I know the guy is young, but he throws 110 shots a round for a full fight, and has an iron jaw. He also have great speed and good accuracy.
Just curious (and I'm NOT saying I think he beats everyone at Welterweight yet)
Who do you think beats Paul Williams at 147 if they were to fight in the fall?
He'd be a handfull for anyone. :boxing:
I don't see that at all, because Walter can bang, and Williams fought through everything thrown at him and kept fighting.
I think his chin was checked in that fight and he passed.
But time will tell.
I agree you idiot his chin was checked and he did indeed pass.
As for Paul at welterweight and who can beat him...I think it is tough to predict what he is really like based upon the open book that Matthysse was for him.
As good as he looked in his last fight I would expect a letdown in his next bout...
Williams is still a bit of a question mark but at this point he should have all fight fans attention.
Bozo, send me some more pics of your clevage shots, that shit really turns me on you kinky little skank!
I disagree, I think both of those guys are too small, and that Cotto has been on the verge of being stopped by much lesser punchers.
paul williams is actually a very good inside fighter for someone so lanky, he throws very tight and compact uppercuts on the inside and is pretty good at putting together hook combos as well. he also knows how to use his quick straight left to get distance and discourage his opponent from throwing the right hand in close.
for this reason i see him beating hatton, cotto im not so sure about, it would come down to williams chin cause he could surely outbox miguel
Hatton and Cotto?
I don't think so. He's huge, and makes Collazo look like a Lightweight. He'd be a handfull for Hatton because he's a fast powerfull southpaw, and if Cotto thought Torrez was a puncher, he'd be in for a big suprize here.
Mayweather would be too much, and Margarto would have too much experience, but Williams could be a tough fight for either of them because of his size, power and activity.good assessment
re bozo no no:
paul williams is a huge welterweight, but he is extremely top heavy, seems to have uneasy legs and he leaves his chin up in the air. cotto would knock him out because he is a very patient puncher. he is very economical and he throws all of his shots to knock you out - not to just swarm you and attack you.
hatton would have tons of problems with paul williams but i think he may be a little too experienced for paul - at the moment. hatton is much stronger then paul williams (in my humble opinion) and he would be able to bully paul on the inside thus paul's strength would be negated.

paul williams would be a tough fight for any welter. i see him as a serious threat in the division. i want to see him against someone like a collazo or quintana first even though i think he would be able to get past both of them.
as it stands, at this moment - at this time. mayweather would outbox him and stop him. hatton would maul him and win on points. cotto would knock him out while trailing on the cards. margarito beats him in 6 rounds.

Well since the bandwagon is full I guess I'll just have to jump on his dick.
be very careful about jumping on the dick of anyone called "the punisher" :boxing:
Hes extremely easy to hit, Mathysse was beating the sh!t out of him until he got competely gassed. Williams wont always be that lucky.
That's the way I saw it too. Needs to work on his defence.
I guess I was expecting more considering his record, but to be honest it's the only Williams fight I have seen. He may have been more impressive in other bouts.

What fight were you watching?
Williams was beating the shit out of Mathysse almost the entire fight. Sure Wlat got in some good shots, but he took the wost of it by a mile.
a fight between paul williams and kermit cintron would be very exciting and would answer a lot of questions about both guys.
A fight with Cintron would be a good fight for both guys at this point to see who's going to take the next step up.
my god, we agree, these things happen sometimes :boxing:
im gonna go out on a limb and say that carlos quintana is better than paul williams. i dont know why, i was just impressed all around by quintana, he seemed very polished and showed great discipline with his fight plan. williams still has some rough edges, so i think hes a step behind at this point.
but with both being slick lefties i doubt wed see a quintana/williams fight without it being mandated
I agree with the bolded part, that's the biggest mistake that's being made in boxing today.
Hopefully he becomes successful.
even moreso for williams, his record look nice
but he spent the early part of his career fighting complete garbage all over the south.
sharmba mitchell is a smart fight for him, he should have one more on that level and then evaluate his chances from there.
Hes tall, he punches in bunches, hes a southpaw, he has a good chin, but he gets hit A LOT. This is what I got from seeing him on BAD earlier this year. Oh yeah, he called otu Margorito too...
