I liked George Foreman the best, Lewis is a good commentator. Lampley and Merchant are good entertaining commentators in my opinion. I dont have anything against Teddy Atlas but he should be the back up guy not the main commentator for ESPN. I dont really like Jones as a commentator. Barry McGuigan is a good.
Mine are Jim Lamply and Merchant, what are your favorites,
I also like Al berntsien(spelling)
my all time favorite team is Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy.
my favorite right now is Barry Tompkins and Rich Marotta.
I used to really like Alex Wallau as well.
in order here (boxing wise):
Al Bernstein (extremely knowledgable)
Steve Farhood (see above comment)
Lampley (same, a vet in sports commentating)
Atlas (same)
Steve Albert (but grandma, what white teeth you have!)
Foreman (a good one, one of the best "boxer"-commentators)
Merchant (you know... :D)
Kellerman (not bad, very opinionated)
i have little complaint with any boxing-commentators really

Howard Cosell
Don Dunphey
Larry Merchant
Al Bernstein
Barry Thompkins
Jim Lampley
Marv Albert
It's easier to list the once I don't like:
Lederman - he kills me with that voice and "JIM!" shouts at the end of each score reading...
Roy Jones Jr. - Always talks about himself in the 3rd person (not lately, since he has been KOed)
rest I'm cool with!
I like Harold Lederman. What gets me is when he goes on too long and Lampley has to stop doing commentary for like 30 seconds.

Merchant and lamps are too biased at times...i like the younger merchant from his first hbo telecasts...manny is the most knowledgable..barry tompkins was good too.

My buddy Max Kellerman by far. The most non biased commentator there is. The man lives and breathes boxing. He should replace Merchant on HBO Boxing after dark !
lol, just kidding. haha.
Lennox is garbage IMO as a commentator. Mr. Absolutely.
I totally agree - I once had a thread called HBO drinking game or something to that effect where you had to take a shot every time Lennox said absolutely...
Merchant is funny at times, and I like Lampley's energy (just that), but Atlas and Steward are my favorites, they know the most.
Foreman is by far the one I hate the most, he repeats himself, is huge fuckin' Uncle Tom and CLEARLY shows bias in every fight he's calling. What a disgrace.
Favorites:
Merchant -- because he's hilarious and tells it like it is.
Atlas -- probably the man who is able to articulate the science of boxing better than anyone.
Steward -- has some pretty cool editorials about what he thinks the fighters should be doing and what he would do if he were in the corner.
Least Favorites:
George Foreman -- Reiterates his point 80 billion times. Also he contradicts himself about 80 billion times as well during a broadcast, and let's not forget his undeniable bias towards big punchers.
Jim Lampley -- The man knows nothing about boxing and just states the obvious every single time. His nickname should be "Captain Obvious."
Lennox Lewis -- The guy is just plain boring. His offers nothing new or innovative in terms of insight, and he's not the most articulate person in the world either. He's a snoozer.
