Evander Holyfield vs. Jeremy Bates *PREVIEW/POLL*
I got that from ABOUT.com's boxing schedule.
is this fight gonna be free? and is it really gonna be on FOX5, because i havent seen boxing on that channel in a loooooong time
No reason to fight on though is it? Fight such a low calibre of fighter that he negates the possibility of getting hurt.
He's always come across as an incredibly brave warrior, as well as being a few sandwiches short of a picnic. He should try and retain what few sandwiches he has left.
Well no he shouldnt be fighting on despite how lackluster the opponent is. After getting thoroughly beaten by Donald you would think he would have had it. But he is screaming injury and its hard to tell if he thinks Donald is a good fighter or not...
Evander is definately to brave and courageous for his own good...I just hope Bates can beat Holyfield and give him a rude awakening....But Holyfield is going to do what he is going to do.
Holyfield is done as a top 20 fighter maybe even 30 and is becoming a human punching bag...
Poor guy, but I give him a 99.9% chance against Bates but if he wins he keeps fighting...I just fear if they ban him in the states he will go overseas and keep fighting and get murdered (literally) in the ring.
i just hope he dosnt get badly hurt
he has no bussiness fighting now
Evander wont get hurt by Bates trust me on this.
I would bet my soul on a one way to ticket to hell that Evander wont even be fazed by Bates. Im not saying that because Evander has one hell of a chin and that is his downfall because he takes so many punches but strictly because Bates cannot hurt Evander.
Beating Bates will give him a good confidence boost.
The only problem is that he will beat him and think he can still do well and then when he steps it up he will be majorly hurt.
My thoughts exactly, I'd love to see him have one last win, but I'm sure he'd think that means he back & go get his ass kicked by a real deal HW.
Hopefully that doesn't happen to Roy nor does it need to happen to Holyfield.
Thats what happens when the skills are eroded but the heart is still their.
It's a sad story when a fighter fights a low caliber guy and beats him thoroughly and thinks he can compete with the other top guys.
The difference between Roy and Evander in their fights is that Roy beat a top 10 guy while Evander is fighting a guy who basically came out of Toughman with no experience at all...It will give Holyfield a win but he needs to have a reality check about who and what type of guy he is facing.
Beating Bates will give him a good confidence boost.

I agree, i wish he would retire already.
He just has the mentality of a warrior, and isn't going to give up boxing unless someone makes him. I believe they should have made him stop boxing about 3 years ago maybe even longer than that. Holyfield needs to retire before he ends up dead in the ring, or he's walking around like ALI is now.
