By Karl Freitag at the scales
Heavyweight contenders James Toney and Samuel Peter weighed in today for Saturday's heavyweight elimination bout at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Toney weighed in at 233, a few pounds less than he weighed for his previous fight against Hasim Rahman. Peter weighed in at 257. After the stare down both fighters became embroiled in a shouting match to the delight of the many fight fans who came out to see the event. Order was quickly restored and now the table is set for another excellent matchup SHOWTIME championship boxing this weekend.
I like Toney in this fight. I watched Peter's training video up on the BS vid site and it didnt seem like he was in the best shape, especially compared to what i've seen form him before.
I agree, this is very surprising, but it makes sense. People always sided with Tyson for his power and still do to this day. People want excitement in the division. For some reason, they think Peter is the guy to bring it. I think Peter sucks. We'll find out on Saturday I guess. :D
Since you're so confident..
How about you don't show your face for 6 months if Toney loses??
Come on...do it...
Didn't you say Floyd is an embarrasment if he doesn't KO Zab?
Now you're all over his nuts..
Dude, the only way Peter will stop Toney is if he has one of these with him.

With an airsoft?
Toney doesnt take much then...
If you said one of these then ok

But an Airsoft mp5? :(
Rahman did hit Toney many times, he did not hurt Toney once, Rahman hits just as hard as Peter.
That's what i'm saying, i don't understand why, all of a sudden, people act like knocking out James Toney is an easy thing, or something that will easily happen...
no. you were stating their ability to take punches. I mentioned Morales cuz that's what people said that he hasn't been KD etc.
Bsides, Toney won't run away. HE WILL GET TAGGED, believe that. He's not PBF. Rahman hit him many times.
Point being, Toney is not going to get hit AS MUCH in a fight with his style as, say, an Erik Morales..
man, i'm just so ready for this fight to happen, i'm tired of arguing
Those are two completely different types of fighters.. you have "blood and guts" Morales and you have "counter and make-you-miss" Toney, not even comparable

i don't look at Peter as amateurish too. I think this guy's style is just so unorthodox, many of his opponents can't adjust properly. This guy may throw wild punches, but when they land they're deadly and he doesn't stop once he hit YOU ONCE. lol.
yea. Everybody said Morales cannot be dropped by Pacquiao too. Look what happened to that guy. This is boxing. You got the perfect fighter to KO Toney, just like the perfect fighter to KO Morales.

I can't believe so many people think Toney's not going to make it past the first four rounds... like Toney's chin isn't solid or something... it blows my mind

Peter will land shots early in Rd 1. Let's see if Toney can survive the early rounds.

so damn what that just shows the confidence peter has in himself, he belives hes gonna knock toney out early...
whatever you say.. Not being in shape is always a sure-fire "confidence boaster" , he can believe what he wants, I believe he going to gas about 8 rounds in
Toney still looks like he's all fat in that weigh in video.
The man is just fat sorry. F A T.
Look at him, his chest is all fat.
I really dunno.......The man is just fat.
They are both fat fucks!!!! Peter is 6 foot 1 so he should not be weighing more than 230 and Toney should not weigh more than 215. No reason how someone like Wlad who is 6 foot 6 can keep his weight consistently at around 240-245 and his brother who was 6 foot 8 weighed no more than 250. Both these fat bastards should be ashamed. This is the worse display of overeating I have ever seen between two boxers who are ranked as high as these whales are.
hahaha, u gotta point dawg...
Nice job avoiding the fact you were talking out of your ass about the Rahman fight.
Wlad beat Peter because Peter expended all of his energy in the 5th round and didn't have the conditioning to put a combo together from the 6th round on. He was out of breath, and throwing a shot at a time the entire 2nd half of that fight.
Now, 13lbs heavier than he was on that fight, his conditioning is going to be even more suspect.

Obviously I meant James Toney. "Sam" was a typo. Wlad won that fight because he was tall enough to keep moving, and put his jab and cross combination in Peter's fight all fight to keep him off balance. He was also strong enough to tie Peter up when he got too close. Wlad was the perfect fighter following the perfect gameplan to neutralize Peter's strengths. Toney does not have the jab, strength, hitting power, or the reach to do this. This fight is Peter's.
