@grayfist, so at this point the PAC-Valero fight looks like a long shot, I hope Valero can get re-evaluated and get his US license, I think he has enough promise to be given a chance ...The way I see it, pal, "long shot" is right. There just seems to be not much going for it in terms of economics, and, economics often govern promotional considerations.
I share your hope that Valero gets to have his US ban lifted. Recent developments (Mesi, et al) make that hope reasonable. Also, a more sympathetic look may now be given by the powers-that-be to his case, now that he's a world champ. On top of that hope is one about his medical prognosis: I hope he really and truly is fit to fight, medically. We won't want a tragedy of any sort to happen, I'm sure. Twice shall the tragedy be because we have been forewarned.
Anyway, I believe the authorities should get on it. US fight fans should not be deprived of the chance to see "live" someone with such an impressive power. If his mitt-power does not translate to championship-staying-power, I think that that matter is best decided by events inside the ring (bar tragedy). And US fans should be allowed to be direct witnesses to that adventure, if nothing else.
Edit: Good to see you again, buddy!:)

aside from Japan how about a fight in Mexico, promoted by golden boy? could they come up with enough $$$ ...
before the fight Valero was No. 1 WBO contender and Pac at No. 2, in effect Valero's No. 1 contender is PAC ...I don't think Valero has any kind of following in Mexico, pal. And, I don't know that Mexicans will shell out good money for a Pacquiao fight.
In an interview prior to the fight against Pacquiao, Larios pointed out that big fights are seldom held in Mexico because few would pay for PPV there.
If one eyes the US PPV market for staging a Paquiao-Valero meeting, the match can be better held in Japan where Valero has a following (on-site revenues), and beamed to the US. But I wonder how much PPV revenues can be generated in the US by a fight featuring Valero who is unknown except to serious boxing fans. It looks to me that Pacquiao's name must have to carry that. Same with TV broadcast rights to other countries, save perhaps Valero's homeland of Venezuela (Edit: and, of course, Japan).
For financial considerations, I think Pacquiao would rather look in the direction of taking on the winner of MAB-Juarez to get himself a belt. Whatever haters may say of Marco, his name still resonates well with the casual boxing fans. And, if Juarez gets to beat Marco, people shall flock to watch two guys who were able to beat The Barrera. It won't be much of a tough sell and it can be held in good Ol' US of A.

If the fight can't be in the US, there can't be much money in it.
Pacquiao is eyeing retirement; he's looking at his back account's balances frequently. As he should.
Under current circumstances, a Valero date cannot be very tempting for a Pacquiao, except if some Japanese promoter puts up good money for a fight in Japan, where Valero has reportedly built up quite a reputation and following, and where the betting is not on whether Valero wins but on whether he KO's his opponent in the first round.
The promoter may, however, need to forget about making a good sum out of PPV or worldwide TV rights. On-site sales and sponsorships may constitute as his only hope for ROI. That's not exactly a business proposition that can make an investor lick his chops.
that fight wont happen bec. valerio is nothing for pac.. he wont risk everything just to play valerio...but if valerio owns WBC,IBF,WBO belts i guess pacman will chnage his mind..hahahahahahahaha...
If it's not inside U.S. yes why not and maybe not now because Pac has already lined up his fight plans. Morales, MAB or Juarez.
I would love to see this fights happen.
Pac/Morales
Pac/MAB or Juarez
Pac/Valerio
Pac/Diaz
Then retire! :)
Hopefully Pac wins all of those. But if those fights are gonna be back to back, then expect Pac to burn out the first 2 and lost the last 2. Unless of course Pac somehow KO's all his opponent in the first round which is unlikely.
He has a good chance of pleading his case though. Better than Mesi. He's got a similar case sorta as Barrera. He's been fighting after this injury was recovered and has shown no ill effects. He's been dominating his competition and is now a champion. I don't see how they couldn't see over that as opposed to Mesi who was trying to get relicensed without even fighting since the injury.
there is a reason he cant fight here. i think the safety precautions that prevent him from fighting here are crucial to the safety of fighters.
i dont think this might happen in the philippines too if that's the case
Who is manny gonna fight after Erik? Barrera? JMM? Raheem? Juarez?
I'm not too excited about those fights. They needa build up the hype machine a lil more. Maybe Barrera if he beats Juarez. JMM could be good.
im hoping for a juarez win so he and pac can fight. i dont think barera will fight pac again.
how serious is his injury?

You don't need experience to beat Manny all the time. Valero loves to fight and so does Manny. Manny doesn't know how to fight backwards and Valero comes out bombing. Manny would immediately be on the defense, get pushed back into the ropes where he still doesn't know how to properly get out and get decapitated. I think Valero's all out throwing decapitating power punches would definitely shock and stun Manny. His "will" to win is also high after getting up from a huge left hook in the 3rd round against Mosquera. Would be a great fight though I'd pick Edwin by upset.
Can Valerio vs Pac happen?Dont know if it has been mentioned.
** Maybe outside the US like Japan or the Philippines before Manny retires. Valero is way too inexperienced, but would look good on Manny's resume.
I am talking about outside the U.S, maybe in manila where Pacquio gets stunned. :D
i think pac has bigger fights lined up than one against valero, maybe before retirement
