Holyfield - Bates fixed?

lol at this. Bates is an insurance man who hasn't fought a fight in FOUR years. 43 or not this fight was never in question.

Was this the first fight you've ever seen? I've seen a handful of fights where the guy is taking punishment, and for a psychological edge, or to show the ref he's ok, or just out of embarassment, he encourages the other boxer to come at him. That's all that was... i agree how many fights do you see a guy bringing on another fighter even when he is getting the bajesus kicked out of him. just a guy trying to get into holys head or yes saying to the ref im ok. it was an average 9-5 man making money in one night for a half of year work.

To me it clearly looks like a fixed fight from that point. Most of Holy's shots are hitting Bates' gloves until the ref stops the fight. Bates is a insurance salesman who took this fight for 20 grand, nothing fixed about it, the dude is just a can.

When I first saw the fight my first train of thought was that it was fixed....I don't know though. Why would Holyfield's camp fix against a fighter like this?

maybe a little premature, especially with like 10 seconds left in the round. but there is no way bates survives the 3rd round, and if he did he would have gotten knocked out cold in the 4th. Bates was waaaaaay out of Holyfields league. Still an impressive win for HOLY in my opinion. i didnt think he could finish bates off THAT quickly.

The stoppage was definitly early, and Holyfield looked like crap.

You must be out of your mind. Bates was a tomato can who had no chance. After being pounded in the first round, wasnt it obvious that Bates was totally out of his league? I am a big Holyfield fan but it seemed to be fixed to me. In the first round, he backed Holyfield up and hit him with a good shot or two until he corners himself and lets Holyfield unload, waiting for the ref to stop the fight. He was trying to help Holyfield knock him out and give any opportunity to do so. The second round 'signal' just looks obvious to me.
