"People are saying, ¿What happened?' because they know that wasn't me up there. I have to explain it."
:bottle: The explanation — he was done in by his effort to make weight — may not be a huge surprise. But the extreme efforts to reach 154 pounds, even while proclaiming himself in control of the effort, would seem to do much to illuminate his slow, sluggish effort. :bottle:
Pecora said a withdrawal from the fight was discussed earlier in training, but Vargas said he never considered it in the final hours, and not just because of the inevitable lawsuits.

In my opinion he has known that he cant make weight for years, he took this fight for the money and should just shut up instead of making excuses.
there is a difference between fighting and competetive fighting
what u jus said doesnt have ne thing to do on what i said. i've lost weight competitivly.i've seen ppl way bigger then him do it. like i said he lazy. he's not all that huge
i dont undertand why vargas cant lose weight. im bigger then him and im sure i can fight at 147 or 154 with no problem.i think he's jus to lazy and eats alot to lose weight
Vargas was saying before the fight that Mosley didn't want the fight because he isn't a true 154 pounder. LOL. He got his ass kicked and KO'd by a blown up welterweight.
The only surprise to me was that Vargas wasn't cleanly KO'd by Mosley in the first fight. This time around Vargas was looking for right hands and got KO'd by the left. Vargas is the poster boy for what 'roids can do to elevate a middle of the pack fighter to a championship.
Dumb. when Trinidad dropped Vargas he got up and fought like a man. When Vargas dropped trinidad trinidad hit him in the nuts!! he's dirty period. when dela hoya ko'd vargas they rushed him to the hospital because his eye socket was fractured dummy. he didnt rush out of the ring..he was ktfo!!!! he was making excuses bout shane ...those werent headbutts those were right hands....atleast he has never threatin to sue liek delahoya did when he loses close desicions. or retire like trinidad did everytime he loses....big baby
What an idiot this guy is. He pretty much proves my points as valid and then he attacks a fighter I don't think much of. Atleast DLH and Trinidad are good sportsman and give respect to their opponents. We're talking about excuses, and Trinidad doesn't give excuses like Vargas. If he retires, thats his personal decision. I'd rather see a fighter retire too soon than to see Vargas flopping around on his face from a former lightweight champion
Hey, I believe what Vargas says is right. As such there is no shame in loosing to Mosley. Mosley might be the best boxer out there on a his good days. But after this it seems that Vargas is giving himself 2 options. 1. Is to retire. 2. is to box in MW or maybe even SMW. from now. I think this KO have hurt him though. And made his chin even more fragile. Going to MW or SMW will just expose this even further. I think he is really DONE, Very well DONE.

How do you do the upside-down question mark?
:bottle: :bottle: NO ONE CARES FERNANDO BE A MAN AN ADMIT YOU LOST AND DO US ALL A FAVOR AND RETIRE :bottle: :bottle:
just wondering... do u happen to be a chavez fan?
Hmmmm so does Dela Hoya..Hopkins,,Winky Wright....mostley all fighters do that when they lose.
But Vargas is different. Vargas' borders on outright bad sportsmanship.
First came the Trinidad shit when he said the only reason he lost was because Trinidad is dirty
Then came him storming out the ring after DLH stopped him.
The he says that he would've killed Wright had he been able to make weight, because I guess Vargas is the only guy with weight issues.
Then comes him saying that the swelling in the first Mosley fight wasn't that bad and that he should've been able to continue. And right on schedule, heres his excuse for the loss Mosley again. If you buy these excuses and bullshit, he's undefeated I guess.
Im not gonna lie and say this was unexpected. Vargas has a long history of making up excuses when he loses. He has shown a complete lack of respect for his opponents before and after bouts that he loses, hes simply not strong enough a person to accept defeat. I don't know what the interviews significance is, but atleast it was interesting.
I feel for Vargas, what a stupid move for him and his team to agree at 154 for that fight, knowing damn well Fernando was gonna have alot of trouble making weight.
This and other rush decisions(fighting top opponents too early) by Vargas and his team have cost a good fighter dearly from becoming a GREAT fighter.
Its not that he is done, it is that he ran his mouth to elite fighters and got whooped. He needs more experience.
no,,he's just a typical school bully with a big mouth that cant back it up

he has a glass jaw. thats his problem
Well then I don't know why he'd look so bad the second time around unless the man is done. He's still young so if he wants to go up to MW then that's cool but don't expect to beat any of the elite. A loss to Taylor IMO will probably be the end of the line for Vargas
He can fight at MW but what can he really do there. He was ko'd by a small 154 pounder Mosley. Vargas was ko'd by Oscar, who has zero power at MW. If Vargas does fight Taylor, Fernando will be ko'd for good.
No, your right. 40 pounds over for the first and in the second he did maintain weight. Vargas just doesnt have it anymore, to much punishment 2 soon.

You're right...he ddint have to drop 40 pounds this time. He is DONE.

I thought in the countdown he said that he had come in 40 pound overweight for the first fight(which he looked much better in), & he just maintained his weight for this one(which i figure means he shouldn't have looked that bad this time around), but maybe i was mistaken

Technically he did come in training camp 40 pounds over weight. He was killing himself to make weight since fighting Winky Wright. But my feeling is this.. He can't make excuses.
The real reason he lost is,because Vargas is a good fighter, but Mosley is an elite fighter. And if the Vargas nuthuggers want to make excuses, they need to validate their excuse. Its just like the Tarver vs. Hopkins fight most people blame the weight loss. When Jones lost everybody said he was done. See its all the matter of nuthuggin.

I actually believe him that the weight loss is what made him look so sluggish. He still would have been beaten by the better fighter though, maybe not as bad.
I agree...
sometimes u spend more time trying to make weight...then training to fight..and it becomes a "weight loss camp" i agree with him...i think i'll be better at middleweight but he still cant beat taylor and wright
No Shit....
