Just to start off I still like Floyd Mayweather as I think he has incredible boxing skills. That being said I think his upcoming bout with Cory Spinks is BS. I have argued on several other threads about how unimpressive Spinks has looked in almost every fight, but clearly that is my opinion not fact. On the other hand, I believe this point should prove that Floyd is in fact cherry picking opponents with titles (especially here). Does anybody believe that Floyd's next fight would be against Karmazin had he beaten Spinks? I am nearly positive that Floyd would still be fighting at 147 or would have challenged Jose Rivera... not Karmazin. Please let me know if you agree or disagree.
You're 100% right... we can't control what he does. I just don't like him cherry-picking belts because it seems to confirm the Floyd is ducking ___ myth.
LOL...that it does seem but you fight to be the champ...if that route is easy thing them thats great for you...you get the belts and then prodeed to slay anyone that great near them...you know...like a old story tale...
yea...he is cherry picking for belts...nothing wrong with that...we all have fighter we would love for him to fight but who they hell are we.....lol

I can't say that I agree with you but at least you stand by your opinions. I had a couple of people tell me that he wasn't cherry-picking Cory Spinks as an opponent but wouldn't have fought Karmazin because he is too big and tough. If that isn't cherry-picking I don't know what is.

Talk about the ultimate defensive technical match up. Hopkins-Wright would be crazy. I give the nod to Bernard in that he was so crafty although I think Winky would be much faster than him. I also think Bernard fights really well against southpaws while Taylor isn't as experienced.
Yeah, It might not have been an exciting or entertaining fight, but for a lover of the sweet science of boxing it would have been a match made in heaven.
He would have been the match.......bald will meet him next year...bald has everyone fooled...they think he is not a boxer but i guarntee te fools them all...
I hope so too, I give Baldomir alot of respect, he's real effective at what he does, he's been doing it so long how can he not be. I would have rather seen that fight more then Margarito or Spinks but what done is done.
I'm not sure cause Soliman came in thowing so many punches from so many angels & still didn't land very many clean shots. Taylor came in with the best trainer & a perfect gameplan; throw straight shot right through the middle of his guard. I honestly just think he's not quite as good looking at 160 as he was at 154 & 147,(against Trinidad he was fighting a small MW at best) but he still gets the job done, & I thought he looked real good against a young champ like Taylor who was a much bigger opponent. What I sometimes wonder though is what would have happened if B-Hop had fought Wright instead of Taylor.

I think we saw the exact same Taylor-Wright fight. I had Wright winning a narrow decision but it was so close in so many rounds I couldn't really take exception to the draw. And even if Taylor lost, I have never seen Winky's face look like that after a fight. Btw do you think Winky is fading a little? His last two fights (Soliman and Taylor) he hasn't looked nearly as dominant as against Mosley and Trinidad.

That was the most logical fight to me also (Baldomir). So you think Karmazin would be the match if he won or you think he would have been a possibility?

yea playa..had Karm won the fight the pretty boy would be facing him...it looks as if pretty boy is only seeking out title holders and spinks is one now....me personally would have wanted him to face Bald and take his big belt...

Yeah, before the Wright fight he was 5 or 6 on my list, even i didn't want to give him his well deserved props for the 2 wins over B-Hop, but he got a draw & a well deserved one(even though I think he lost, it was too close to not accept the draw) against my no. 2 guy, his agression against Winky was very effective & he landed more shot on Winky then I've seen most fighters land, so i bumped him up a few notches.

I think you're forgetting the Wright/Taylor fight, they're both on my top 5 p4p list, actually they're both occuping my no. 2 spot until they fight again & someone comes out on top. I give props to Wright cause, well he's Wright 'nough said & I give Taylor props cause he beat B-hop twice(even though I don't agree with the first decision) & he did alot better against Winky then I expected him to personally I thought he lost, but he look great nontheless.
Yeah I don't have Taylor in my top 5 p4p, he is currently #6 on my list. But great match nonetheless. I think Taylor has got an unnecessary amount of shit over his last 3 fights. Sure maybe he is 0-2-1, but against guys that were top 3 p4p at the time he fought them. If more boxers took those kind of chances we as fans would be much happier. Props to both Wright and Taylor.
I think the most competitive fight in the sport today would be Wright-Mayweather. It wouldn't have the spectacle of a DLH-Mosley or DLH-Trinidad, but this would be the first time in a while 2 top 5 p4p fighters fought. I just don't think they will ever be able to agree on a split so unfortunately I don't think it will happen. If it did though then a trip to 154 definitely wouldn't be a waste.

Also I'd love to see him fight Wright at 154 so if DLH retires(which I hope he doesn't & decides to go out on top against Floyd win, lose, or draw) then it wasn't entirly a waste.

I never knew DLH was left handed...interesting. But you are definitely right that his butter punch is that left hook. I also am not sure that this fight will ever happen that is also why I am so turned off at Floyd's move to 154 to fight Spinks. If DLH retires then it will have been a sort of pointless move as I don't think he will unify at 154. He'll probably move back down and end up fighting some of the other fights that we want like Mosley, Margarito, Hatton, Cotto, Baldomir etc.

I'm not sure I can agree with that, it's speculation, we don't know what Floyd would have done if Spinks would have lost. I'm with you on that it's beginning to seem as though Floyd is cherry-picking his opponents, but he hasn't been doing it long enough for me to consider him at the RJJ level just yet, & he's trying to get a fight with DLH & Mosley which regardless of what you'd like to think would be very entertaining & competetive fights.
I think we agree more than you think. You wouldn't hear a peep of complaining out of me if he fought Mosley or DLH. And I will agree with you that my point is TOTAL speculation. It is just my opinion that he wouldn't have challenged Karmazin (only opinion). At least you acknowledge that a pattern is starting to form and btw I would never put him at RJJ level. Spinks may not be an attractive opponent but he is a professional boxer not a professional garbage man or construction worker.
Why is it all or nothing with everybody on both sides of this subject? I never said I hated Mayweather or I thought he was a pussy or anything insulting. I said one thing... I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS FIGHT AGAINST SPINKS. Furthermore I think Floyd cherry-picked him because he thinks that this will be an easy win at 154. I am not saying it will be easier or more difficult than a fight with Antonio Margarito, simply that Floyd wanted an easy belt at 154 so he took his chance. I personally think that he should have settled things at 147 and fought BALDOMIR. If that didn't happen then I would say the most attractive fight (not most difficult or deserving etc) would be against Margarito for a lot of $ (whether its 8 million or less) and a lot of people's respect that he would take on a dangerous (but untested) fighter. So basically I come down in the middle on this. I simply wanted to point out that this was the relatively safe play and had nothing to do with a previous plan to move to 154 (at least until later on). My reasoning that this was not a planned move to 154 was that IF Karmazin had won Floyd would not have fought him (I believe he would have stayed at 147). In conclusion instead of demonizing and attacking me for having a negative opinion of this fight we can just disagree that Spinks is the right opponent. No big deal.

yeah he is lefthanded, thats why that left hook is so strong and his most deadliest punch. most of his KO are setup and finished with that left hook.
