Fuck Cosme, this is the real Rivera. Jose Rivea. Not one of these scrubs that Margarito builds up has shitty as resume on. I keep telling you guys that all you do is bitch about Floyd but you make a ton of excuses for Margarito.
Dont tell me Margarito cant go to 154 because you know that if Floyd demanded for the fight to be at 154 then he wouldve jumped on it, he was also "supposedly" going to fight Winky at 154, and he just fought Santos at 154. Rivera flat out said that how can he be the most feared man in boxing when I will fight him but no one will fight me?
If Margarito beats Rivera then cant no one ever say bad shit about him again and this cat actually came out and said I will do it for 1 mil. I keep telling you guys to stop acting like this cat has no one to fight. There are so many good fighters that will take on Margarito that its sickning. Lets see if Margarito will duck him because this is a fight where Margarito could probally make the same or even more then he was fighting Floyd since he was going to give Floyd all the money.
If he wins this fight then Mayweather has no excuse and neither does anyone else, but again watch Margarito end up fighting the fake Rivera to defraud the public again with a 2nd round KO to make him look so scary

Sounds like a good fight. Make it happen, Antonio, if you'll fight anybody like you say.
It won't happen.
Margarito will only face Mayweather(for a payday) or some bum around the corner.
He seems to ignore anyone that challenges him.
Well moving up to 154 complicates things. It's hard to keep two belts in two weight classes and I think Tony shouldn't risk losing his trinket title. If Tony is going to 154 again, it's going to be for someone who is a name there...like Spinks or Ouma (since Winky seems not willing to come to 154).
It was just recently that Collazo was a no-name guy that was supposed to be an easy notch on Hatton's belt. Cintron only has Reid and Estrada on his resume, true...but to me Rivera's resume seems a tiny bit better than Cintron's although not enough that Floyd fans are all of a sudden going to demand a Margarito fight should Tony beat Rivera.
But no I wasn't addressing it to you...however, thanks for answering anyway.
No Floyd would not be asking for the fight then. But it would give Margarito options and put him closer to his goal of getting Floyd. He would have the choice of facing any title holder or top contender at 154 or 147 as he could be a title holder at both and then relinquish whichever one he isn't going to defend. Can't hurt to have another title or former title holder on your resume.

You won't give him credit for Cintron, who at least has had some exposure, but you will give him credit for Rivera somehow?
Your threads about this issue are getting predictable.
If this is addressed at me... I didn't start the thread. But I will tell you why I would value this win more than the Cintron win. Yes Cintron had exposure and was undefeated but was also unproven/untested. Margarito might have simply exposed an overhyped prospect. Rivera is an established guy in that he has held titles at 2 weight classes. Losing a split decision to Collazo is no big knock on him. Rivera also beat an undefeated Michele Trabant and Alejandro Garcia... both of whom are tough guys. Cintron didn't have names like that on his resume.

Settle down,I already posted an interview were Margarito said he wanted to make a fight with THIS rivera @ 154.He said he had a bone to pick with puerto ricans (because of santos)
the thing margarito wants to do is fighting a bunch of nobodies..then get a shot at mayweather or de la hoya..he dosent want to fight the paul williams carlos quintana's of the world he wants to fight "maneul gomez" and "Hercules Kyvelos's" of the world
Actually Margarito had contracts with all of the fighters ranked higher than Kyvelos and Gomez by the WBO. Unfortunately after realizing he was the WW version of Mike Tyson none of them could stop their arms from quivering long enough to sign the contract. LOL.

You should see his fight with Alex Garcia, it was awesome. Trading heavy leather and LOTS of knockdowns. I think there were 6 knockdowns in the fight.
i'll see if i can locate that fight. thanks. like i said i've never seen any of his fights but saw that he lost a UD to Collazo which could suggest he has trouble with slick southpaws.
thats a pretty good enough description. At 33 years old i guess this is his chance to pull an upset. Sounds like a durable , non flashy fighter who just gets the job done.
Exactly. And Diego is right that if you want to see an exciting one of his performances, check out his fight against Alex Garcia.
He is kind of in the mold of a Baldomir or Glen Johnson but with more pure boxing skill. He is a guy that has had a good career despite not having any hype and being a true family man. The guy works as a baliff at a courthouse during the week and boxes in his free time. He can be a bit workman-like, but he has some boxing skill and he is really tough. He also has a decent punch. He does everything pretty well but nothing badly. Somebody else might want to help fill in any gaps or misstatements as I don't claim to be the Rivera authority or anything.

I've never seen this Rivera guy fight. Just saw his record on boxrec. WHats the down low on this guy ? A 5'8 light middle suggests that he's a stocky motherfucker...
