That was no lucky punch it was a perfect set up one two. Maybe luck was on the side making it a ko but Foreman pulled the trigger himself and nothing can be taken away from that .
Thats the real deal right there...Big George pulled the trigger...HOW IS THAT LUCK?
Lucky is the wrong word.
Foreman was the inferior figher and he knew it, so he was looking to land a big punch, and it happened.
if it wasn't for moorers average chin he would be one of the worst fighters for foreman to face, mostly due to his hard right jab
If he had not landed that monster punch in round 10, most people would have said ...

I agree -- that was the only way he could win -- but the chance of landing the home-run punch was inevitably quite small
Except for the part where it was CLEARLY obvious he had the plan to set up that punch from the begining.
Teddy Atlas knew about it before the fight even happened, and tried to get Moorer prepared to be looking for it. I've seen him speak at length about it.
George was throwing the jab by itself all night just to set up the sneaky right following it to perfection and it worked.
No second guessing necessary. He went in there with that plan and it worked to a tee.
hahaha good point!
It wasent luck he outsmarted Moorer, with not giving away his power so Moorer thought he already had tasted George power, thinking to himself "you aint soo bad" then he got brave(or stupid)
and got Ko'd
BTW the punch was perfect! right on the jaw.
yeh tip of the chin with a slight upward angle thats one of the nastiest ways to get hit IMO
George Foreman, who's career record was 76-5 with 68ko's got lucky that he landed a knockout? Just think about that for a second and this thread answers itself.

George did stun him with a punch before the knockout punch came...you could argue Moorer should of just stayed away from Foreman, but he didn't because this is the ego of most boxers, to try to take someone out.
You also have to consider that Moorer didn't look like he had the same bounce in his legs because George was hitting him with body blows all fight long.
yes and no to that question.
no it wasn't a lucky punch because he was well trained and throwing it all night trying to get moorer into position. like Teddy Atlas said Foreman has been gearing up and was ready to do whatever it took to win that fight since losing to Ali, he was mentally prepared. (it was in Teddy's bio, which is a damn good read, i couldn't put it down, must own if you ask me)
but lucky yes because Moorer fell right into Foremans trap and started to get comfortable in the latter half of the fight. Moorer was handing down a beating the whole fight, and Foreman knew he was going to have to take punishment in order to get Moorer where he needed him, and as time went on he started positioning Moorer and by slightly missing, then as soon as Moorer thought that George was going to miss with the same punch,ZANG that shit popped him in the mouth and he never saw it coming..
when i first saw it it didn't look like much but after reading Teddy's book, he said that Moorers front tooth was sent through the mouth piece and into his lip. thats a hard fucking shot if you ask me. plus it was a short right hand from the shoulder of one of the hardest hitting heavyweights in history, looks can be deceiving........
michael moorer strikes me as the whiniest goof fighter of all time.
not only the crying about foreman fight but also on FNF not too far back he started complaining about how he cant train fighters cause there are so many "backstabbers" out there, when in reality he couldnt even train JD Chapman to tie someone up.

He knew what he was doing but I disagree with the whole " I was setting him up" explanaition that he gave afterwards. Moorer got careless and paid the price. Big Time
foreman was way behind on points but he had to know that would hapen against a guy with such a strong jab
but the knock out wasn;t just luck, hge got throuh with two weak 1-2s before he plowed it through moorers head, he knew what he was doing IMHO

Luck is a part of any fight . Lewis was lucky that Tyson didn't land ,Buster was lucky he 'beat the count' so was Tunney vs Dempsey . Foreman was a great fighter and an even greater knockout artist he knew what he was doing from the start. George had to have known that the fight was going to run the way it did until that point and when he says he set Morrer up I have to trust his word on it .with power like Foreman has there is very little luck needed to land a crushing blow I would say it was less luck on his side and more being that Michael was unlucky to walk into it .
