Some of us think Valuev has already lost - to Ruiz and/or to Larry Donald, but his record is still clean.
Monte Barrett's effort against Joe Mesi was too late, his KO of Owen Beck looked less impressive as Beck looked bad against Ray Austin and Valuev, and his win over Dominick Guinn lost its luster as Guinn went 2-3-1 in his next 6...
But a lot of people will agree with me that Valuev is very beatable by a competent Top 10 heavyweight. The Barrett that fought Rahman probably can't win the WBA title fight Oct. 7, but he can be better than that.
Who thinks Barrett can beat Valuev and if you were his trainer how would you try to go about it?
If you asked me after the Beck fight if Barrett could do it I definitely would have said yes. I'm not sure what happened the Rahman fight, though...
depends which barret shows up, he has the hunger and the better skills, if he did his best stick and move i'd say he beats the caveman
Valuev is very much beatable but I don't believe Barret can.
Look at Barrets last 11 fights record.
He lost to WLAD via 7th round TKO. After that he raked up 6 wins 2 tkos; 2 UDs and 2 split decission against mediocre fighters. Then he lost to Joe Messi via majority decission. Then he got a split decission against Dominic Guinn, then anothet TKO win against Owen Beck. After that a majority decission LOSS against Rahman.
It's not impressive at all. So Barret is just another lamb being fed to the lion.

it depends on what Valuev shows up... the current or the previous version
the current version, that has the money to properly train and hire decent sparring partners, will beat Barrett with a high probability
the previous version, that had little money and no sparring partners, will fight a boring fight with Barrett; and it will be a coin flip who wins
gatti being a huge fight is your opinion... IMO, gatti, mitchell zab had little chance to beat him and therefore 3 years of fighting guys that were long shots... i don't hate PBF, hell, i think P4P he would beat RJJ cause he's better technically... BUT my floydcott is about his lack of opposition not his ability...
I'm not a big fan of Mayweather, but the Judah fight was a good matchup in terms of skill and speed. Judah had at least a chance.
As far as Gatti, it was a HUGE mismatch, but it was a big fight in trms of making Mayweather a more recognizable name which s something he has struggled with, at least partly due to his choices of opponents. I can understand him wanting to make this fight from that aspect since Gatti is/was a highly popular fighter to the most casual of boxing fans.
Mitchell was well past his prime, but also a recognizable name in boxing, so in terms of getting his name out there, this also made sense.
I think that Baldomir is a huge mismatch as well, but he's the linear champion, so it's a fight tha should be made. Also, Baldomir is tough as nails. While Floyd will likely outland him 3-1, he will be there the entire fight, forcing Floyd to throwmore punches than he's used to. Baldomir stands a mch btterchance of winning than either Mitchell or Gatti did.
I think that thoughts on Floyd should now be put on hold to see what he does after the Baldomir fight. If he continues to handpick lesser opposition then he doesn't deserve the recognition. His biggest problem is that he's so talented finding opposition that isn't lesser may be a problem for him. Perhaps he's just a victim of his own skill.
barrett was chosen cause he will be a good sport and lose the fight, just like the rahman fight, he is don kings errand boy and he wouldnt even dream of derailing don kings undefeated gravy train
are u on drugs, dude seriously....
Barret is a skillful fighter.
I think Valuev will knock him out, but its not out of the question for Barret to win.
Who thought Douglass would beat Tyson?
Anyone who says a fighter has no shot to beat another fighter is a fucking moron.
Some people are just ignorant who arnt worth bothering with.
And Yes, anyone who has seen Barret fight knows he CAN beat Valuev.
are u on drugs, dude seriously....
Hes fought some of the best fighters in the division, and been ducked by the best.
Gatti was a huge fight for his career, mitchell was his first fight at 147 and Zab is a dangerous opponent everytime.
Now hes fighting the linear champion and you still are on "Floydcott."
Your definitly biased.

thats not my reason.... my reason is that everyone's he fought for the past 3 years was a HUGE underdog...i'm tired of him SELECTING mismatches... nobody made him fight gatti, mitchell or zab, he CHOSE to fight those mismatches... I'm not biased or ignorant, just tired of his charade...

Because Floyd is too good and dominates his opponents is no reason to take him off the p4p list.
He is number one, its simple.
Anyone who cant see that must be biased or ignorant.

ignorant??? no need to get insulting just because you disagree... i dont feel floyd's fought anyone that can even come close to beating him in 3 years... so for that i'm on a a floydcott, you disagree fine....

"Floyd has been pulled from my #1 spot. I am on a Floydcott til he fights a real challenger. "
Judah, Castillo, Corrales, Gatti, and Baldomir aren't real challengers? Why? B/C they're not unknown and proven KO artists? Would you prefer he move up to heavyweight and challenge Wlad?
Some people are just ignorant who arnt worth bothering with.

I don't see how Barrett can possibly beat Valuev, though I think Barrett has more talent, which isn't saying much.
Valuev's sheer size advantage will nullify anything that Barrett can bring to the ring, unless he's been hiding massive 1 punch KO power his entire career.
I still think it's hilarious how Barrett has been derided as a journeyman on these forums but is suddenly the "Great American Hope" now that the titles are all in the hands of Soviet-born boxers.
Barret cant and will not beat Valuev, Barret was always and will always be an average fighter. Watch the Klitschko-Barret fight and that will tell u why Barret will not be able to beat Valuev.
