You missed the point of my Santos reference. You are right Santos was a champion, and is a good fighter. I was simply saying that as I was watching the fight I thought that Margarito looked slightly less powerful than at 147 where I think he would have KO'd Santos. I don't criticize him for losing especially because he was coming on to probably win the fight when it was stopped. Garcia was an ok fighter... not good or great. But look at Rivera's record and he has beaten some good opposition and his fight against Collazo could have gone either way. Yeah I agree, Rivera is not the wba champ for nothing, but I just don't see how his boxing skills will hold up when he has a really strong guy putting it on him.

Also you didn't mention that Garcia had only been down once in his career and Rivera knocked him down 5 times including once in the 12th showing his power carries through the fight. If his chin can stand up... I think this will be an interesting fight...boxer-puncher versus puncher And if you saw the Santos fight which I think you did, you know that Margarito's power doesn't translate as well at 154. I've seen Rivera fight twice: 1st was against Collazo in a close fight that could've went to him. 2nd was against Terra Garcia in a barn burner. Terra Garcia can punch so getting knocked down by him is nothing to be ashamed of. The point is Rivera got back up & closed the show & put Garcia on his ass in the 12th & a few times before that. Rivera is a solid fighter with good power & a good chin because he took some bombs from Terra. I think he'll grind Maro down & stop him late because he's a better technical boxer & has decent defense. He also doesn't wing wide punches like Margo does & can counter punch pretty well. He's a dangerous fight for anyone at 154 & would give any top fighter hell.

All this shows is that Margarito is not the msot feared man in boxing. He has plenty of people calling him out because they know he can be beaten. Also Ishe Smith is a good fighter who was tangled up in the contender mess. His biggest mistake was going on the show. He has a good promoter now though.
