Does anyone know what happened between the two? Did his daddy call him ugly or something? I saw two interviews PBF did in the late '90's where all he could do was praise his "daddy" (as he called him) and said he wanted to fight to make money so he could support his "daddy" when he grew old.
That was in 1998. What happened?
I like Castillofan's take on it: Jr. was tired of Sr. taking the credit and hogging the spotlight. I can see where that would get old to somebody who was out taking the risks in the ring only to have somebody trying to take some of the glory.
I thought the deal was he replaced his father as his manager because he wanted James Prince. He figured Prince would help his rap label. That soured the relationship and he replaced him trainer.
this is a big misconception. Floyd does not hate his father at all. He just fired him as his trainer and manager because he felt his father put too much pressure on him to be perfect and he felt he was better off with someone else. Strictly business
I was at the TOP RANK gym in Vegas with Vanes and Freddie Roach when they were training for August 12.
Floyd Sr. came in earlier with his MB S-Class, he also had another S-Claass and SUV already parked in the gym parking lot, so you know he is well off.
But then, a few hrs later, Pretty Boy came through loll
Brand new S550 with probably $50K worth of upgrades on it, and behind him was his uncle in a Maybach, but the Maybach sign on the back of the car said Mayweather :D
They are allll in very good money, and money can easily ruin families.
Oh and Floyd is pretty damn demanding too(of course, he can afford it)
They open brand new gloves for him every time he trains.
I heard that little Floyd never really got over the fact that his father was imprisoned and not there for him for large periods of time when he needed him. That would explain the desensitization little Floyd showed in kicking his Dad out of his home wouldn't it?
Good post, I think there's always personal issues that'll get between a father-trainer/son-fighter situation that's why it very rarley works out.
Outside influences changed PBF. He started getting disrespectful. His dad could no longer control him. The side of PBF what is just like his Mayweather Sr. came out....the "thinks he's the shit" side.
I think the father/son relationship very rarely works out in boxing, simply cause when shit hits the fan they're your father, not your trainer. Also father rarely let their children run their own lives which is a tough situation to deal with for both parties. Whatever did happen with Jr./Sr. I think it was for the best cause it helped Floyd become a more well-rounded fighter with the help of his Uncle.
Its workin pretty good for calvin brack and shane mosely

I heard that Floyd hired Leonard Ellerbe who was in the music game and Sr. didn't like it and some argument or disagreement and Floyd threw Floyd Sr. out of his house he bought for him. All I know is they don't talk to each other anymore.
Everything is speculation but here is my take...
Floyd Sr. and Floyd Junior are EXACTLY alike...actually Senior is about 3x's as cocky then Junior...being so similiar appears to have made them grow farther apart...think about it Floyd Sr. requires just as much lime light as Junior...I dont think that goes over well with Junior.
Money-Senior isnt cheap and he dosnt give family discounts.
Ego...Floyd thinks anyone could traqin him and he would be the best in the world...Senior thinks that he made Floyd what he is and without him in the corner Floyd is vulnerable...Floyd has been trying to prove this a myth since the break.
Dude, if you're going to keep a picture of my girlfriend as your avatar, at least post something constructive. LOL. :boxing:
