most boxers get knocked out/down quite a few times in theyre career,that doesnt stop them bein great,n the fact lewis went bak n avenged them losses,makes him even more great

Lewis was beaten, not by great fighters, not in a really tough fight. He was caught and KO'd because he was overconfident, and unfocused. Avenging loses to fighters he should never have lost to in the first place doesnt make him a great champion. Ali beating Spinks in the rematch didnt make Ali any better of a champion IMO. He beat a guy he should have beaten the first time around. And Ali was already great. I give Lewis all the credit in the world for being a dominant champion, and at his best he was great. But dismissing his loses by saying "he was just unfocused that night" happens too often. Im not discrediting him for losing, but for the manner in which he lost and to the opposition he lost to. Basically wat im saying is with heavywieghts, anything can happen, but for it to happen twice with Lewis always makes me question him as a truly great champion. He was great, but i question his greatness. i must agree with alot of that. i suppose in the end it comes down to an individual intepretation of 'greatness'

He was great, but i question his greatness. for me, the only stain on lewis' record is that he refused to fight chris byrd when byrdy was in his prime and deserved a title shot. i know byrd couldn't hurt lewis, and lewis said he refused the fight because byrd had no chance, i disagree, lewis would have won by decision / late TKO but i think the real reason he ducked byrd was the skillz of byrd would make him look bad, lennox didn't want another ugly win

thats a TOTAL lie second tyson beat the 2weakes champs at the time in seldon an bruno to win his hardly say thats a accomplishment worthy of hof alone A lie? Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield would have gave Mike Tyson trouble at any point in his career. I'd have to agree with the Holyfield part. He was a great warrior. But I think that in the end Tyson would catch him for a KO, or UD. If the fight had taken place when it was originally supposed to, it surely would have been a good one. Pre-prison Tyson.

Tyson was never KO'd by one punch. Neither was Ali. Tyson took a beat down for 10 rounds. Even the withered Ali lasted 11 with Prime Holmes. Lewis was KO'd not once, but twice with single punches. no denying tyson had the better chin of the 2,,,but lewis still would have beaten any version of tyson

Let's review. Tyson and Lewis both lost to fighters they should have beaten. Tyson was throughly trounced for 10 rounds by 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas. Yes, he showed heart by taking alot of shots. But how does that compare to Rahman and McCall landing the shot of their lives? Did Lewis not have heart for seeking immediate rematches and avenging his losses? I don't recall Tyson doing that. There are alot more things that can produce a KO other than the two factors you mentioned. Raw power, luck, and an assortment of other things can be listed as well. You cannot deny that Lewis had the far SUPERIOR career over Mike Tyson.Douglas knew he got lucky against Tyson, he knew Tyson wasn't 100 % for him so, he chose to fight Holyfield instead of a rematch, figuring he'd blow the little man away. I don't think Tyson had much to do with a rematch. Don King saw his gravy train end, and made the Holy-Douglas fight. Yes I can deny that Lewis had the far superior career over Tyson. They were both big draws, but Tyson was the biggest draw. And I think he fought the better quality opponents. Even after prison Tyson came back and won 2 titles. So lets see if in what? another year or so, if Lewis comes back and see if he can do it too after over 3 years away.
