'9 and he just beat the shit out of sam peter who is the FUTURE at 38 years of age is unbelievable , its rediculous, talk about pound for pound hes fighting guys 100 pounds more then his fighting weight..
Yet people are quick to bash Roy and say hes not an all time great because he did that. That being said I think Toney IS an all time great although his run at heavyweight probably did more to hurt then help that cause. Still if he retired today (hope hes done finally) he would be a HoF no doubt. Though quoting someone else saying hes higher then Nard? Thats very easily debatable. Its hard to say who was better as nard only moved up once.... though when it did it was masterfull destruction of Tarver. I think in general Nard will be rated higher then Toney. But P4P Toney is better (maybe). Now your hurting my head. At middle Bernard is the better of the two. Everyone bashed him saying he was afraid to move up to the big boys.... but when he did he killed Tarver. Which makes you wonder..... but if you go stats alone Bernard will be remember the better fighter of the two if they met at a weight near Nard but Toney being better at fighting in more diverse weight classes....

He is an all time great. Just like rjj and hop. Every era produces a selected few top notch fighters, these 3 are definitely among the ones in the 90s early 2000s
That says it all...Hes 5'8 and started his career at middleweight and hes fighting guys 6'3, 257 pounds. You have to be great to do that.

The fact that he was a MIDDLEWEIGHT and is even fighting guys at 240lbs and schooling them speaks to his talent.
This is just silly now  what he does from this point on is not really going to hurt him . He is what 38 and is an all time great no matter what happens from this point on, it only makes him better .

LEt see what Toney can accomplish in the heavyweight division before we can judge him if his an all time great.

If he retired now, hes an all time great in most peoples minds. Could he have been greater had he kept himself in shape? Yes. Is he still a great fighter reguardless? Yes.
seriously, fix your signature...
and no, i do consider Toney an all time great, champion in multiple weight classes, what, are you trying to make me hate Paul Malignaggi?
