Legitimate Upset Champions?

I had forgotten about Ali (Clay) and the huge upset over Liston. The Baldomir over Judah win was more along the lines of the type of upset I was looking for: where the challenger was a not only the underdog, but fairly unknown as well (Douglas, Baldomir). Thanks for the replies.

i think ali was not only a great champ, his charisma brought many more fans to the sport...... Ali was hated like hell until the 70's. Maybe the most hated Heavyweight Champion in history, crowds bood him like nobody else during the 60's.

I think Marciano was actually the underdog in the fight with Walcott...they said that he would be exposed for not being a good "boxer" Tunney was the underdog going into the Dempsey fight, both times

This thread is just a backhanded way of nuthugging Cassius Clay. To make his debacle with Liston seem legitimate. Ali in an interview preceeding his bout with Zora Folley admits that he is not a power puncher and goes on to list all of the notable opponenents that he had stopped and does not mention Liston. are you ipmlying Ali is not a legit champ??

Muhammad Ali was an underdog against Liston. George Foreman was expected to lose to Frazier.

baldomir looks like a legitimate champ. we will see. even if he loses to mayweather, if he makes it a fight he is legit. Braddock upset baer and he was legite. idk, i guess their were plenty. cant think of many at the moment. But douglas was an embarrasment to the sport. He mad no attempt to get up off that canvas against holyfield. pathetic
